@Mooseboy018 the new films may be not really based on this animation, but for sure peter jackson stole complete scenes, dialogues and production design from the animated films, especially from ralph bakshis "the lord of the rings"

btw, i think that peter jacksons movies are not as good as many people pretend them to be. they're made well and are surely impressing, but there isnt more to say.
