I think those games was "prototypes", games with advanced graphics and technology, like Kameo (also canceled) and others games, and they had problems with the Gamecube hardware. I think. Wonderful games have been canceled for this console.

@joessmax No, firstly this is not a Nintendo game. It was part of the 'Capcom Five' that were meant to be exclusive to Gamecube but apart from PN03 were all ported to PS2, or in the case of this Dead Phoenix game, cancelled. A prototype does not mean advanced, it refers to an early stage of production. Dead Phoenix was announced well after Gamecube was launched, it was no tech-demo. These 'wonderful' games were cancelled due to inexpediency. And Kameo WAS released, for Microsoft.

@joessmax Because in I think September, of 2002, Microsoft purchased Rare from Nintendo and therefore games like Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo were shifted from Gamecube to Xbox, and as it turned out, Xbox 360.

Regarding problems with hardware, firstly there were few problems with the Cube, it was a perfectly competent machine to say the least. Games are cancelled due to expense or due to problems on the software side, otherwise the project would never have been started.

I bought Geist 1 month ago on Internet, there are a level where you can test a "ghost" that you use, that level seems more a technology test that part of the game, is quite bizarre.

I think Capcom did announce that Dead Phoenix got canceled. They had to do some explanation to Nintendo on why they didn't hold up their end of the Capcom 5 exclusive titles.

I think this was actually supposed to be an unofficial sequel to Legendary Wings - this would make more sense for Capcom since Kid Icarus is a Nintendo license, creating issues if they wanted to port the game to other systems. Creating a Legendary Wings sequel would give them the opening to release the game cross-platform if that appeared to be marketable.

It was never cancelled, just disappeared. IGN called it "Missing in action". And a recent IGN interview with one of the creators of this game (some japanese guy), he hinted that he has been secretly working on this project for years. google "Dead phoenix kid icarus ign"

I'm sorry but I don't have much faith in Capcom anymore and I'm not sure how they will support the Wii in the future. If Dead Phoenix came out on the Wii in the future it would be something that I'm sure a lot of present Gamecube users would be happy out. The code is out there somewhere in Capcoms big dusty vault.
