When he's in there he doesn't need his breath assistance, so that's when he can do things like groom, though he probably just has some medical droids do it for him.

Anakin finally redeemed himself, and knows that he will die...but all he wants it to see his son without the mask. I'm glad they CGI'ed out Sebastian Shaw's eyebrows for the DVD releases. I love Shaw, but it makes no sense for all the hair follicles on Anakin's body to be burnt off or irrepairably damaged yet he still has big bushy eyebrows. Even before Lucas tinkered with the films I wondered why he still had eyebrows...it had been in Anakin's backstory for years that he fought Obi-Wan near volcanic lava and was almost burned to death. The 1995 POTF2 action figure of Obi-Wan says so on the back.
