imade mine like this: i cut out 2 sheets of cardbord rong shape though i put the dowel or garden cane between them and then taped them with the dowel in in them andi left space outside the bottem and made a hilt taped it to the dowel and taped the remaning dowel and then taped it blu and the blade was duck tape and then masked and painted

@luigi112344 couple of centimetres? thick enough to fit through the sword and keep it ridgid, but thin enough so that it dosen't cause a bulge in the sword.

@Skater4life6780 Haha, well two of them are the plastic caps found on washing machine liquid bottles, and the bottom right one is part of an egg box. You could use either or find something similar that's suitable.

You know instead of stuffing gapes with tap you could by that stuff thats like foam in a can and fill that gaps with that its lightweight and inexpensive and easier than tape (i made a volcano with this stuff and its durable and awesome) and it fun to use LOL

I made one!, well not completely, I still need to paint it, but it is looking pretty cool!, note: do not just make one for your kids, it will come up bent and broken in less than a minute, mine is just for show. (if your kid wants a master sword just get them a cheap blue Nerf sword; they both look about the same.)

Sorry i could well be an idiot but i was a little confused on what you used for the counterweight. Near the end you said egg box part or bottle cap...do you mean just cutting one of the egg cups off the box and taping/gluing it on there?

Its not really a weight, just part of the the design. And yes, you could do it that way.

I'm not sure, I personally dont think it would be strong enough, but it is just for display purposes, then yes that could work. Your local SuperMarket might have cardboard. At my store they have large metal cages with lots of cardboard they dont need. Try to find one of them or ask an assistant if they have any card spare. Thankyou for commenting and the praise! :)

Well, it's working very well so far, I'm impressed! That paint is drying right now, gotta put on a second coat then draw on the tri-force and we're good to go! I'll take a video of it at the convention and upload so you can see how it turned out! =) I REALLY like the idea for the thin cardboard as the ridges, that's brilliant! Thank you so much! If not for this vid, I would be a Link without a sword. lol

I'm so glad that its turning out well for you. I had to do the blade twice actually, since the first time it was too short. Also, i had put masking tape on it, and then sprayed it. Wasn't too good. Anyway, I look forward to that vid, will it be a video response to this one?

If you want to do that that is fine, but i decided to use a thicker card for mine, since the master sword does not have one of those. It is a flat, double edged sword. Also, using a thicker shick and thinner card will give that effect.
