  • I have a desire to be a superman :D

  • "The desire for the existence for God and purpose shows us that there must be a God."

this is same kind of circular argument that descartes made in meditations claiming god to be an innate idea. basically it claims that man has allways had the idea of god and therefore there is a god. this is like saying that faith is evidence. millions of children has faith in or like you put it the desire of existence of santa claus yet he is and keeps on being non-existent.

  • And the second thing: "the existance without a God seems shallow etc." well, I think that God only STANDS for his commandments and without THE EXISTING GOD those commandments still should be obeyd. If not.. than GOD is just a check without approval. He stands for things that don't even exist without him sitting there in haeven... which is crap ;) So whether he IS or he IS NOT you should believe in commandments which are not shallow.

  • I desire to be SUPERMAN, but it is not possible for a human to be superman! So... desire for there to be a God does not have to be fulfilled, because there are lots of "impossible" desires.

  • Couldn't a desire for God be just as fulfilled by maybe becoming Buddhist? Or whatever else...?? Maybe it's just a desire to not be lonely, and as long as there's this God that is omniscient, your loneliness is dimished a bit?

I dunno. Knowledge/awareness increases/strengthens desire, i believe... the closer I draw myself to God, the more time i spend in His Word, the more I desire to seek after Him...

  • I'm fishing for atheist fishes in the TAA lake.

  • Try spending more time exposing peadophile priests, theres probably more of them.

  • I have a desire for time travel. Infertile couples have a desire for kids. Some have desire to kill others.

Desires stem from the imagination. Whatever can be imagined can be desired. Only a subset of what can be imagined is real.

I am living without the desire for god, and I daily find many ways to make my life purposeful, meaningful and rich. Perhaps those also require imagination, but, every night, I fall asleep happy.

  • I share the same outlook, as far as life outside of a God, it's a pretty scary idea when you think about it. Never thought about the whole "desires and fulfillment" bit before that was an interesting thought.
