I think Volvo are excelent at their end of the market; quarrys, large road projects and are top of the market for articulated dumptrucks, good for that end of the market, nowhere near the scale of a p&h, but still good in their class! Should try reading Earthmovers magazine and check out old pond publising website for Massive earthmovers dvds, some of the footage will blow your mind! I got them all!
It is a PC8000. This was be the biggest excavator in backhoe-configuration, until Liebherr launched the R9800. Notice that this machine has the cab on the right side. The PC5500 has the cab on the left side.
It is powered by 2 electric motors, each putting out 1450 kW.
They usually load Hitachi EH5000 trucks with this excavator.
I searched it and indeed this is a komatsu, but no the classic famous yellow pc8000 but the early pc8000-6 model. Furthermore, this one on the video is the Diesel drive version with 2 x Komatsu SDA16V160 which have 16 cylinders and 1500kw each and not the Electric version you mention.
haha that komatsu trucks are average, you check on your facts about truck availability compared to those trucks you just mentioned and will see Komatsu shit on all those brands you just stated for availability. They have the most experience in electric drive trucks then anybody in the industry. The cat 797 has %50 availability compared to komatsus %83. What company budgets for that rubbish. None my friend.
Komatsu trucks are average. Volvo & Euclid/Hitachi make the best trucks, Hitachi make the best excavators, and Caterpillar make the best dozers. Case closed.
You compare by price, experience, fuel consumption or just dreaming nice during night? First of all if you compare Volvo trucks with this kind of dump trucks you will see it is like comparing a chicken with a dog or MACDONALDS with fancy italian restaurant....no class comparison. If we speak about excavators please bring more arguments my friend because children are also visiting youtube and they might believe you:))))
The cold weather in winter here seems to cause them a great deal of reliability issues. Also the dynamic braking on the DC drive trucks leaves something to be desired. The AC drive trucks are better... But I would say that CAT trucks give the driver much more confidence, safety wise.

Komatsu might say they have 83% but I've never actually seen one come anywhere near that.

Is he loading a Liebherr truck? I hear they are nice to drive.
VonVoltage 3 years ago

I don't know... I drive a Komatsu 830 at work and they certainly are not perfect.
VonVoltage 3 years ago
you have technical problems with the dump truck or the service support is not so good?
