@crush40fan101 my goal this year is to break 4:25, but im not the biggest fan of high mileage...lol. also my coach has this thing where he doesn't let freshman get over 60 miles per week soo thats nice for me cause im not used to the high mileage yet ( the freshman mile record is 4:28 )
my name is Chase La Bonne and i ran a 4:37:56 as an 8th grader; same with a great competitor who was a hair behind me named Zach Snyder. We both hope to be as good as Lukas and i was wondering if there was anything i could do to help me get better besides practice ? like work on my breathing or strides etc. Feedback would be soooo great! thanks
I saw your times and you're pretty fast for a frosh. I would focus on speedwork and getting in lots of good miles in. If you want to be as fast as Lukas, try to run faster than a 4:20 this year as a goal. Good luck.
verzbicas has been training on a pro schedule since he was young. while he is very talented, i don't believe he'll be noticed on the professional level. also very full of himself and egotistical
Oshier would have had it. Jantzen went out and lead at a pace he couldn't hold. Verzbicas is a 2miler and Jantzen is an 800/1600 guy. He should have sat and kicked and i know for a fact that Jantzen could out gut anybody on that line. It would have been a kick finish and Jantzen's the only one who could do it. Gedyon too but Oshier was the one to beat Verzbicas but that early lead cost him the race and he dies.. he was nervous and he made a bad move.
Too bad Oshier had a bad finish. He could have broken 4 as well and could have possibly beaten Verzbikas. He ran 4:00 for a 1600m at state finals. Guess he just couldn't quite finish that last lap. Still an amazing race!
Verzbicas quit running for Oregon. He quit while the team was still trying to get to nationals. He is going to focus on triathlons now at the University of Colorado.
I think Mudd could've easily done it if he would've planned his infamous kick better. he ran a 4:03 at state after running a 1:49 800, and went on to be part of the state champion 4x4 team. was fcking crazy state meet.
Very likely you'll have 4:15 at best, especially if you're new at all. You're young (frosh/soph years are the last "young" years of running), so have still yet to find your groove, and most early runners have a jump in improvement, so 15s alone would be spectacular. I'd tell you to watch out for the infamous "sophomore slump", but you seem motivated enough so keep it up! 4:30 as a freshman is awesome and I bet you'll have huge improvement before you graduate.
I was just able to upload my video of the same race - not perfect either - I was concentrating on my son Billy O so sometimes the leaders are not shown, and the finish unfortunately blurred, but for anyone who wants another view, it's posted. Search Dream Mile 2011 or theseus2010 videos.
Dang. I can't even imagine how fast he will be in the future, especially considering that this was on a wet track in the cold. However, I will be interested to see if he retains this trend of rampant record-smashing in college and beyond.
Hey, at least you got the video. It is the only one I could find. As for the critics. He did what only 4 High School boys have ever done. The result is what matters.
Lukas's splits weren't actually too bad it was the pacer that got the 57 second first quarter, Lukas had about a 60.2 first quarter and then a 61.9 second quater then his last half mile was somewhere around 1:57 low! As I said not that bad of splits if you actually take the weather and the bad pacing of the rabbit into account. I still do think he could've ran around a 3:56 at least with perfect conditions.
@yrug4y444 Hahah...I thought you were using a tripod and the camera was not rotating smoothly on it. That happened to me. I film much better without the tripod. Brrrrrr!!!
