There needs to be a serious reappraisal of captive breeding programmes relating to

Orcas. Captive breeding has been an overall failure, as evidenced by the growing

catalogue of failed births and pregnancy-related adult deaths. This failure, combined

with a shortage of adult males and the consequent depletion of the gene pool, suggests

that it is now time to call a halt. -WDCS
