I won't try to counterdict your admiration for Bartoli (she is a very good singer), though I would like to note that there are many singers in the same league who are more than worthy of the Italian mezzo fame. Larmore, Lemieux, Prina are good examples, if we take voices from the lower regions of the voice :)! Thank you for your comment :)!
I must admit I agree with you about Cecilia Bartoli ( I would also mention Martine Dupuy in the list you mention...) although I had a great admiration for this singer in her "early days". However, this is not the point: thanks a lot for posting this rare and beautiful recording! The voice might not be always what you would expect (or like?) but there is a lot of emotion in this interpretation.
I find her voice too "woofy" like artificially darkened and covered.

I belive that Cecilia Bartolis voice may be the best fem. voice today and in moment.
