@pokemariofan123 Steven steps down from his Champion title in Emerald and Juan, Wallace's teacher, becomes the gym leader in Sootopolis. Wallace then goes on to be the champion of Hoenn. however, you can still battle Steven in Emerald, despite the fact he's neither Champion nor Gym Leader. :)

@IzakiHaruza Okay just relax. It's just my oppinion that water pokemon are better. And isn't that just the message he leaves on the table for you to take beldum? I only like a few steel types: Skarmory, metagross and bronzong. That's about all I find usefull. Steven and wallace would both need some upgrades however in the event of a remake because with gen 4 and 5 out make of the pokemon they use are a bit obsolite. I don't have enough room to explain them here though.

@okjoek1 Aggron is much better than people give it credit for. Steelix as well. Scizor is great. It's mentioned why Steven left in the note for Beldum, in Meteor falls when you face him in Emerald, and in the Sootopolis Gym when you face Juan. Water types are good, yes, but you can butcher Wallace's entire team with a Ludicolo, Swift Swim+Giga Drain+Miracle Seed. With Steven, if you try to use steel weaknesses, fighting, fire, ground, his Claydol will butcher you. No one type can beat him alone.

I think both their teams are underpowered. With two generations extra at their disposal I think that a hoenn remake would be quite interesting.

Keep the original teams for their first run through of the game then give them much stronger ones.

@okjoek1 Steven's Aggron was never a problem for me. I always got earthquake in with my swampert first, 1-hit, so I don't know. But yeah, if it's a RSE remake, Steven should keep with Hoenn Pokemon. Not necessarily all steel though, since Metagross, Aggron, Skarmory, Mawile, Magneton, Jirachi, and Registeel are the only steel-type pokemon available in hoenn, minus the pre-evolutions of the mentioned pokemon. He wouldn't be given a legendary, so that leaves 5, not enough for a full team.

I was surprised with the lack of Kingdra, it would have been much better a choice than his Tentacruel. Plus, his team knew very few non-water moves, and most of the moves that were non-water were ice beam, or status moves. Not convenient enough at all.

Would like that in the remake of RSE, you would battle Juan at Sootopolis. And then arive at the Chapion room as Wallace and Steven are battling for the title. Then you could double battle them for the the title, with your rival. Great use of both, first Chapion double battle ever, and better use to your rival, that is actually underleveled compared to others.

If Ruby and Sapphire get remade I hope we get Steven as the Champion (With a rematch, obviously) and Wallace just being the Gym Leader of Sootopolis City.

Wallace did a good job as last Gym Leader, he was really a hard challange, but he was too weak as Champion.

He should instead get his rematch, maybe having a Burungel as last pokemon.

And Steven should just stay as he is, Hoenn's CHAMPION.

Oh and Juan, well, let's just make him another trainer to battle somewhere.
