They were the greatest pop singers of English music from a non English speaking country I just love all their songs They are even better than the Beatles !! THE MUSIC OF ABBA WILL LIVE FOREVER !!!
@Pianda ABBA did perform live in concerts, but everything 'live' that has been released on CD / DVD and even this radio show would have had some work done to it in the studio, remixing and overdubbing etc. The 1979 live material seems to be the most real live experience. ABBA the movie is so heavilly overdubbed it cannot really be called live anymore and the 1981 stuff was also remixed and overdubbed a fair bit. Look for fan made / bootleg recordings of the 1979 concerts. Real live ABBA!
@discogareth Thank you very much for your answer full with interesting information!!! This was also a good occasion to listen to this wonderful stuff again! Just for us both: I always felt that ABBA's success was also a function of voice-optimizing in the studio; Agnethas voice is different (weaker), when she obviously sang total live OR as she did in her own music after the ABBA-termination...
@Pianda ...but anyway: I and milllions of others grew up with this kind of sound (whatever altered sound) and the spirit of this group and music - and so this is the "real historical sound" of this group that is part of our life - and concretely: some of the best :-))
@Pianda I totally agree. Whatever the finished sound was, live or not. It is the sound of ABBA that we enjoy and love. I personally prefer all the studio recordings. The vocals being just another piece of the larger jigsaw. I am not keen of ABBA live, even ABBA were not keen on themselves live. Their natural home was the studio, creating new sounds and new music.
