@Emceetem Holding a pick to hit strings and holding a drum stick to hit drums is extremely different, I dont think you can understand the pain of keeping drum sticks in your hand while playing fast when you're comparison is a tiny guitar pick, the effort it takes, even though its not huge, is still a lot bigger on the drum side.

Is it just me or is James LaBrie the quintessential studio singer? He is SO much better in the studio than live... Every note and phrase is carefully weighted, the proper emotion put in, great diversity between clean and gritty timbre... He doesn't seem to be able to put it all together live, whereas in the studio he doesn't have to do more than one line at a time. God, he sounds good here

@wassuppaska id have to agree with you there, i was watching him recording parts of Forsaken, that bit where it goes "to the end of the earth", that whole section he sounded so in control, not overtly nasally which he is guilty of live nowadays, its just a pleasant timbre and it makes me wonder why he just can't reproduce the same sound live

@wassuppaska He was pretty mind-blowing when I saw him in Finland in September 2009. But I can tell you from my experiences in singing lessons that the voice is a very tricky instrument and when you have to sing with the same diversity as James Labrie (whereas many singers sing in a smaller range both in terms of pitch and tone) it's tough to get everything perfect, especially since there's a lot more exhaustion involved in singing live than singing in a studio.
