This once again goes to show that many people (often Americans) don't know how to handle the recoil of guns like these. Doesn't surpise me - a friend of mine saw a member of the US forces try to shoot a german MG3 (which is basically an MG42, just modified to have a lower firing rate) and it he almost planted on his back ^^ If compared to the recoil of a, say, M-16 or even M249..
There is a video somewhere around here, where someone free-handedly wields two M-249. Try that with one of these...
My comment was neither about Americans "in general", nor about marksmanship...call me a bean counter, but I didn't even talk about the Marines in particular.
It's all only about the mere technical aspect of recoil.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I never said that US forces are bad marksmen; they aren't.
Long story short:
Easy tiger, I'm into tech stuff here, not politics.
Well i could see quite a few people having trouble with the mg42s recoil seeing as it fires an 8x57 196 grain round. Whoever you are, when you let loose with a burst of that, your gonna know it.
The guy in the white shirt seems fairly light, so that doesnt help him when firing it.
MG3 is in 7.62x51 and the mg42 Is in 8x57. So theres a caliber difference as well.
the germans know what they're doing

Go talk to a US Marine and challenge him to a marksmanship competition.
then make your judgments about Americans
