I’ve worked for several years as a building contractor specialising in constructing Mosques- I’m not Muslim myself, just experienced in this field.
Trouble is, I’m now being forced to attend meetings with Imams to “learn & accept the true principals of Islam”. These include dodgy stuff like “rejection of all Western values” & “destroying filthy women who make themselves impure”. I then need to ‘prove myself’ with some ‘act of faith’.
Dunno- I need the work, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

Several of my friends and one of the best teachers I have ever had are Muslim. @aa42217 Well, here's another thing. The reason why you get those statistics is because there are differences in parameters for measurements. In Western countries, a woman who claims to have been raped does not need 4 male or 8 female witnesses to testify for her for it to be considered rape. Other evidences such as DNA testing is used. Additionally, in Muslim countries, the lack of equality before the law and rule of law meant that any sexual crimes are unlikely to ever see the light of day.

Nice statistics... I have no way of telling if your statistics are true or exaggerated. However, how can we compare these against muslim countries? The statistics in certain muslim countries are very poor in these areas due to the sexual inequality that exists. Many rapes go unreported.. death by stoning can be a good deterrent (depending on country). A woman's testimony is half that of a man. Lack of democracy and freedom of press also mean lack of transperency.

Also, how do you define rape or sexual harassment? An arranged marriage may be a forced marriage. In the west, Sex of any kind against a woman's will is rape, even within a marriage. However, I doubt that is counted in "official statistics" of Muslim countries. In essence, I don't think it is honest to sprout Western statistics when there are no corresponding equally defined Muslim statistics. I'm not saying the West is better, just that we can't compare.
