@lucasthematador2801 no, on the white bass he has the same he had on the blue one (it's the same, painted); only he uses spb1 custom, which are different from both spb 1 and 3, so we'll never have his exact pickups, we must choose - just think that on the steve harris signature 2001 we had spb3, on the 2009 reissue we have spb1; even fender doesn't know exactly :)

@hectorpzharris I think spb1, because spb3 have by default a very biting high click, so it would be too much for you. spb1 are vintage, round and low, if you play hard on it th sound should match steve's - anyway I suggest you ask to try them before buying.

@DamienLeeBurton it depends: if you play like steve, same fingerstyle very hard on the strings you can go for spb1 and match his vintage sound from the first records; if you want something more naughty and modern and you don't want to struggle hitting the strings like a madman go for spb3, it's more similar to the sound you hear on final frontier.

Very good. Bass with slappy sound even by fingerstyle. I think you like new fresh strings with metaliic clanging and low strings position under frets on basses. When I was played that cover - another sound - very attacking funky was - vas funny to hear after. Your tone is better.

I'm often experimenting with PC-soft bass sound processing. But think I never can get a Steve Harris bass tone on Yamaha (or on very growly sounding Peavey) (And did not tryed to do it, cause can't belive that it possible).

@PaVliiQ mhmm, I guess you would be surprised of the results! maybe it won't be exactly the same, but I think that every bass can sound similar to steve's, because it's not the bass, it's the playing style that makes it so unique! take me for example, I'm reharsing now with an ibanez and it sounds absolutely the same as this one :D

Maybe. I think style of playing is really a preffered factor of sound. But here is some nuances: P-bass has no pickup at all at the brige. But this pickup gives a very differrent twang'y sound. (In case of my Yamaha BB - it is really that is). Many jazzists-funk-ists was playing only on bridge pickup to make a "style". So any style playing habit is generated from favourite instrument construction also.I think it's only a coincidences that Ibanez sounds like P-bass. J-bass is differ

Yes, it's really that (at last I have hit upon this thing) Steve's Tone can be done on most of basses. But not other way (round): so Steve Harris P-bass is not compatible to bridge (Pastorius) style.
