I never could understand why someone would take a bowl with a very THICK liquid, and pour it into a bowl with a very thin liquid, and then scrape, scrape, scrape the thick liquid out of the bowl, when it makes much more sense to pour the thin liquid (bowl #2) into the thick mixture bowl (bowl #1). :-)

No, not to my knowledge, you specifically need Borax. I would hate to see you try it with and it not work. That would be a waste of glue.

this works fine I did how ever put the food color into the glue first then the glue into the bowl then the water into the bowl then added the water borax mixture into the glue water and food coloring mixture and it created no mess set quick and is awesome my 5 year old did the project along with me and it was a great sensory/science experiment thank you

Thanks for your comment. This experiment was done from an actual recipe. You may have a different one. This one works perfectly fine and has been a success througout her career. She is doing an exceptionaly fine job thanks.

I think she should have put the food colour in the gleu and not the water, thats why the gleu didn't take the green.
