For one you need to apply more volume with your voice to make it sound better, now it's a bit too compressed. I know it's hard to be able to hear it your self. But try grabbing a short sample of Hayter doing it, then mimic your own sample, listen and compare them, it might help you notice the differeces. As I said, you try to compress your voice too much, increase your exhaling bit by bit. Also I don't know how gravelly your voice is normally, but it sounded a bit like over forcing it..
