I would say this about Custer movies.
I wish they could find an actor who looked like the man. Son of the Morning Star had great footage but Gary Cole? Please!

Custer is the universal American legend, every generation and every decade literally portrays him and his story according to their own view of the American dream. Also, the Western Expansion as background for the historical realities of their time is also refelcted in their own different views. From Early Heroic to Critical Historical Revitionism, yopu can get every possible version in each of the 10 (I think) big screen or TV movies/miniseries done on him.
