Without religion, the differences would not have existed and it would have been one country. the Presbyterians were not persecuted like the Catholics were in Ireland. Hamaz, a muslim terrorist organisation, also stated that their hate against Israel had little to do with religion, but with occupation. The reason Northern Ireland is seperate is because an aggressive campaign of colonisation happened where Protestant Scots were sent to take over N.Ireland in large numbers. EVERTHING wrong with Ireland is down to religion. Read up about it.

It was about one group of people who wanted to be Irish and one group of people who wanted to be British. Many Catholics joined the British Army, police etc and some protestants were members of the IRA. During the 19thC Presbyterians were also targeted by the same discriminatory laws as Catholics. If everyone in Northern Ireland was atheist there would have still been violence.

Without religion, the differences would not have existed and it would have been one country. the Presbyterians were not persecuted like the Catholics were in Ireland. The Catholics were banned from ownership of guns (normla to have back then), land etc and in many cases could not hold office or high position as well as being banned from rpacticing their religion.

FOr example, even thought the IRA was religious, their objective didnt have much to do with them having the correct religion, it was in most sense a political issue. Hamaz, a muslim terrorist organisation, also stated that their hate against Israel had little to do with religion, but with occupation. Even Taliban has stated that the biggest hate towards the west comes from interfearence.

Over a long time it would be obvious that the fight could not be worth the price of the effort. So they had to add an element to prolong the war, hence religion.

The answer to this question immediately indicated whether one was protestant of catholic as all schools were either one or the other. Jobs and social housing were made available along sectarian lines. It's nonsense to say that religion had nothing to do with the conflict and the divisions.
