Yes the sound of steam may fail but that doesn't run the engine. All it has is an electrolmechanical E-unit thats wired to the pullmor motor. All you have to do to maintain the engine is keep it oiled and replace the motor brushes every so often if you run it alot. Those pullmor motors run FOREVER, thats why I love them so much.

I don't think so. The primitive electronics in this locomotive are very prone to failure.

That train will outlast your modern MTH engines. But MTH is still nice though. More bang for your buck.
