I use a Hotplate @ -4db just to get a bit of tightness back in, it is the head version, using a recto 2x12 cab. The Mark III can sound great at low volumes it has a killer master volume. Can get below TV listening volume, to blow your freaking head off loud. Sounds best loud, but still sounds awesome quiet, my recordings are with the amp at just a hair louder than TV volume.

Tanks for the comment, but that Peavey back there is an old brass faced Triumph 60, and it is a beast, don't let the Peavey name fool ya. Got the Mesa as an addition, not a replacement.

Actually dude that gains mass respect - Triumphs were the best amp that Peavey made and it's probably the best, least known deal on the market nowadays - congrats on having one!! For the record I own a Mesa F50, Dual Rec, Marshall TSL 60 and in the past have had JCM 900, a 2550, and even a 1970s JMP.

you don't need to hear him... if you don't plan on using a tremolo, the explorer is the best guitar you can get for straight to the bone metal, and that mesa sounds tight, so i wouldn't even think about it =P

well, guitars with wild shape such as this one needs a little getting used to... but no, it's not that bad... just place the part in front of the speed knobs kinda diagonally right where your right leg joins with the hip and you should get used to it in no time =D But the sustain the explorer has is worth any getting used to :D
