The hitch looks perfect. The distance will allow them to turn the wagon more easily. Its a wagon not a carriage The diameter of the wheels only affects the wagon if you are going over rough ground. Because they are pulling with collars they can pull much much more than if they were in breast collars. Though I wouldn't take this rig up and down hill much on level ground they are doing great. I saw a team of small Shetlands once pull a sledge with a thousand pounds on it, with no wheels.
Oh no, that carriage is far too big. The ponies are too far away from the carriage what makes it even heavier to pull. And the little wheels makes it even MORE heavier. This combination is SO wrong. The carriage is nice, the ponies are great, I bet the people are nice too but the combi, nope.

Might be too much weight for these little guys. that's a LARGE carriage.
