There is no Monkey Island 5. It is the 5th one to come out, but the real 5th one has yet to be make. If you read on the Tales on Monkey island site, you will realize that the game takes off from the 5th one leaving room for Lucas Arts to make the 5th one. :P

I don't recall having stated that anyone should base their purchases on anything I say. People should base their purchases on their own research of the game via all means available, such as screenshots, trailers, press materials, gameplay footage, etc. No purchase should ever be 100% decided by what one single stranger's opinion happens to be.

Oh I agree. But my point is, if we're not to take a stranger's opinion into account, then it sugguests we can't take your opinion into account to not take other people's opinion into account. Obviously, the reality of the situation is that there are reasonable opinions and unreasonable ones, and Gamespot people are basically just pushers, so be wary, but it was really more of a self-reference logic problem that i was making a jab at.

They wont go back to Monkey Island 3, I think if they are to scrap the 3D which i reckon they will, they will go with the whole 2.5D thing that Zelda and street fighter 4 have done. Which personally i think will work a treat if the story is as good as the first 3 MI's. I thot MI 4 was good up until you got back to the island. Went Kinda downhill from there.

I really dont see why they dont go back to 2D, I know its a cliche that adventure gamers have been saying for the past 6 or 7 years but i think it is obvious that 3d does not sell more,

if you look up broken sword 2.5 you will see some really good animation that has been made by german fans

I think if they actually do make Monkey Island 5 in 2015, it should be a point and click adventure, just like the first three games. It could have top-notch graphics, yes, but in 2.5-D style, with areas that just pan left and right, just like the classic games. Capcom did it with Street Fighter IV, so why shouldn't Lucasarts be able to do the same with MI?

Not in this beta. The purpose of this beta is to show the engine and some features; therefor, it doesn't contain a solid story nor puzzles.

Anyways, in short time we are going to release a new beta with more new features and new gameplay with interesting puzzles.

Why don't you use Adventure Game Studio instead of Game Maker? So many gooood fan-made games can't be wrong?

How far is this game from being complete?

The game is still on an early stage, and considering that we are only 2 people working on it, we don't have a release date soon.

Still, we are considering releasing every chapter alone.

Right now, we are working on details, fixing bugs, reading feedback from the people, improving the gameplay and a lot of stuff. We probably realease a second beta with new gameplay and a improved version of the engine.

But the complete game is more complicated; we need to create the whole story, the maps, the gameplay and puzzles, but we can do all that ourselves.

The real problem is with backgrounds and sprites, we don't have many skills for that and we are really needing someone to help us with that (Credits will be given, of course)

Tried it now, feels pretty good but a bit rough around the edges,in the real Monkey games for example,use door works too instead of exclusively open door. Also, the conversations are not as advanced as the real monkey games. (not that that would be possible anyway) When you select a Dialogue option, the inventory flashes through.

Good job so far overall, maybe include voices?

Game seems to short only visits to two islands? wtf, MI 2 had Scabb,Phatt,Booty and Dinky, oh and Lechuck's evil seafortress. MI4 just seems too simple, but i like it nevertheless,it has the best character designs, they'd look awesome in MI3 2D.

got the game its really good enjoyed it but the house with the helper needs more background detail and same for the pirate lair but the game is really good few spelling mistakes but i know its only a preview cant wait to see a longer version keep me posted its really good also you could widen the main area so you can go in the prison and see largo or someone from the past. lastly no noises when you open doors etc dunno if its hard to do im rubbish at this sort of this overall really good thanks.
