I have to do things in fours, face things north east only or up and to the right, calculate letters into numbers ex.cat is 3120 or 24 which is x, or unable to turn the radio or t.v. off on certain words which I perceive to be negative. Yeah I know crazy insane stuff but I do it ... why ? because if I don't bad stuff will happen the brain is a funny organ.
thanks for posting this video, my ocd is getting worse! :( i have the same pattern with numbers but not number 6 (for the same reasons as yourelf) also colours but not red for similar reasons. its so tedious and stressfull having to do these rituals. anyway i feel for everyone who has this and hopes everyone can find a way of getting out of it (once u have let me no the secret :)
can OCD go away or not? but many things dont even sound strange because in my opinion its more weird to leave those kitchen things doors open for example. and theres nothing wrong with looking good or having a fresh mouth... so i dont really get whats OCD..
@swordangel3 The part about it that's OCD is the dire need to do it, and the feelings had when it doesn't get done. They might perfectly normal things, but it's the manner you HAVE to do them, how soon they need to be done, and the anxiety felt when done incorrectly.
@MrJediAres OCD was killing me too. My life was consumed with rituals for everything..and I mean EVERYTHING. From handwashing to counting, to double checking that doors were locked, appliances turned off. I got to a point where I thought, if I dont get help now I am going to end up either involuntarily checked into the psych ward or suicide. After working my way thru it I can now say that I finally have my life back..you can do it too man. Stay positive, it'll all work out :)
(3/3)I hope that someone is helping each & every one of you people who also suffer with OCD, I know it is really nice when you're not suffering alone, & when you know you don't have to be ashamed of it because the people around you support you & are there for you :) .
(2/3)Even things you wouldn't think are a big deal, really turn out to be when you're OCD. It's hard to cope with, it really gets in the way of every day life. But you learn to live with it. & just hope it gets better. We all have different ticks, some are even hazardous to our health & we don't pay attention to our well being because of the OCD...
(1/3)What people don't realize is there's more people with OCD than not.. I have OCD, just a mild case, I've not been seen for it. But I know I have it, along with Bi-Polar Disorder. I hate odd numbers, as one of you have already said, if my left hand does something, my right hand has to repeat to be even. My typing has to be perfect, if not than I will go back & re-do it to my liking. There's several different things.
ppl think im immature or hv a childish brain when they see me doing strange stuff or hving different opinion about life but they cant understand that i hv ocd and i dnt wanna tell them if i do they will say im mad not understanding the difference between a disorder and being mad
i hv a hairfall problem so i keep moving my hands on my head to see if hair are falling or not.i make noises with my nose which annoys others sitting with me.my life realy sux i wish i was never born
before eating food i have to wash my hands and i cant touch anything other then food until my food finishes.i dont like any1 touching my food or sharing from my plate.i cant go and see in the kitchen when food is being cooked cz if i see that food is not being cooked in a clean way i wont be able 2 eat.in my childhood i saw my female cook doing dirty things with food since then i dnt eat from female cooks other then my mom.i get nervous when ppl stare at me.
i chatter my teeth to songs, i bite my lip and cheek, i bite my fingernails and toenails and i have bipolar disorder as well. everything i've tried never works, i have OCD and bipolar and i need help.
@EmPowerUrGeneration Yea its like that with me. When i use a computer i have to click the mouse a certain amount, but then i always feel like i clicked over that number so i have to click more its like that with tapping the point of a pencil too
For me, it's quite different. I have to repeat an action a specific amount of times in order for everything to feel correct. For example, I must comb my hair in the specific area at least three times in order for me to feel "clean". Also, I have to clear my mind in repetitions of three at different points in the day for me to "function". I also must have certain things absolutely perfect before I can move on with my day. It's quite embarrassing.
My OCD is very similar to yours slight imperfections in hair or skin result in severe panic and I find somedays I am unable to eat as a result. I also am very thin which is a source of panic and results in constantly changing as well often due to the "feel" of clothes I have very specific clothes I wear. I suffer extremely if things are not exactly predictable.
Thank you for making this. It is an extremely accurate portrayal of life with OCD!

@tompennock ive suffered with it since i were 12 years old, im now 26 its very severe, im on medication for it, makes you wonder if you will ever b cured of it ?
Hi: Yes, OCD is terrible and I don't care for the stigma for these types of illnesses. It's a medical problem and being an imbalance of the neurotransmitters it should be treated like diabetes which also is an imbalance. I have secondary depression and panic attacks with this too. People don't understand these types of illnesses either. I have had many people tell me there is no such thing. To get with it. Get a job. I had panic attacks beginning at age seven.at school.
@tompennock yes, depression and panc attacks i have too :( i wouldnt wish OCD on my worst enemy. i honestly think health proessionals do not take OCD too serious (from experience) they send you off with pills and hope for the best, i have been waiting for councelling for over two years, i have only just been placed in a 'OCD group', which i am still waiting for the date for it to take place. @waritgreen I think everyone has their little irritations but with OCD you do things like that because you feel like if you don't something bad will happen. You don't just simply do them. All of the rituals in this video people will do to try and ward off anxiety.
So for anyone with OCD, I hope this makes sense. I got completely over OCD by performing the opposite of ay ritual. In other words, if I had to switch a lamp switch on 4 times (my lucky number) I would take the total uncomfortable feeling that comes with not performing the ritual as the "punishment" for protecting my loved ones. After a while of doing this I just stopped doing it. I hope this helps a few with this annoying affliction.
I have OCD also, I can not send e-mails without checking them and changing them multiple times. I also have to check on just about everything even when I know the answer. I used to think I was going crazy and that I was so different than everybody else. It was not until my first daughter was having problems and after years of high priced doctors who could not diagnose her issue did we finally learn about OCD. After that I realized that was my problem also. I and her both take meds which help.
Just found out today I might have OCD where I have to keep checking things. For example I have to check that the car or door or something with a lock is locked multiple times or if I put something I'n my pocket or bag I have to keep checking it's there when I know it already is.
I think you're really brave and special. I can really relate to this, alot. I hope that you have or can find a like minded or understanding partner, you seem like a nice, well raised guy and you deserve all the happiness in the world. Best of luck for the future.
I used to have extremely bad OCD. It haunted me for 10 years. It ruined my life. I still feel suffer from the effects of it everyday. From repeating something like 3 times to avoiding doing things from fear of making my OCD worse. I eventually decided to stop doing my constant rituals. Been free of OCD for 3 years and could not be happier. No regrets. If u want it to stop then just stop doing ur rituals and u will feel better. It's very hard, but worth it in the end. Good luck to people trying
the most effective way to treat OCD is to not do what you do !!! i know its not easy as said , but atleast see what happens by not doing it and by simply watching the imperfection , stare at it for hours and just get used to it being that way
WOW! you poor darling! do you know the root cause... of how this all began? was it your parents teaching you things and scolding you for incorrectly doing them? I'm intrigued...
I had OCD when I was 13, 14 where everything in my room was aligned perfectly, I'm not sure if that counts, but I couldn't prevent myself from doing it during that time period, one day I just stopped doing it... I don't know how that works.
I've gone a long time learning about different things and gaining awareness about issues such as OCD, because I hope to help people who are struggling with it. Little did I recognize that after all of the times I've gotten in trouble for being "unorganized" , rushing (after spending obscene amounts of time in the mirrow changing clothes) that I struggle with OCD as well. Thanks for this video, I see alot myself in it.
hey. i am an ocd patient too...suffering one hell of anxiety. compulsions there is a medicion Zolpidem (Ambien)..it called zolpidem in my country..its salt is ambien..for my brothers and sisters who are in various countriesit really relaxes and normalises u for some timeno medicine works for me like this..please try this..its an ordinary medicine for anxiety and sleeping but it really works
I noticed you said "people in my house" not "my family". I understand. you may not have meant to, but I caught it. I can empathize for you so much. OCD makes you an island from everybody. It makes it hard to get close to people because they shove you away for being too much to handle. My family has given up on me. I have 1 friend. It takes over your life. I hate it.
@UnderTheOldOakTree Its the same for me. People around are starting to give up on me cause i cant hug them, i cant be close to them, i cant have them in my house because they will contaminate it and i will be up for 12 hours cleaning every corner of my house and vaccuming the floor 5 times. It sucks so bad and i cant stand it, i've hurt so many people.. or my OCD has.
I have a thing for even numbers. Especially the number 8. Ohhh I love it. And with the mozarella sticks the way you had to put them in the pan that's me too. I have so many obsession OCD deligate's everything in my life.
I admire your courage for making this video; not many would come forward and openly admit they have a problem with something like this. Some of the things you OCD about creep me out, but I found this video incredibly insightful. Kudos! :D
@JenJW its a good feeling (in a way) to know so many people go through what I do. I have OCD, Panic/Anxiety, Depression & either bipolar or aspergers but they havent fully determined that yet & i'm getting completely natural treatment, herbal only, no chemicals
For me, if I touch something, I have to feel the equal touch, on the opposite part of me. For instance, if I brush my right finger against a wall, I'll intentionally rub my left finger on something of the same texture so they feel evened out. I haven't been diagnosed with OCD but I've done this all my life. I don't know what it is. There's other things too, but yeah/
@EmPowerUrGeneration I do the same thing! im Glad there is someone else who feels what i feel, i think of it of having to be balanced and equal otherwise something bad will happen. ive been diagnosed with a minor case of OCD and we are seeking therapy currently. Just wanted to let you know someone feels what you are feeling :)
i do the same, and i have to match my breaths to it and say things in my mind or under my breath.. all these in odd numbered sequences, specifically around the number 3 ... if i do it right and still i seem to have misplaced the energy because of the distance between each touch, time between each breath and words; i have to do it again 3 times; but that makes 2 sets of 3s. so ill do it again a 3rd time so its 3x3. the anxiety becomes physical aswell eh
liked this especially as i have ocd but i have to have everything even or i get paranoid!

for those that dont realize the 'coincidence' of Em's post, thats a thing a ton of people have. its not ocd, just a quirk.

My OCD and panic disorder have almost complete control of my life. It was very brave of you to make this video. I hope you got a good grade on it.

@EmPowerUrGeneration
i do the same, and i have to match my breaths to it and say things in my mind or under my breath.. all these in odd numbered sequences, specifically around the number 3 ... if i do it right and still i seem to have misplaced the energy because of the distance between each touch, time between each breath and words; i have to do it again 3 times; but that makes 2 sets of 3s. so ill do it again a 3rd time so its 3x3. the anxiety becomes physical aswell eh
