Surely, ultimately, this was going to result in a fall in productivity or even the company simply going out of business and a resulting fall in the share price? Or was this all tied to ideas like outsourcing abroad and automation?

@Freshhhhh1982 Suppose, retribution still doesn't help anybody retrospectively (though by its meaning it can't be helped). I think Curtis is really saying that old elites vs new elites will always try to use the argument that freedom of competition would let a new elite "win", even if an old elite is twice as "competetive", and how the new elite argue some form of socialism has taken hold - which is bullshit on both counts. Competition leads to entrenched capital and socialism isn't that either.

@pastrychef1985 Yeah wouldnt help my situation if I was one of the millions out of work, but it would give me a nice warm feeling. The message I got was that markets need to be very tightly controled because they are run by sociopaths.
