the fuwa were created by chinese artist han meilin. and i tell you he did great on designing the fuwa. i love thw fuwa so much! ^_^

han hates fuwa ALOT. it is not his design, it's bunch of ideas by communist party bosses that he just put on paper. (for free, he didn't even get the one yuan he was promised, lol)
originally han wanted to make children but the bosses ordered him to put there panda&other animals and then references to chinese culture like kite or old patterns. so he just put them these huge hats.
but i still think that they are cute lol. but it's good to know the story behind it
