  • Beautiful tone and playing. Great band too!

  • is that Dangeroud Dan Toler's old guitar?

  • reminds me a bit of Gary Moore

  • Were you boosting the amp with anything? I can't get my JTM45 to sound this aggressive yet warm by itself, even if I crank it. It gets way to muddy.

  • @KidCharlemagne94 Tubes, cab used, pickups used are big parts of the picture, sometimes treble boosters like the Dallas Rangemaster on top of an already dirty sound.

Dialing in the right input gain is crucial with these amps, so a big part of this tone is futzing with the volume knob to dial in specific amount of dirt. With single coils, a clean boost can help too. These amps are made to control dirt via the volume knob - 10 should be slight overkill, 8 about right, 3 or 4 is clean(ish).

  • TONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • this is probably the 100th time I've watched this video! the BEST tone on youtube and in the world!

  • awesome!!! what were the amp settings please???

  • dream tone !!!!

  • You have the best tone on all these videos I've heard on youtube and thats saying something. What 20 watt speakers are in the cab and are they original pickups!?

    Cheers,

    Joel.

  • Hi I read on one of the forums that this JTM is a PA. Is that true. Great Amp. All the old Marshalls ( Lead, Bass, PA etc) are killer. Cheers.

  • @59TweedVibrolux it isnt a pa amp no

  • @59TweedVibrolux Actually, that head is PA spec. No bright cap on the volume or mixers.

  • @59TweedVibrolux the amp pictured on the forums certainly is a PA head ... having experimented with this circuit a pa head would be a good plce to start... adding 560pf bright caps till you got the sound you are after

could be the forum amp is a different amp ?

  • Looking for Vintage KT66 MINT condition 1950's. Search "emitron kt66" in ebay!! I would put a link but i can't.

    Emitron KT66 in ebay

  • killer tone!!!

  • awesome, The gibson is R9 or R0?

  • @poule1975 its a vintage 1957 goldtop refinished

  • @poule1975 when are you assholes gonna realize that reiisues amps or guitars are total garbage..boy they got you asswipes fooled..keep payin thousands for your reissues..idiots

  • Wow, is this only the Marshall and the Les Paul or did you use some boost or drive pedals?

  • Wow, men! What a great perfomance! Keep them coming... Do you know a Manley hi-end amplifier that work with KT66 (home audio)? If you get any information, please let me know. By the way, I've posted two Manley EL34 amp videos here at YT ("EL34 Manley Snapper) and your comments will be much appreciated.

  • Yeah that's kewl

  • Is this a real Cream tune or just a Jam in

    the style of Cream?

  • yes its a cream tune

its the live version of sleepy time time

  • pretty freakin cool!

  • Sick Marshall tone!

  • Ouch on the intonation...

  • I think the intentional "out" playing actually sounds pretty cool here. It's not like this guy couldn't play in so I'm sure it was intentional.

  • If you say so.

  • playing with off intonation doesn't flow with the song as much, but it adds a lot of feeling to it, it sounds pretty cool when you do it the right way

  • My favorite "tone" video on YT....this guy can really play and when you add the right components, it's magic. And people wonder what makes those albums so magic....here it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why can't this video be another 59 minutes longer? This is tone to die for,and great playing.

  • Cause he'd run out of faces to make

  • lool

  • @leftystrat62 then it would be a cream album LOL

  • would you recommend KT66 power tubes for a fender amp (hot rod deville)?

  • Yes , it's great !!!

  • This is the machine time and we're en 1966

  • You nailed it! I keep coming back for more..

  • This is tone.

  • Man Can you please post your settings that you had for this video? cause i just bought a vintage modern and the low dynamic range is based of this amp...thnx!

  • your not gonna get a vintage modern to sound like this...your gonna have to play around with the settings and see if you can get close and they'll probably be a lot different then his.

  • If it's based on this amp, then crank everything except for the bass and turn the volume all the way up and you'll be able to get a close enough tone. :p

  • What mic was used to mic this beast? Great tone!!

  • A few years back. Remember seeing it and.. I think either Duane's peacock shirt or strap was up for sale at one point.

  • I saw that on ebay.

  • when did you see it

  • sweet tone! fantastic!

    what preamp tubes?

  • kt66 valves and brimars

  • that sounds great....is there reverb added to the gtr too? sounds like there is some extra ambiance thx

  • i believe a slight reverb was added at mix down

  • The guy makes some great faces but he can't bend a note in tune...

  • And with all the videos you have posted of you playing,it's very apparent that you can???

  • Who is betts toler and why aren't there more video's on this guy-he is fantastic!!Best tone I've ever heard

  • the guitar is the dickie betts goldtop that was refinished into a burst and then given to dan toler so it has become known as the betts toler burst............

The guy playing is udo pipper that writes for a german guitar magazine

  • tone snobs lol

  • Yeah! When it comes to THAT tone...:)

  • Anyone know which kind of pickups will give this tone?

  • Yeah - 40 year old ones.

  • It's more than that. You'll have to get after your amp a bit too. That's no bedroom volume tone. ;)

  • I'm well aware that it's not bedroom tone. :-) I was curious if any current production pickup, I'm guessing PAFs, would come close to this sound.

  • Try Tom Holmes Humbuckers or Wolfetone Dr. V's. ;)

  • Thanks, I'll check those out!

  • there are no pickups around that will give this exact tone because there are alot of variables involved......however wcr pickups have a custom wound pickup called bettset that is based on the pickups in this guitar

  • The greatest tone ever

  • Unreal!

  • one of the sweetest tones ive ever heard

  • I had read somewhere that the guitar belonged to Dickie Betts.

  • Hi the guy playing is called udo pipper and yes this guitar did belong to dickie betts as a goldtop before it was refinished

  • hey... who is this guy? why isn't playing live.. he is awesome

  • Uuuiiijuijuiiii, ned vom Stuhl runterfalle`, gell Udo?

  • You guys know good music, Cream. Thanks

  • great tones man.

    You have the feeling.

    ABRAXAS

  • so damn great tone!

  • That Les Paul sounds classic!

  • The holy grail of Les Paul Marshall combinations - there is more than meets the eye I assure you in getting that tone - thankyou so much for putting this up on YT, as a result I've been able to track down the tone for myself!

  • i'll trade you my peavey for that jtm45? call me...

  • Cool!
