JR sports,, im a boston fan,, i feel ortiz is past his prime!! although he has come alive,, i think hel end up with some decent numbers.... I think hel end up with 25 hrs, and maybe 80 -90 rbis,, which are great numbers for 90 % of MLB. Although IF we, (redsox) make the post season, i feel he will be there ready to go, as long as his ass aint injured again.. Hopefully John smoltz ends up bein a beast, and will add to our already good pitching rotation/ bullpen..Ny and bos, in october again!

Look, I understand people saying he might have been on steroids but, it's just a theory. Anyone could have or could not have been on steroids. Ortiz was a finely-tuned hitting machine that started to crap out in August 06...he found a way to compensate for and work through those early injuries, but as the wear piled on he just couldn't do it anymore. I think he's straight physically now, but he came into the season having forgotten his natural swing from three years ago, and let the early failures play mind games on him. Perhaps the homer last night will help him settle down and recapture his big swing. Physically I think he's fine.

you gotta consider steriods in this debate... he has really diminished these past two years, 'coincidentally' now that the MLB is really cracking down on steriods... Maybe he was on steriods during all 2003-2007 or so, and now he's off, and it's showing. I'm not saying that's what I believe neccesairly. Only, with baseball how it is today, you gotta atleast consider that.

I can't remember there batting order at the time but not having Manny there has hurt him in terms of the way he sees pitches...IMO or maybe it's a physical or mental thing I'm not sure but I do know as you, his production has decreased.
