I am British and i am deeply offended by comments attacking our NHS the plain truth is we are a healtier nation and pay less for the service the trick is not to treat the illness at the end but treat it early to prevent disease from manifesting itself. The republican politics are all lies and what they have been saying is outrageous. Hawking uses the NHS and to say we dont look after our elderley is rich when your hospitals dump cancer patients on the street if they cant pay there bill.
and you can always add privet insurance on top on NHS funding so if you really want to pay the extra if you think that the public option isn't enough you can go to a privet clinic.
ok guys a simple thing for you to take away 78.1 year the average life expectancy of the untied states 80.1 the average life expectancy of the united kingdom
and yours costs a lot more per person and covers less people and overall seems to do a worse job
@MondoBeno the education has falling back in quailty in resent years in manufacturing but I think that's mainly due to the fact that there were hardly any jobs being created in it though
Britain has caps on malpractice torts, so the physicians don't have to pay all that malpractice insurance. Education costs less, so your GP isn't struggling to pay back $200,000 in student loans.
A lot of elderly people in the UK have been let down by the NHS. Its not the NHS thats the problem though, its due to the country being packed to the rafters.
Say what you will about the NHS, but it's supported by the overwhelming majority of Britons. Governments may try to make efficiency savings, but never challenge the principle of universal healthcare. The NHS makes me thankful to be British rather than American.
@wangsta25 haha, typical british ignorance and bigotry against Americans. why do you guys hate americans so much? geeze
also, to say that americans don't know about socialism is a pretty dogmatic statement. you've probably only met like 2 americans in your entire lifetime in real life haha
@FATRgames "haha, typical british ignorance and bigotry against Americans. why do you guys hate americans so much? geeze" Well that’s just as bad as what he put but his was intended as a funny joke from an add we have here it’s quite witty learn to take a bit of banter, unfortunately yours is only funny due to the massive irony of writing that we are all ignorant and hateful and go on to wonder why you are hated, poor show. Maybe one day you will understand why.
@wangsta25 I'm American and I live in the South, I talk to a lot of people and they don't seem to understand socialism. People ALWAYS confuse socialism with communism or fascism; these are completely different things. Not everyone in Europe supports socialism but at least most of them actually know what it means. We throw the word "socialism" at anything that we find unattractive. A bit of intellectualism won't hurt every now and then.
It's true, NHS dentistry sucked. One dentist I went to couldn't understand why I wanted straight teeth. Hm, perhaps it had something to do with being able to eat a sandwich properly?
@Tzelemel most British don't have to pay for the dentist but if you do it's only £16, £40 for most treatment or £200 for every form of treatment you could need no matter the time req. if the dentist says you mouth is in horrific condition and u need full treatmentyou can get help with that £200. and British people have amazingly good teeth. i've never had to pay to see a dentist here in the uk and the same is true and always will be for the majority of people. nhs dentists are everywhere here
I broke my arm when I was 13, cost to me on the NHS to fix it: £0. If I had done it in the USA, even as a USA citizen: $500 or more. I pay maybe £5 in national insurance a month (yes, chronic illness or serious injuries may be expensive but I'm talking day to day injuries and illness). I'd say over the USA we win in that department!
Russel Howard said it best "Dont knock the NHS its like Wayne Rooney, it looks like shit but it gets the job done."
I have a cyst in my back at the moment, its very painful and ill have to wait a month to get it out but i dont have to fork over a whole bunch of cash to get it removed. So i say win.
haha as soon as he said "Guardian" I knew he'd be pro NHS - but yeah left or right politics EVERYONE here agrees that the NHS has been a massive success.
Legitimate complaints - NHS's rulebook for care doesn't allow for innovation. Their rules regarding age are ridiculous - there is no reason a doctor certified to treat a 16 year old can't treat a 15 year, 364 day old. Drug coverage under the system is abysmal, which means what is prescribed and how much is all subpar. If there wasn't as strict a rulebook for care and guidelines for what and how much of it can be prescribed, it would be a perfect system.
@ BasilFawlty4444: the guy’s a fool. The statistics from WHO are even more compelling. The two most relevant parameters for civilization (life expectancy and infant mortality) are better for the UK than the US. Meanwhile a US citizen pays three times more than a UK citizen for that privilege.
That’s what happens when you have a system that allows big business to make money from the suffering of its citizens.
I agree that the Americans have been told a pack of lies about the NHS. However, the politicians are now trying to destroy the NHS and death panels are going to become more and more a reality as they are already a reality in the US.
The NHS regularly lets people die - Hawkins was lucky. If it is not expedient or the odds of you living are not great, they put you on a death list and leave you be, often refusing treatment (sometimes). The extent of this practice is slowly coming to the foreground, but getting the truth out of the NHS is hard. The right-wing, in the US, were correct to point out the NHS sends man people to their deaths. But the US does the same in terms of the "almost poor" who cannot afford treatment.
@BasilFawlty4444 and I know people who have waited for months and months to almost a year. You were deemed fit to be saved, well well done you! Not much help for all those people deemed an "ill allocation of medical resources". You speak from experience!? LOL As if the rest of us aren't. I've got shitty treatment at the hospital I went to a few years ago. I don't pretend that means all NHS hospitals are shit.
I think you'll find doctors and nurses are all rude obnoxious possibly over worked, did I say rude.....I hate you...that goes for all people. you all suck DICK!
I live in the UK and Sarah Palin was right. We have death panels. Medicine is subject government. Our hospitals are a lottery. Some of us get the best, some of us get shoddy care and it's entirely linked to where you live.
You can't 'choose' your doctor outside the small pool in your local area. You're limited. There is limited reason for a doctor to provide you with good healthcare. He's getting paid no matter what.
You can't choose your hospital unless you are choosing a specialist, and this was only a recent change.
The care is quality in some hospitals and poor in others. The conditions of some hospitals is outstanding, in others it is a disgrace and this has been well documented.
@BasilFawlty4444 So it's not nonsense as you don't know what the hell you're talking about. You don't even live here. You had a great experience? So what? Many of us have had horrible experiences with the NHS and we have no control over it. It's the doll of the dice.
@theredraven Aneurin Bevan, Clement Attlee and most of the post-war Labour politicians were self-identified socialists.
Under the Attlee government (1945-1951), 20% of the British economy was nationalised, including - steel, coal, public transport, car manufacturers, telephones, gas, electricity, water...... and more!
@BasilFawlty4444 I was talking about Bevridge who invented the idea before the Labour Party stole it.
And your post also demonstrates the failures of the Attlee government. Governments should not be running the car industry. More control freak tendencies.
I agree. The NHS needs to apply equally to every postcode. This is one case where more central control makes sense.
But remember that the US is a private system - if you really want that, you have BUPA to turn to. The US system is here in the UK if you really want it.
I recommend universal healthcare simply because bad health is unavoidable - you WILL need it at some point. Savvy business men know that too and will charge you the earth for a cure. Choose.
@jazzx251 It is the central control that creates the post code lottery. BUPA is "not" the US system, in that it has no competition, thus no free-market pressures. That being said the US system is not really free market as it's an insurance system which cannot be sold over state lines. Plenty of other problems come with that. Savy business men under a free market (which is not present in the US) would drive the price down. Most of the meds the NHS uses were invented in the US.
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl The idea we have bad teeth is to do with our culture and diet , not the universal healthcare system like some yanks think. As you said , we have very short waiting times (around 5-10 minutes for dentist , 0m -30m in hospital depending on how serious.)
death panels exist within the nhs there are many legitimate complants like poor detistry hey clark tell that to the victims of the saline drip serial killer or the victims of the dead infants in furness the nhs is a outdated shit heap sponsored in the first place by hardworking american taxpayers through the marshall plan and loans
@teslaprojects If he is a "itellictual genius-cunty" rest assured he is in far far better position than likes of you being a thick stupid-cunty. BTW itellictual? I think you mean "intellectual"
@LGJamster The NHS should be for British people and those who are paying towards it, if a massive influx of people were to come into the UK and not pay towards the NHS it would buckle under the pressure. Its not fair on people who actually pay their taxes
@Preacherjonson good point thats one of the main reasons the nhs is unsustainable on top of that camerons cuts will mean more uncessary deaths the poor and elderly will suffer the most.the nhs is proof of why the apartied style class system practiced in the uk is seen as the only way to go by wealthy people who are unaffected by the infant deaths in furness, saline serial killers, filthy hospitals staffed with illiterate imports the british people deserve much better.
@teslaprojects Just so im clear are you saying criminals/non taxpayers/ those who can afford it shouldn't get it? Sorry im just not quite sure what you're saying and dont want to cause any complications xD
@Pilkingtube hawkins used the nhs hes loaded but he would never dream of paying for private healthcare.americans dont be fooled the nhs provides excellent healthcare for those that it deems deserving if your poor you are screwed.
Yes - at the time this was being debated, the right wing suggested, upon Hawking's visit to the US, that socialised medicine would have left him dead by now.
But ... he's an NHS patient. When he caught motor neuron, he was a lowly student. Without the NHS, we would not have had 40 years of genius. Under the US system, he would have withered and died - and been branded as a "loser" for being uninsured (and above all unwealthy).
@jazzx251 On the other hand, I imagine a lot of the technology Steven uses was developed in America. Also, he's been very lucky. Regardless of which country they live in, most people with MND will die within a few years anyway. He's an exception to the rule, along with a few others who have lived longer than four or five years.
@Pilkingtube this is the one that insulted me as a Brit the most.
i have had tens of relatives that owe their lives to the NHS and its staff.
Americans are so caught up in their capitalism that they cant see that a baseline, government-funded healthcare system is needed so that 50% (last time i checked) of people who dont have private healthcare plans (probably one of the most greedy and un-ethical practises on the planet) still have access to life-saving surgery and such forth.
@Pilkingtube The fascist powers in America that exploit their victims for profit are also doing the same thing to Canada. They seek to penetrate our country and start exploiting Canadian people who are sick, or unhealthy. The amoral elite that rules America today is increasingly desperate to find justification for what is a failed system of pure greed - it does not fail the powerful - but it fails the masses, by denying care, or by ripping them off, making them pay the 'profit margin' or die.
@jazzx251 ... in italy is quite the same .. everithing kinda sucks -) ... but the health care is still working fine ... you pay small taxes if you get a good salary ... totally free if you earn less then 10.000 euros a year ..
Lol free health care in the uk is good, I broke my finger a while ago had abou 8 xrays FOR FREE. But i must say, the hospital people are so fucking lazy.
@laptoplarryspc Sorry I don't think you have TURRETS SYNDROME. The syndrome you refer too is spelt "Tourette syndrome" and while the symptoms of Tourette's can include involuntary exclamations of foul language I suspect all you are suffering from is being a stupid foul mouth idiot a much more common affliction among the young than Tourette's. Regards, hoping you grow out of it soon.
@davijeph still trolling around making purile comments about peoples spelling you are sure one childish motherfucker.its impossible to outgrow imbreeding and even at your age your hypertension is no excuse the only thing hypo about you is your brain function turdbrain ive told you before there isnt a profanity that adequately describes parasites like you that sponge of the nhs at the expense of the poor and vunerable (kids and the elderly) and sleeps well at night.
@teslaprojects How can I be sponging of the NHS if I have been paying into for over fifty years and over all that time have only really used its services twice? Given that you are in the US and despite your vitriol against the NHS you have never explained what you would replace it with. I am interested (not really) in how you would replace the NHS. If the NHS was scraped how would the poor and even average income earners or retired like me afford the 100% quality medical cover we now receive?
Fact-check alert: NHS spending rose on average 4.3% annually under Margaret Thatcher. If Andrew Clark wants to criticise Daniel Hannan for unsubstantiated statements about the NHS, he would do well to follow his own advice.
can any american answer me what are the poor who cannot afford health insurance supposed to do I mean you guys always go on about if there is a disaster you are the most giving country on earth but you cannot or will not even look after your own people
why do americans thing that europe is socialist we are as free mark capitalist as you can get if having social programs that help people who need it is socialist then maybe lenin was rigtht
@wolf99000 lol - Britain invented free trade and globalisation - and were more successful at it than America has been. Some (not all) Americans will label something as communist or fascist if they don't understand it, simple as that.
@blueray1969 as a candian living the uk I can only say good thinks about he nhs helped me no end when I was pregnet and when I gave birth and since and for free is it perfect no but what is
crazy thing is if bush had put the obama health care plan up the right would have loved it fact is all these people on te right wing should go back and work out how they let bush have 2 wars a tax cut for the rich and a ton of other stuff without paying for any of it
@wolf99000 yep - good point. I guess these are americans that would sooner see the pockets of insurance companies being lined with cash than everyone receiving decent health-care. They have no shame whatever.
i broke my foot a week ago i went into my hospital had 2 x rays then consultation and had the plaster on my foot and had my cruthes and i was out in half an hour this happen a week ago ohhhh and i get free strong pain killers
Britain is home to the world's greatest Capitalist (Margaret Thatcher) BUT we still love the NHS. We're not Socialist.. We just feel that Health care shouldn't be a free market priority.
How come this idiot MurderedTheDevil got 19 thumbs up for his pathetic comment, while I who raised some interesting points as well as posed a question didn't get any?
Explain why London, England is witnessing mass demonstrations over Health cuts by the Government. This is the Government's way of shutting down the NHS to go private like the first world nations. More and more Britains are going private each year, right across the health system. The British I feel, are once again being dumbed down by their governments 'put up or shut up' tactics.
@angels77100 The current wave of strikes and demonstrations have little or nothing to do with the NHS as such and everything to do with the need (or not) to adjust pensions and retirement age across a wide range of public sector jobs including, civil servants, teachers, health, council, university etc, etc
@angels77100 uve got that wrong the rest of the first world pretty much has socialised healthcare only america has private healthcare while the rest o0f us have it for free
My stance: NHS is one of Labours if not Britains greatest achievements, I've never heard of anyone I know complain about it other than one republican american who is well off enough to afford private healthcare.
When we went to america my sister tripped and attained a bruise on her face, mom was resistant to taking her to the docs for fear of her being taken away for child abuse.
In america my dad cut his hand, and spent the rest of the evening in the hospital for four stiches that cost $100
@laptoplarryspc davijeph is just a parasitic arsehole who thinks its ok for people like him to sponge off a system at the expense of poor sick people the nhs is fucked mostly because of people like him who think the world revolves around them the deaths of poor sick people are less important to him than spelling and grammer what a cuntz!
@aaleric What? Listen dude, if Hawking had been treated in the US, he'd be able to compete in the Superbowl and give a presidential speech at the next election. Canada's health system is similar to the NHS, is that why 66 million Canadians came to the US last year as Health-tourists? Or the pregnant British woman who waited 3 years on the NHS to have her baby delivered was finally forced to come to the US to have it here? I rest my case.
@moneybagzz Well your not saying much for the US health care system when the average UK citizens lives longer than the average US one. You have much higher child mortality. Nearly 45,000 people die in the US each year in large part because they lack health insurance and can not get good care. Health Care Costs Cause a Bankruptcy in America Every 30 Seconds. in 2008 there were15.4% US citizens in the US who were without health insurance millions more did not have quality insurance. REGARDS
@moneybagzz Waiting lists have little or no bearing on mortality rates. People can get healthcare here immediately instead of having to wait to sell their home to pay for healthcare as seen in the US.
@IMurderdTheDevil Daniel Hannan isn’t a proper political figure, he’s a MEP and that means they are failed national political party member, MEPs are also bought off like the American politicians. I might be a Tory supporter but I believe in keeping our NHS, it’s our right as is the right to vote, access to an education & access to a state pension. Daniel Hannan is on the EU gravy train, with the other slimy scum of Europe.
Well I have just seen SiCKo by moore and wonderful America hospitals are dumping patients out on the street if they can’t afford health care, a baby girl died in a hospital after another hospital refused to treat her because they are not covered by the insurance the holder had, and a man having to made a choose of saving a $12000 finger or the $60,000 finger – How civilized America is, in regards to being a third world country.
Funny thing is, Iran has better health care for it’s people!!
If the British man was born and grew up in Peru to multi millionaire ultra far right wing parents. Given the most expensive tuition and private education money can buy. Never unless he needs emergency aid in the UK use the NHS. Now lives in Spain, never had to work for his vast wealth unless its self promotion to further his own self interests and political agenda the leader of the British Conservative party had every right to "slap him down".
@IMurderdTheDevil Americans are born into the system and can't see how life can be lived in any other way they are born close minded that they are the best country with the ultimate way of living. When it's widespread knowledge that Americas Laws and health care aren't great. your politicians and corporations rape other countries so stop complementing your country and start criticising it other wise it'll be this way for a long long time. people power.
@TheGreatBritishAlex I think that we have a BULLSHIT SYSTEM in america,,,but what I said about europeans is true,,YOU ARE BORN INTO THIS SYSTEM, you did not bring about its creation you only benefited from it! that is my point, America can not afford this entitlement, no one is working not enough tax payers, if we can't pay our bills now what makes you think that people can give more to the government?
@IMurderdTheDevil The US Healthcare system started during WWii in order to attract workers companies started in include healthcare insurance into the renumeration package so is an older system than the UK's national heath which started after the war. More Americans have been born into the US system for a longer time than UK citizens. The cost to the average US citizen is around $7000 the cost to the average UK citizen $3000. Please see “the U.S. Healthcare system in international Context”
@IMurderdTheDevil - are really suggesting that everyone paying some money to insure that everyone in the land will get medical help is a bad thing? - you are right, we FORCE people to HELP each other . we dont just watch them die
@IMurderdTheDevil hey, hey, back up! No one in Britain is forced into anything! there is a thriving private sector alongside the NHS and we are free to use it at any point. I choose my doctor and if my doctor isn't available I can be seen by one of the other doctors in the practise. You need to get your head out of the clouds and start producing case studies of where the NHS has grievously failed someone and it could have been avoided! Thank you and goodbye!
@lizziedavidson1987 You people are gone,LOL! were do you come from,,Not Forced, really? you pay for it through taxes without having made an arguement. One more time, you people were born into it..BACK UP!
@IMurderdTheDevil I come from Scotland, thanks for asking. Which IS part of the UK and has the NHS. I know what I'm talking about and you STILL haven't come up with case studies! I will therefore remain silent until you do because I have already made my point!
@IMurderdTheDevil don't comment on a system you know nothing about, you haven't stepped one foot into an NHS, Hospital. we weren't forced into it, our grandparents voted labour into to power because they wanted change from the 1930's, if you want to you can Choose private, like BUPA, even private agency nurses work in NHS hosptals. do the math $9000 deductibles or £30 pw tax{depending on which tax code i know which i'd choose
@T2theI2thedoubleMY No! i'm not rich and you can't say that I am lying,my facts are correct, you were born into a system that you can't see living without it...
@IMurderdTheDevil Of course I was, we are all born into a "system" of some sort. I am challenging what was obviously a criticism of social justice in Europe. Capitalism is a fundamentally unfair system which favors a wealthy few over the majority. In order to create a fairer society it is necessary to redistribute some of society's wealth. Only a wealthy person has reason to fear socialist values and they have somehow convinced most people in America that socialism is evil. Its pathetic really.
@IMurderdTheDevil no we are left to our own devices from day one we expect to get work earn money and pay our way like most other countries buttttttt the NHS is a gem and would be defended byt 95 per cent of brits we dont expect hand outs but we expect free healthcare its our human right not to worry about financial problems whilst where ill in hospital
@IMurderdTheDevil ohhh so what ur saying is it not its a human right under law in britain americans talk about free speech in which people can say wateva they like no matter how bad but thats more important than saving peoples lives isit the fact is it is a human right in all of europe and it seems u americans are years behind us give it ten years and u americans will have social healthcare and ull wonder wat all the fuss is about and most brits dnt believe in god where not dumb yanks lol
@IMurderdTheDevil my prime minister the person who makes the laws of my land so where im from it is a human right im just glad i live in britian so at least if i know i ll get i ll they will at least get treated ur mprobs somebody with a bit of money id like to c u cvahnge ur mind if u were skint
@IMurderdTheDevil ur aargument is so poor that i couldnt be bother taking u seriously hahaha and i really couldnt be bothered explaining why if people become ill they shouldnt just be left to get worse and if u dnt get that shame on u
@ruthio1 The NHS is a gem? WHAT!!! Listen buddy, your President Tommy Blair is announcing cut backs all the time, is there even any doctors left in England, UK? And explain why last year alone, almost 120 million Brits visited the USA as 'Health tourists'? Or why a Pregnant woman waiting 3 years to have her baby delivered on the NHS, had to travel to the USA to have it here? Touchdown to me I believe.
@angels77100 ummm our president ummm no we have a prime minister and our prime minister is david cameron not tony blair hahahaha and u was being cocky and ur clearly as thick as they come u clearly dnt know wat ur on about and the worst one of all the population of britain is 65 million how did u get 120 million british health tourists and how can a woman wait 3 years to have a baby this is to funny typical thick american who thinks he knows everythin ummm touchdown to me i believe hahahaha
@ruthio1 Look buddy, I've honestly no idea who your president is, but I know it used to some guy called Tommy Blair. And about the 120 million brits, they came twice didn't they? That pregnant British woman was featured on Fox News, I remember it well and was horrified and shocked by the NHS. Also Scotland (North England, uk) was featured showing it's people eating deep fried fruit, pizzas and chocolate covered candy bars. Yes you read that right. Disgusting or what dude? Rimshot!
@angels77100 ok let me stop u there again we have prime ministers in britain and we are on our second prime minister since TONY blair and lets make this clear your telling me that every person in britain went to america twice to visit a hospital ur talking rubbish mate oh and scotland is north enlgand isit hahahahahaha dnt believe anything fox says if its so bad why do 90% of brits approve of the nhs and if any politician tried to take it away there would be a revolution lol
@angels77100 and what does a miniority of scottish people eating fried choclate have anything to do with the nhs ur sooo thick i feel sorry for u and i ll tell u whats shocking america trying to tell everybody how to do things when they wont treat people in hospital if they dnt have money and have 90,000 homeless people in LA alone thats just sick and its impossible and ur pregnent woman comment is just foolish how could she be pregnent for 3 years how daft are u kid plz do some research owned
@ruthio1 Sir. Please could you use punctuation, full stops and comas in your typing. I don't really mind 'typos' misspellings etc, but when someone just types randomly, it's really difficult to comprehend. (Even for a smart person like me). Now back to your question. The result of savages like those in North England (Scotland) eating that garbage is the extra strain it places upon the NHS, who's resources are stretched to the max already by the weak fragile little British people.
@angels77100 im not writing a paper who cares for punctuation on you tube u should be more concerned of claiming your smart and think woman are pregnent for 3 years u claim 120 millions brits go to america for treatment that we have no doctors and that britain has a president called tommy hahahaha shame and in what way are brits weak where i live everybody is a rugby player and would proberbly smash u and in america everybodies to fat to do anything and has to have a crane to lift them out lol
@angels77100 ohhh yea heres more evidence of ur idiocy scotland is not in northern enlgand u fool that statement is beyond belief in stupidity plz before u reply dnt just write words do some research gain knowledge on whateva it is u want to debate then comeback to me with a good argument on what we are talking about and not sidetrack ontop ohhh they eat fried mars bars in scotland slash northern england hahahaha such a mug
@ruthio1 Did I, or did I not warn you about the need to punctuate your sentences? If you're going to continue in this childish kindergarten fashion (that even a 1st grader is capable of performing) then I see little point in continuing this debate as it's too difficult to comprehend what your actually attempting to type.
@angels77100 hahaha u know exactly uve made ur self into a fool by saying a load of rubbish that is all completely false and this is you tube and if ur only argument in punctuation then ive clearly won tell me how u can think a woman is pregnent for 3 yearsss hahahahaha and all of us brits went to america twice for treatment theres people who never leave london u absolute fooool hahaha and its easy to read there called words ohhhh wait there full stop ahhhh u dumbass
@ruthio1 Sorry, but your last comment was just mumbo jumbo. I understood that you laughed at the beginning, and ranted on about some pregnant woman or something about London UK. Sorry but you'll have to begin speaking American, I can't comprehend what you're trying to say.
@angels77100 I'm English, i didn't understand you either. One is a retard (ruthio) while you are a foreigner (you foreigners should be using your own language by the way)
America's flawed "healthcare" system is third world. I wouldn't send my dog there. Only the crime rate is a bigger problem in America
British doctor Stan Brock provides healthcare aid to over 200,000 Americans every year. Yes he does a great job, however it will take hundreds of Stan Brocks to treat America's sick.
@Ali74 Dude we speak American/English. The English, well I've honestly no idea what language they speak these days. Anyway, enough bickering about that. Back to your comment. Our Healthcare is the best in the world, as long as you've got insurance (which is a great way to motivate lazy people into getting jobs). No job, no money, no Health Insurance. The Americans who bash our system are those without insurance, they receive what is equivalent to Canada/UK's NHS. They are treated eventually.
@Ali74 in what way ive got a guy saying woman are pregnent for 3 years and 120 miilions brits go to america for healthcare and that our PRESIDENT YEA PRSIDENT is a gut called TOMMY and i put him straight and im a retard ovo u havnt read wat ive wrote becasue everythin i put is true and i can bk it up with proof so explain urself
@angels77100 Hahahahaha,ok then heres punctuation ok. Americans speak english not american you fool, you think woman are pregnent for 3 years, can you understand it to here thicko. Your claim that 130 millions brits went to america that was a number you made up, now just accept that your facts are wrong and i ll stop making you look like a fool.
@ruthio1 I beg to differ sir. 1. I speak American/English. 2. Fox News reported that story about the British pregnant woman. 3. It could have been 120 million, if they all visited twice, and not 130 million. 4. Tommy Blair the UK president, is hated by most British people because of his cut's and slashes in the NHS sector.
Touchdown! -(Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy <------ sound of crowd going wild.)
@angels77100 ok in the rest of the world its know as enlgish only in america isit american english hahaha and let me explain biology for u woman are only pregnent for 9 months my friend then even if she wanted to keep it the baby whould just pop out u fool yea and no TONY blair isnt even our prime minister so how could he cut anything he cant and our PRIME MINISTER isnt cutting NHS hes putting more money into i watch the debate over this yesterday
@angels77100 and 120 million is just rediculous try a couple hundred thousand so there u fool uve been burned again now come bk with real facts or dnt come bk at all
I am British and i am deeply offended by comments attacking our NHS the plain truth is we are a healtier nation and pay less for the service the trick is not to treat the illness at the end but treat it early to prevent disease from manifesting itself. The republican politics are all lies and what they have been saying is outrageous.

Tzelemel 3 weeks ago

NamronSeven 1 month ago
I agree that the Americans have been told a pack of lies about the NHS. However, the politicians are now trying to destroy the NHS and death panels are going to become more and more a reality as they are already a reality in the US.
MrLotineGuy 1 month ago
The NHS regularly lets people die - Hawkins was lucky. If it is not expedient or the odds of you living are not great, they put you on a death list and leave you be, often refusing treatment (sometimes). The extent of this practice is slowly coming to the foreground, but getting the truth out of the NHS is hard. The right-wing, in the US, were correct to point out the NHS sends man people to their deaths. But the US does the same in terms of the "almost poor" who cannot afford treatment.
Norcha8 1 month ago
@Norcha8 That is rubbish.
For major treatment, you don't have to wait more than a few weeks, for minor treatment, you can visit a doctor TODAY if you need to.
I speak from experience.

@BasilFawlty4444 and I know people who have waited for months and months to almost a year. You were deemed fit to be saved, well well done you! I live in the UK and Sarah Palin was right. We have death panels. Medicine is subject government. Our hospitals are a lottery. Some of us get the best, some of us get shoddy care and it's entirely linked to where you live.
Norcha8 2 months ago
@Norcha8 You can choose your doctor.
You can choose your hospital.
The care is quality.
The NHS is a triumph, and (yes I'll say it) a triumph of socialism. A rare form of socialism - good socialism.
Thank you Attlee! Thank you Bevan!
BasilFawlty4444 2 months ago
@BasilFawlty4444

@BasilFawlty4444 It was the idea of a Liberal. It isn't really Socialist at all.
theredraven 1 month ago
@theredraven Aneurin Bevan, Clement Attlee and most of the post-war Labour politicians were self-identified socialists.
Under the Attlee government (1945-1951), 20% of the British economy was nationalised, including - steel, coal, public transport, car manufacturers, telephones, gas, electricity, water...... and more!
I think it's safe to call them socialist.
BasilFawlty4444 1 month ago
@BasilFawlty4444 I was talking about Bevridge who invented the idea before the Labour Party stole it.
And your post also demonstrates the failures of the Attlee government. Governments should not be running the car industry. More control freak tendencies.
theredraven 1 month ago
@theredraven I said that Attlee and Bevan were socialists. I was right.
I never said that I agreed with nationalisation - I don't.
I simply approve of the implementation of the NHS and Welfare State that they oversaw.
BasilFawlty4444 1 month ago
@Norcha8
Choose.
jazzx251 1 month ago
@jazzx251 It is the central control that creates the post code lottery. BUPA is "not" the US system, in that it has no competition, thus no free-market pressures. That being said the US system is not really free market as it's an insurance system which cannot be sold over state lines. Plenty of other problems come with that. Savy business men under a free market (which is not present in the US) would drive the price down. Most of the meds the NHS uses were invented in the US.

Explain why London, England is witnessing mass demonstrations over Health cuts by the Government. This is the Government's way of shutting down the NHS to go private like the first world nations. It's all centered around criticising the service provided AFTER a service is established, eg waiting times, quality of care.
This is not an argument -- better to have a service than none at all!

- you are right, we FORCE people to HELP each other . we dont just watch them die
dan11009 7 months ago 12
@IMurderdTheDevil hey, hey, back up! No one in Britain is forced into anything! there is a thriving private sector alongside the NHS and we are free to use it at any point. I choose my doctor and if my doctor isn't available I can be seen by one of the other doctors in the practise. You need to get your head out of the clouds and start producing case studies of where the NHS has grievously failed someone and it could have been avoided! Thank you and goodbye!
lizziedavidson1987 7 months ago
@lizziedavidson1987 You people are gone,LOL! were do you come from,,Not Forced, really? you pay for it through taxes without having made an arguement. One more time, you people were born into it..BACK UP!
IMurderdTheDevil 7 months ago
@IMurderdTheDevil I come from Scotland, thanks for asking. Which IS part of the UK and has the NHS. I know what I'm talking about and you STILL haven't come up with case studies! I will therefore remain silent until you do because I have already made my point!
lizziedavidson1987 7 months ago
@IMurderdTheDevil don't comment on a system you know nothing about, you haven't stepped one foot into an NHS, Hospital. we weren't forced into it, our grandparents voted labour into to power because they wanted change from the 1930's, if you want to you can Choose private, like BUPA, even private agency nurses work in NHS hosptals. do the math $9000 deductibles or £30 pw tax{depending on which tax code i know which i'd choose

T2theI2thedoubleMY 7 months ago
@T2theI2thedoubleMY No! i'm not rich and you can't say that I am lying,my facts are correct, you were born into a system that you can't see living without it...
IMurderdTheDevil 7 months ago 2
@IMurderdTheDevil Of course I was, we are all born into a "system" of some sort. I am challenging what was obviously a criticism of social justice in Europe. Capitalism is a fundamentally unfair system which favors a wealthy few over the majority. In order to create a fairer society it is necessary to redistribute some of society's wealth. Only a wealthy person has reason to fear socialist values and they have somehow convinced most people in America that socialism is evil. Its pathetic really.

ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 The NHS is a gem? WHAT!!! Listen buddy, your President Tommy Blair is announcing cut backs all the time, is there even any doctors left in England, UK? And explain why last year alone, almost 120 million Brits visited the USA as 'Health tourists'? Or why a Pregnant woman waiting 3 years to have her baby delivered on the NHS, had to travel to the USA to have it here? Touchdown to me I believe.
angels77100 7 months ago
@angels77100 ummm our president ummm no we have a prime minister and our prime minister is david cameron not tony blair hahahaha and u was being cocky and ur clearly as thick as they come u clearly dnt know wat ur on about and the worst one of all the population of britain is 65 million how did u get 120 million british health tourists and how can a woman wait 3 years to have a baby this is to funny typical thick american who thinks he knows everythin ummm touchdown to me i believe hahahaha
ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 Look buddy, I've honestly no idea who your president is, but I know it used to some guy called Tommy Blair. And about the 120 million brits, they came twice didn't they? That pregnant British woman was featured on Fox News, I remember it well and was horrified and shocked by the NHS. Also Scotland (North England, uk) was featured showing it's people eating deep fried fruit, pizzas and chocolate covered candy bars. Yes you read that right. Disgusting or what dude? Rimshot!
angels77100 7 months ago
@angels77100 ok let me stop u there again we have prime ministers in britain and we are on our second prime minister since TONY blair and lets make this clear your telling me that every person in britain went to america twice to visit a hospital ur talking rubbish mate oh and scotland is north enlgand isit hahahahahaha dnt believe anything fox says if its so bad why do 90% of brits approve of the nhs and if any politician tried to take it away there would be a revolution lol
ruthio1 7 months ago
@angels77100 and what does a miniority of scottish people eating fried choclate have anything to do with the nhs ur sooo thick i feel sorry for u and i ll tell u whats shocking america trying to tell everybody how to do things when they wont treat people in hospital if they dnt have money and have 90,000 homeless people in LA alone thats just sick and its impossible and ur pregnent woman comment is just foolish how could she be pregnent for 3 years how daft are u kid plz do some research owned
ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 Sir. Please could you use punctuation, full stops and comas in your typing. I don't really mind 'typos' misspellings etc, but when someone just types randomly, it's really difficult to comprehend. (Even for a smart person like me). Now back to your question. The result of savages like those in North England (Scotland) eating that garbage is the extra strain it places upon the NHS, who's resources are stretched to the max already by the weak fragile little British people.
angels77100 7 months ago
@angels77100 im not writing a paper who cares for punctuation on you tube u should be more concerned of claiming your smart and think woman are pregnent for 3 years u claim 120 millions brits go to america for treatment that we have no doctors and that britain has a president called tommy hahahaha shame and in what way are brits weak where i live everybody is a rugby player and would proberbly smash u and in america everybodies to fat to do anything and has to have a crane to lift them out lol
ruthio1 7 months ago
@angels77100 ohhh yea heres more evidence of ur idiocy scotland is not in northern enlgand u fool that statement is beyond belief in stupidity plz before u reply dnt just write words do some research gain knowledge on whateva it is u want to debate then comeback to me with a good argument on what we are talking about and not sidetrack ontop ohhh they eat fried mars bars in scotland slash northern england hahahaha such a mug
ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 Did I, or did I not warn you about the need to punctuate your sentences? If you're going to continue in this childish kindergarten fashion (that even a 1st grader is capable of performing) then I see little point in continuing this debate as it's too difficult to comprehend what your actually attempting to type.
angels77100 7 months ago
@angels77100 hahaha u know exactly uve made ur self into a fool by saying a load of rubbish that is all completely false and this is you tube and if ur only argument in punctuation then ive clearly won tell me how u can think a woman is pregnent for 3 yearsss hahahahaha and all of us brits went to america twice for treatment theres people who never leave london u absolute fooool hahaha and its easy to read there called words ohhhh wait there full stop ahhhh u dumbass
ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 Sorry, but your last comment was just mumbo jumbo. I understood that you laughed at the beginning, and ranted on about some pregnant woman or something about London UK. Sorry but you'll have to begin speaking American, I can't comprehend what you're trying to say.
angels77100 7 months ago
@angels77100 I'm English, i didn't understand you either. One is a retard (ruthio) while you are a foreigner (you foreigners should be using your own language by the way)
America's flawed "healthcare" system is third world. I wouldn't send my dog there. Only the crime rate is a bigger problem in America
British doctor Stan Brock provides healthcare aid to over 200,000 Americans every year. Yes he does a great job, however it will take hundreds of Stan Brocks to treat America's sick.
Ali74 7 months ago
@Ali74 Dude we speak American/English. The English, well I've honestly no idea what language they speak these days. Anyway, enough bickering about that. Back to your comment. Our Healthcare is the best in the world, as long as you've got insurance (which is a great way to motivate lazy people into getting jobs). No job, no money, no Health Insurance. The Americans who bash our system are those without insurance, they receive what is equivalent to Canada/UK's NHS. They are treated eventually.
angels77100 7 months ago
@Ali74 in what way ive got a guy saying woman are pregnent for 3 years and 120 miilions brits go to america for healthcare and that our PRESIDENT YEA PRSIDENT is a gut called TOMMY and i put him straight and im a retard ovo u havnt read wat ive wrote becasue everythin i put is true and i can bk it up with proof so explain urself
ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 lol thas funny pregnent for 3 years
kyky10ism 7 months ago
@angels77100 Hahahahaha,ok then heres punctuation ok. Americans speak english not american you fool, you think woman are pregnent for 3 years, can you understand it to here thicko. Your claim that 130 millions brits went to america that was a number you made up, now just accept that your facts are wrong and i ll stop making you look like a fool.
ruthio1 7 months ago
@ruthio1 I beg to differ sir. 1. I speak American/English. 2. Fox News reported that story about the British pregnant woman. 3. It could have been 120 million, if they all visited twice, and not 130 million. 4. Tommy Blair the UK president, is hated by most British people because of his cut's and slashes in the NHS sector.
Touchdown! -(Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy <------ sound of crowd going wild.)
angels77100 7 months ago
@angels77100 ok in the rest of the world its know as enlgish only in america isit american english hahaha and let me explain biology for u woman are only pregnent for 9 months my friend then even if she wanted to keep it the baby whould just pop out u fool yea and no TONY blair isnt even our prime minister so how could he cut anything he cant and our PRIME MINISTER isnt cutting NHS hes putting more money into i watch the debate over this yesterday
