What a remarkable voice! And musicality and sensitivity... The conductor should be sent to chop wood somewhere else - I agree. Still amazing to see how Giaiotti still carries on regardless.
One of the greatest basses of all time! Bravo to Maestro Giaiotti for giving a great performance despite the horrible conductor stepping on his toes from start to finish. This conductor should be taken out back and beaten!
I keep wonderful souvenirs from Signor Giaiottis performances in Berne and Zurich, where, at both operas, I had the honour to work with him. He is most generous in his art and in his private life.
Ciao, mi permetto una precisazione... Giaiotti in realtà il Grande Inquisitore l'ha fatto una volta sola e poi mai più... Lo so perchè qualche mese fa gliel'ho chiesto di persona. Saluti
The conductor looks like Carlo Franci. Sang many operas under his baton in St. Gallen. He was always known for his brisky tempi. Studied and coached with Giaiotti at the IOC in Zürich (1979/80). Found him to be a wonderful human being and a magnificent bass.
There is only ONE Maestro Bonaldo Giaiotti.

what an inconsiderate orchestra and conductor. No interest at all in mr Gaiotti frasing. Bad violin section in the entry music to this aria. Yak!!!

Interessante sentire Filippo cantato da Giaiotti; so che proprio il Gran Inquisitore è stato uno dei suoi cavalli di battaglia.

He makes musical mistakes. The conductor is rushing in "Dormiro sol..." A tempo doesn't mean rush.

Good, but just this light wobble makes the sound a bit strange. Too Bad.
