@Shadic159 Easiest is kind of subjective. It's not Rush's hardest for sure I agree with that. I usually say to people to try Here Again off of the first album if they want an easy Rush song, but that's because I found that one easy myself to start. Everyone is different. Limelight has that transition from 4/4 to 3/4 that can make it tough to figure out.
I think this is the best cover I have heard of this song. You actually get all of those little in-between notes in the main riff that everyone misses. Cudos!
Hats off to you - great cover! To anyone that owns a Rick bass - hold onto it unless you're forced to sell. To those of you who want to own one - invest in one. You will be glad you did and probably cherish is for the rest of your life.
Yes, the waiting period is almost 2 years.. Be patient - it's worth the wait. In the meanwhile, their prices increase while your original sales price won't.
@astrosjake don't dream. make it happen. i'm buying a rick soon. got $1000 saved up already. i got tired of staring at pictures and watching videos. so i said screw it, i'm done saying maybe some day
hey man a bit of a question regarding rickenbackers. i've heard from a few people that rickenbacker have neck problems mostly i regaurding the fact that they have dual trussrods. i've played a rickenbacker before and it felt and sounded AMAZING and saving up for one but numerous sales attendants told me not to get one because of what i just discussed. if you can reply to me with some info about how your ricky is holding up and that i will be very greatful
@belial1237 I haven't had any trouble with the neck. I use the same strings always though. I think people have more trouble when they play around with different gauges and need to adjust the truss rods. I use Rotosound Swing Bass RS66 LD strings and the neck has been stable.
@belial1237 i had a ric for a while i rarely had to adjust the neck, even Geddy Lee's bass tech said that when Ged took the ric out for the snakes & arrows tour he only had to adjust that neck once or twice for the entire tour. the only time you would have worry is if you left that bass in a 40 degree garage out of its case while you weren't playing it. they're wonderful basses, get one
I think yours is the closest to note perfect on youtube. You've noticed some of the minutia of the line that many others haven't picked up on. The solo section in particular. I fine rendition indeed.
that looks like the same bass geddy lee used in the albums during the progressive rock era and the synthesizer period of the bands career, although that was the Rickenbacker 4001.
haven't heard a rick in a while...nice!! remember geddy's sound from the old days. now I think he uses a jazz mostly. by the way, his geddy lee signature fender jazz bass kicks ass! Thanks dude
Did you learn this song by ear are do you have the tabs? If you have the tabs the way you played it Could you email them to me? I would like to learn this song but i can't find any good tabs for it. Thanks alot if you can help me.The Trooper
Nice playing, but why do you always use your bridge pickup? Use the neck pup once in a while, you get more ricky tone instead of alota mud that you get. But, your playing is pretty good overall.
I don't use effects much and use a little combo amp so I end up cutting out some of the highest end to avoid all of the finger noise. It doesn't sound good clean to me. I love the sound of a rick through a great amp or through great direct boxes though. Then the highest highs are magic.
man ive been watching your videos and i must say your really good but i mean you have a ricky utalize it get rid of that real bass sound for rush and up your highs all the way, mids to about 7 and bass to about 6 or 5 and then youll be good but otherwise ...magnificent
Great playing, but the "ad lib" mentioned previously is really a bit much. A good place to find inspiration is the Rush Tablature Project on internet, all songs very well tabbed. Hope to have a rick someday, thanks for the video (very good to see people caring about playing rush!!)
this is my next bass! i dont mind the price but these days they arent easy to find!!! very irritating. im happy with my Jazz and P until i get my hands on a 4003 though

@ReneeNme for playing rush, more treble would be better. but my personal preference in bass tone is not the super bright and trebly stuff. i like this tone that hes got.
I use my little finger more in some other songs but you are right I don't use it as much as some people. Check on Beneath, Between and Behind for example here: v=vo1UjK2BcqU
I've been playing bass/guitar/drums for over 27 years. Geddy is one of my favorite musicians and I enjoy playing many of the older tunes note for note.
