This only appeared on A Hard Day's Night soundtrack LP (vinyl) released by United Artists records in 1964. That LP was re-issued by Capitol Records in the mid 80's, but when The Beatles catalog was standardized worldwide in 1987 and released on CD, the British version of the LP was issued and not the UA version.
@dbeatlefreak um. I had the vinyl 45RPM recording with Ringo's Theme on the flip which was also released by United Artists Records in 1964. I sold it on Amazon for a measily $8.95. I never knew it was so beautiful. I should have copied it on CD.
@lordgaga2009 Thanks for the info! I did not realize this had ever been released as a single. I just looked it up on Amazon, and there is one copy for sale for $35.00. Oh well, we live and learn!
@dbeatlefreak Just my luck. Guess I need to do more research before I list some of the 45s I have been selling to get an idea of worth before selling to cheaply. Live and learn, indeed.
@EasyAce: On that note, friend, it had to be the hand of Providence that prevented them from being accepted by the Decca producer.... he literally would have ended them after 2-3 years.
May have been off a couple years.........probably was 66 - 67. Hey, it was 40ish years ago. Was driving a 63 pontiac tempest then.......with good ole AM radio.
I never get tired listening to this song, specially this version. I have the LP version (red jacket) but my turntable went out a long time. I kept the record and will "digitize" it one of these days. Thank you for sharing this.
For those who were 16ish around 1963/64 and listened to WKYC, AM Cleveland, "Big Jack - your leader" always signed off his show at 1100 pm eastern with this song. My buds and I made sure we were always at the Dairy Queen with all our radios turned up reasonably loud to hear Big Jack sign off......the music and his comments were priceless.
@amalialovesicecream Indeed. He knew what they wanted and knew how to give it to them, and they knew he could deliver what they wanted--no matter how surreal--without a lot of bother or controversy. He was the perfect producer: he gave his artists their head, followed their lead, and led them where their imaginations wanted to go.
This was on a United Artists production of "A Hard Day's Night". My brother, a music nut, said it was available in Japan. We saw the Japanese CD in a great shop for $28.00. I thought it was too expensive. Boy was that a mistake. This music is as beautiful as it gets. It was a Paul McCartney composition that even George Martin thought highly of.
I too have been looking for this for quite a while. I remember this as the music Big Jack Armstrong used for his sign-off when he was at WKYC. I always thought it a bit strange that such a high-powered jock would use such a mellow piece of music as a sign-off, but it worked. I still remember it decades later.
I still have goosebumps after hearing this. I heard it for the first time 45 years ago in a party and that was a LP witch had each song of Beatles with their original performance and then with George Martin's performance. It was out of this world. For 45 years I have been looking for this performance. I bought CDs hoping to find this at no avail. Thanks for posting it.

Is this available on CD? The last time I heard this was on my vinyl copy of "A Hard Day's Night" years ago! I've always loved this version of "And I Love Her." Thank you for posting it.

This is a beautiful version but I'd like to hear "All Quiet On The Mercy Front", with a guitar solo full of Hank Marvin's style.

@Faramarzfara this is a ten. It has to be one of the most beautiful instrumentals in recent musical history. Great job!
