I saw this movie when it first came out at my local theater and enjoyed i very much it's beauty and musical soundtrack. Recently a friend told me that character played by Tom Cruise was the Last Samurai because he lived. I thought that the last samurai was the head of the village who died in the arms of Tom Cruise.

If you like this then you should try sven samurai considered the best samurai film ever made and one of the best films ever made. It also comes under the title of Shichinin no samurai in some parts of the world a brilliant film.

Bushido-"the way of a warrior" it's some kind of philosophy, and rules in fight (you can hit your opponent with your sword only in head, stomach, hands and knees-but i'm not sure for 100%). Strange thing is-it was written long after samurai rebelion in XIX century.

You were right ,Bushido was called "The way of the warrior"and it was a japanesse code of conduct and a way of life ,similar with the concept of chivalry in Europe.For more details you can go to Google and look up on Wikipedia.There are interesting references to this code.
