And it's a great game for this period of the year. It's playable with a regular Coleco controller or the Coleco roller controller set to joytick mode... which gives you a better arcade experience.
The music playing in this clip, except during the title screen was of course added for this clip; it's a midi file playing a classic music called Night on the Bare Mountain composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky.
You can judge it by yourself by checking the "more info section"... there is a link to the ROM file.
AtariAge is currently making a special batch of this game to be release before the end of the year. If you want a cartridge of this game, visit their web site during November or December 2008.
I can't port the game for an Atari system. but I'm sure there are talented programmers who can make their own version for their favorite game system, even for PSP or DS.
If you want to purchase a Colecovision game system, you can. There are some web sites like Atari2600 and eColeco where it seems they have a lot of ColecoVision related stuff for sale, even some clones. Also, if you find a broken ColecoVision, eColeco may be able to repair it.
After many requests, I'm happy to say that new Jeepers Creepers cartridges will be available, but published by AtariAge this time. Remember that I'm not a company, this is fan made, and sometimes I can run out of resources, specially plastic shells.
That is just awesome!! Props to you man! If there is any new idea comming up for a new cartridge, please let me know, or post a bulletin on youtube. Thanks again
Jeepers Creepers was one of my big projects and I hope it's not the last one for the ColecoVision game system. If I compare the final version with the first demo I called "Happy Halloween", this game project got a huge improvement during time and that's why I'm convince that rushing a video game development is not good at all.
It's very easy to start a new game project, but the problem is to finish it before starting another one. Jeepers Creepers took 6 years because of that and too busy jobs.
Thats Incredible! Wells thats great that you were able to make a successful game for the colecovision. I know that you will make great games to come in later years :D
To be honest, I'm already happy with all the games I already did. I also had a down period which convince me to take a break.
I don't feel the necessity to make some more, because I have nothing to prove. However, this passion is so deep inside me, so, soon or later, I will come up again with a new game for this system.
I was feeling a little sentimental I suppose and searched for videos of the Smurfs game and this was linked to it. I gotta say that back in the day this would've been a stand out game for the system and I definitely would've made my parents buy it for me. :) Nice work.
Hi-Tech C compiler, I'm using the free version for CP/M (kind of DOS from the past), and it's included in the starter kit. To run it, I'm using 22NICE to emulate CP/M under DOS, and it works under all Windows except Vista.
I'm using my own graphic and sound tools, most of them are in the starter kit. I'm coding in C language (based on Hi-Tech C specification) with a little bit of assembler to make some parts faster and/or smaller.
I don't have the knowledge to port the game for the TI99/4a. But, in theory, because ColecoVision uses the Texas Instrument TMS9928 video chip and only 1K of RAM, this game can be virtually ported to many computers an game systems from the 80s, including Sega SG-1000, MSX-1, and TI99/4a.
Yes, it's a shooter with the twist of horror atmosphear. The horror atmosphear video games exploded in popularity when I started this project. So, I said to myself : "why not doing an horror atmosphear video game for the ColecoVision?" And that's what I did here.
I invite everybody to try the game. Just click on the "more info" link to find more details about this game and a link to a rom file you can play with an emulator... and I strongly suggest to use bluemsx emulator in coleco mode.

@fcycles J'ai remarqué que de septembre à la fin novembre c'est le temps de l'année où les gens sont plus intéressés aux jeux et films d'horreur.

Is that music being played during the actual game play coming from the the game or is it just dubbed in the background from a MP3 file or CD?

Any chance of porting this game to other machines that use the TMS9918A graphics chip? More specifically, an old TI?
