It's a shame that he has to retire at the end of this year. It was great seeing him play all these years. He is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Even if he is american. Who cares if he is American? He is and always will be one of the greatest Soccer players in the world.
Better believe if that fairy De Rossi got even poked in the eye he'd fall to the ground and roll around and cry until the game was delayed 10 minutes. McBride went off the field, got the blood cleaned up, and manned the fuck up and got back in the game without saying a word. Even though the US will probably never win a WC in the next 100 years, I can RESPECT their players for not being a bunch of fag crybabies like the italians are. Go Brasil!!
Apparently Fullham have a bar/restaurant in the VIP section of Craven Cottage. They renamed it "McBrides" after he left the club. THE DUDE HAS A FUCKING BAR NAMED AFTER HIM!
the BEST athlete EVER there really isn't any comparison.
btw don't get me wrong he isn't the GREATEST soccer player ever, and he was definatly up there, but he is the most athletic and daring of any sport in the world.
yeah he was really inspiring, getting back up and playing on after some of the hits he took, like that bloody nose from the italian dude during their friendly match in germany 06. that was awesome! in fact i think that one is actually in the vid...if i remember correctly.
McBride could suit up for the USA right now. Ask anyone from Fulham, this guy gets better with age!
He's also a great example that yanks CAN become icons in Europe. The closest right now is Onyewu in Belgium. Beasley used to be respected in Holland with PSV, don't know what was in the water in scotland, but he's fallen out of form.
kinda sucks that just because he's american, he had to go through what he did. If he was european born he would have been highly rated for any team. The hardest working player you could ever see play.
When the new season starts, i'm getting his shirt even though i'm no where near chicago! he's my fav footballer ever. i use to play in a similar role as him my sophomore and half my junior years
he is, but for the US olympic squad confirmed today by peter nowak who is the coach for the US olympic squad, and he'll be joined by Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore as well, and it all starts Aug 7!!
This is my fav Mcbride videos and i got to say its just amazing i remeber how my family would tease me by calling me Brian Mcbride because my name is Bryan(just with a Y)but i always admired him for just how good a player he is.I was super happy when i saw him in the wold Cup and i wish they would use him again for the USA national team but i dought that will happen since he is getting old and they want a new national team,But we will never forget him for everything he did for the fans and USA.
All the reports have McBride ending up in Chicago but I hope the red bulls use some of the 10 million dollar transfer fee they got for shipping Jozy to spain to get a one of the best american strikers EVER
well hes just left fulham after saving their season down the stretch
how bout you pull a henrik larsson and come back for the US. that way we don't hafta field EJ and wolff. i cant even fathom how good we could be fielding you and kenny cooper up front.
Thanks a lot for making this. I played for one of the same teams that McBride did when he was a kid so in the world of soccer he seems to be one of the player I know most. This is a great tribute showing off McBride's ability to head the ball. Looking at these goals I can't think recently that are so dangerous in the air. Great video thanks again.
Brian is a proberly the only american player that has made a massive impact in European Football especially in the EPL. I support Fulham and to have such a legend play for our modest little club says a lot for Brian.
A True professional that will always be remembered in one of the toughest league in the world.
he is the model proffesional of the beautiful game. Any wankers that say hes shit are stupid - he is a hard working team player and i would have him anyday over players like drogba and ronaldinho that bask in their own glory. Also he is by far the best header of the ball I have seen in football.
Yes, the US is definitely not one of the top ten countries in the world in football, but they have some of the best spoortsman and never dive or disrespect.
hes not a great player, but he is tough. The problem with the USA soccer is that they seem to think that every plyer that they have is something special. They set standards too high as well like in WC 2006 they ranked themselves as #4 in the world, what about France,Argentina,England,Germany,Italy,Spain and every other team that is so much better than the USA?
If you actually knew anything about American football, you'd know that many Americans, even those who were diehard fans at the time, questioned such a lofty ranking after so many years of inconsitent play.
i don't know what state you's from but thre's a soccershop at the corner of figueroa and martin luter king boulevard in los angeles i saw a mcbride jersey and itwas pretty xpensive.280 dlls to be -xact. good luck man
Every goal he makes, he makes sure to acknowledge the person who passed to him, I love that about him. McBride is one of the best players USA has produced, and is definitely a world class player.
brian mcbride is the american that came out of nowhere. and we all know one thing about him..even you euro's that hate america..and its soccer. that he had guts & hart..ran all over the pitch for 90+. landon has all the skills...but NO hart and guts...you euro's know that also. MCBRIDE is our true pride.
tekkenhalo. big deal. are you one of those retards who goes around telling everyone their from Germany? why? because your dad is military and you were born there? Ha! NO! That's american soil if your born on a military base. so YOUR AMERICAN. americans are so fucking stupid.
We will have many more young players from the U-18, U-17 U-16 and even U-15 who are very good players and will help us during the 2010 world cup. But of course we dont want to lose Donavan or McBride, hopefully they'll stay. USA hopefully will go far. USA!USA!USA!
naa. i don´t think so im afraid, absolutely no offence here.. But usa have been in the world cup every time since 1990. and some more before that. It´s said that america is gonna be something big someday, but i just can´t see it happening, why? because you don´t have the same soccer-culture as europe and south america.
so true...that's why im gettin the fuck outta this lame ass baseball football basketball centered country. No one understands the environment of "socceR" around the world and how big it is when you're team wins...especially the world cup. The celebration you can't even compare to American teams...another thing why do they claim to be "WOrLD CHAMPIONS" their national champions..just like in college football.stupid ass overrated PRO sports not college.
yeah, of course he will prove me wrong, but statiscis wont´t. a player (exept goalkeepers) have their peak just under 30 years of age. Their are some players who are still preforming good after that and McBride is one of them, but do i think he will last long, no, i think his peak is already over and i can´t see a future for him fullham to be hounest
well maybe. he is a legend and he has helped me a long way with my acl injury, because he is my favourite player and when i see him play it makes me fight harder
coming from someone whose name is tekkenhalo i wouldnt think you would have time to watch soccer, your probably a 50 year old bloke who sits at home all day with his curtains shut playing video games, why say no one take offense then say something which us soccer fans will take insult to and im not even american
Well first of all I was born in Europe so I am a big fan of soccer. Second you just insulted someone over the internet. It's sad really, how many retards roam around Youtube.
its a real shame hes dislocated his knee! being so old and all i dunno if he can make it back, supposed to be back november and i hope he does hes a great player!
Now that Duncan Ferguson has retired from the game, Brian Mcbride's heading ability is unsurpassed in the premiership, and probably the rest of the world.
The only reason to like this wanker here, cause he plays for Fullham.. other than that he's just another bloody american "trying" to play real football
i'm sure you'd enjoy watching Fulham in the Championship if it wasn;t for this "wankers" 9 goals. or maybe another "wanker", Clint Dempsey, that saved your ass from relegation against Liverpool.
Sorry mate i'm not a fullham fan, i live in north london so i support arsenal but the gunners have already disposed of fullham this season, however i am excited to see freddy adu in benfica and that altidore fella, US football does seem to have a bright future
i'm mexican and i can say this guy was awsome, someone i can admire and hate at the same time for those goals scored at mexico. thanx soccer for create this feeling.
trust me i shed a tear watching this video..mcbride has done SOOOOO MUCH for american football...yet few acknoledge.he is a great and an honourable american.lets put up a salute for him....watsay???
Mcbride was the only US player in 06 who could have walked away with his honor and pride intact. as far as US Soccer goes, he is a legend. reyna(in his prime) is really the only other us player worthy of praise. dempsey gives me hope for our team but that gets dashed when i see donavon, adu, etc. Mcbride deserves better than creed.
Yea, in a sport where most of the men "pretend" to be hurt, McBride definitely is the Toughest soccer player I have ever seen... That cheap shot when the Italians busted his eye open, he took it like a man and just kept playing, two minutes later an Italian guy got kicked in the leg and he was on the ground crying and pretending to be hurt
Brian Mcbride is the best American soccer player ever. he is probably the best striker in the air in the game right now. Clint Dempsey is also very good. He's still young though. Give Clint time, and he will turn out to be a great player. In the USA, Brian Mcbride IS a legend. but i must agree creed does suck.
McBride plays with something few else play with in soccer. Grit, heart, and an undeterred desire to get the ball in the back of the net no matter what. Rooney, Lampard, and some of the English players have it, but Ronaldo, C.Ronaldo, Nedved, Borgetti? They're all floppers. Their skill is much better, but they don't have the heart, they play for themselves.
Also whoever was dissing on Dempsey. Wait for him... He's a player with great skill as well.
US Mens National Team really misses him. Great target man, incredible in the air, and he get he shares of goals, too. He's probably the most accomplished US forward in years. He currently leads Fulham with 12 goals at age 34. I wished he was younger. Currently, there are no US forwards with the same grit, hard-nose and hustle. That's why he makes the big bucks. 700K pounds per year. I hope Fulham rewards him to another 1 or 2 year extension with more money.
im from england so i dont care much for the usa team, but mcbride is real tough. like hes only a decent player but he has heart and hes tough, unlike the overated ppl like dempsey, donovan and beasley
McBride's heart and toughness are why real US football fans love him. As for the other boys being overrated, oftentimes you can't blame them for that, it's our fucking media... though Dempsey I believe has the potential. Give him a moment, and he'll show Fulham fans something.
i dont get him as a player...from what i c in da clip it looks like he'd be decent in da box, but maybe i dont c much if him...if i was 2 have a player of the same ilk...i'd much rather Ruud V. Nistelroy n iy pains me 2 say dat, of course his no ronaldo my any means but im sure his repd. da USA with pride.
Mcbride is a legend. he has just extended his contract with Fulham FC taking him through the 2007-2008 season. He is passionate about the game thats what we need in the England Squad. He is 1 of the nest in the world when it comes to headers
Had Mcbride been a Non-American player, he would have recieved a lot more respect from the soccer world...The only reason nobody knows his name is because he is an American, and general thoughts still are that Americans can't play this game....
He represents our country with honor, bravery, determination, and grit. Every one of our players who dons the United States jersey needs to have ALL of those qualities like Brian did or they aren't fit to wear it. Period.
Americans who follow soccer love Brian McBride (and yes there are Americans who watch soccer, although obviously we are not the near the majority). The only current American player I respect more is Claudio Reyna.
Mcbride is a better player than Borgetti, i dont know why the comparison here, but I admit that, however i could say that hugo sanchez is much better than McBride. period
a lean mean goal scoring machine

i'm sure you'd enjoy watching Fulham in the Championship if it wasn;t for this "wankers" 9 goals. or maybe another "wanker", Clint Dempsey, that saved your ass from relegation against Liverpool.

Sorry mate i'm not a fullham fan, i live in north london so i support arsenal but the gunners have already disposed of fullham this season, however i am excited to see freddy adu in benfica and that altidore fella, US football does seem to have a bright future

MCBRIDE...i like mcbride forever!!!

Brian Mcbride is the best American soccer player ever. he is probably the best striker in the air in the game right now. Clint Dempsey is also very good. He's still young though. Give Clint time, and he will turn out to be a great player. In the USA, Brian Mcbride IS a legend. but i must agree creed does suck.
soccerkid398 4 years ago
simply put, Brian McBride is the man. i got goosebumps watching this video when they showed the clip of him scoring against Portugal.
DannyMac100 4 years ago
guys, the guy is good but not a legend.
serb360 4 years ago
McBride plays with something few else play with in soccer. Grit, heart, and an undeterred desire to get the ball in the back of the net no matter what. Rooney, Lampard, and some of the English players have it, but Ronaldo, C.Ronaldo, Nedved, Borgetti? They're all floppers. Their skill is much better, but they don't have the heart, they play for themselves.
Also whoever was dissing on Dempsey. Wait for him... He's a player with great skill as well.
Also, Creed sucks ass.

i agree but i think that c. ronaldo is starting to get more team oriented
and i agree about creed haha

Smart1669 5 years ago
McBride's heart and toughness are why real US football fans love him. As for the other boys being overrated, oftentimes you can't blame them for that, it's our fucking media... though Dempsey I believe has the potential. Give him a moment, and he'll show Fulham fans something.
droctagon187 4 years ago
i dont get him as a player...from what i c in da clip it looks like he'd be decent in da box, but maybe i dont c much if him...if i was 2 have a player of the same ilk...i'd much rather Ruud V. Nistelroy n iy pains me 2 say dat, of course his no ronaldo my any means but im sure his repd. da USA with pride.

he plays with everything joga bonita stands for:honor, respect, joy, pride.after seeing that clip i am glad i play for the u-14 US national team.

Mcbride is a legend. he has just extended his contract with Fulham FC taking him through the 2007-2008 season. He is passionate about the game thats what we need in the England Squad. He is 1 of the nest in the world when it comes to headers

GREAT PLAYER

Had Mcbride been a Non-American player, he would have recieved a lot more respect from the soccer world...The only reason nobody knows his name is because he is an American, and general thoughts still are that Americans can't play this game....

He represents our country with honor, bravery, determination, and grit. Every one of our players who dons the United States jersey needs to have ALL of those qualities like Brian did or they aren't fit to wear it. Period.

Its a Dang Shame America will never recognize one of it's greatest heros...He literally bled for the red, white, and blue!!!

Americans who follow soccer love Brian McBride (and yes there are Americans who watch soccer, although obviously we are not the near the majority). The only current American player I respect more is Claudio Reyna.
