This is the most enchanting Kahiko I have seen. The blue and white in the costumes and the feathers sometimes reminds me of water, sometimes of monlight and sometimes of birds in flight. The choreography was gracious and a refreshing change from what one usually expects from Kahiko. I'm adding this to my favorites.

This is so beautiful yet so poignant, sad even. I am thinking of the love and hope the Princess and indeed the nation of Hawai`i had for Ka`iolani and how tragaic was her passing at such a toung age. This hula honors her in a most lovely and gentle way.

why didnt this win first place? the dancing was amazing, and that was was the most beautiful oli I have ever heard and ipu heke transition at 5:58 was great. And the use of the uli'uli!!! Awesome! I love Kahiko!

I guess it's about what the judges see. I was in a competition over 10 years ago and we lost first place by two points because a part of someone's costume was hanging off. What we see as perfection can be "near perfection" to others. I heard one year the winner won only by one point. Unless we see the score cards, we can never know what the judges were thinking.
