"Men have become the tools of their tools." To paraphrase Thomas Merton (Trappist Monk) wrote:"Men are like crows. They gather anything shiny and fill their nests with useless things." Thoreau, like Merton, was a prophet. We have forgotten, simplicity is genius.
transcendental... to its core. if the computer was around- this is for sure how they wouldve swayed their audience. now -if u felt moved- go do something radical. ;)
Very nice video - a fitting tribute to a very unique and inspiring man. Everyone should read at least one book by Thoreau, quite possibly the world would be a far better place. Thanks much for producing this great work! (David Hance, Founder, Quotivate)
Many times a cry alone after exposing to the greed of capitalism for the last ten years, I found peace in this one of the most original American classics.
Well said BCK70! I have always loved Thoreau's beautiful and non-violent philosophical writings. Plain living and high thinking is how I try to follow in his footsteps. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.
I think if one were to offer me abundant love and money, I would labor to find my own truths, fame is for fools, which only a foolish man would deny at least partially being.
Once upon a time rugged individualism equaled freedom, more and more as land disappears it takes money, walden pond has become living under a bridge, I honestly belive the U.S. will resemble Japan in a hundred years, big yellow taxi ; )
but what would you want to be rewarded for seeking out your own truth? isn't that a reward initself? or did i get you wrong? 'offer me abundant love and money' is just a manner of speaking?
All I'm saying is, just like in the lab experiments with mice, as quantity (population) increases, quality of life decreases, especially beginning to notice that here in the states... since baby boomers have the population booming, just imagine two generations from now, then six..Hitler, the poison pill
Thank you very much, this was a joy to watch.
