@Boschman0 This is laughable. It's called SUBTLE humor, like real life you know? The US is too "in your face" humor which actually takes a lot a way from the show. And no, I'm not just being biased as I'm from the UK, most people agree.
In England talent and great acting makes the show not the producers, I mean that in a figurative sense just in case you don't understand. I know in America you prefer style over substance but the opposite it true in the UK .
@Boschman0 Firstly it's 'too much' and secondly the US version of The Office is just a dumbed down version of the original, proper version. The mumbling, not that I'd noticed, adds to the realism and documentary style as opposed to the heavily scripted and rather base american copy.
Thats what I love about the British version, this guy is just a once off and doesnt show up every week til hes gone so unfunny hes just annoying to watch.
Big bang Theory is not funny? Only an American Studio Executive could have posted that! @TheAwokenMind Yo, its not sad that you know this because this series is the best in T.V. history as far as I and many others are concerened. But do you really think you should tell people the ending? Shouldn't they have the chance to watch such a great series and really get into it? Just saying....
@Scrumdidilyumpchious I've seen both versions of the office and I think they're both very good in their own way. The British version can get away with a lot more than the US version because it doesn't have to contend with so much censorship.
@kilox10001 there's a huge fanbase for British comedy in the States . Some you may like, some you may not . Same with yours. My Name Is Earl is great, whereas The Big Bang Theory is not. Most Americans do like a bit of Blackadder, because it is witty & insanely stupid at the same time . search for "Dont kick the kitty", as Blackadder boots the cat across the kitchen, before explaining life's pecking order to brainless Baldrick. There were 4 seasons of Blackadder. Enjoy !
american office doesnt have a laughter track? i dont think you've ever seen it... its a very clever show.. but you can keep slobbering down on the british sense of humor (i like both)... you can get the fuck out of the USA with your "dismal" attempt to be a critic
The Office is a British show created by British writers. It is so universally hilarious that they managed to market a version for many other countries including the United States (this is the version I cannot stand). America is responsible for some great comedy (Arrested Development and early Simpsons) England is responsible for some great comedy (The Office, Fawlty Towers). By the way, is that Garth Marenghi?
ever watch Seinfeld?? didnt think so throw in a little everybody loves raymond if you're feeling up for it... Arrested Development? where's your sense of taste
@Scrumdidilyumpchious So, you've probably been told this, but just to be sure, you should know Ricky Gervais is an executive producer and co-writer of the US version of The Office, so to call the US version a "dismal attempt...predictable [and] unintelligent" is kind of insulting to Gervais' comedic talent...
Plus, the US version is hilarious, just as the UK version is. Just in different ways.
@NickMaggi1990 I'm glad someone agrees! And thank you for pointing out that the American Office doesn't have a laughter track. Steve Carrell's is amazingly talented, just as Gervais is.
We'll fix our teeth when you stop supersizing your ever-expanding waistlines, and when you dumb-fucks finally understand sarcasm :)) Your MTV culture is AIDS to the intelligent world that has eluded, "like", "oh my god", "like" your ruination of the ENGLISH language.
@Scrumdidilyumpchious Wow you are retarded, first off british humor is DRY and BORING. this show sucks compaired to the American version with Steve Carell. Fuck the brits they tried to fuck us all over 300 years ago, don't belive me watch a little movie called the patriot.
@BlackCobra08 Thats just a matter of culture mate. I've tried to look at the US office on several occasions, but can only manage about 10 minutes. It's quite funny, but the humor is really one layered, and it's so in your face. The UK version, on the other hand, is much more subtle, characters are way deeper and real, and I can watch it over and over, plus it has a real and very good ending.
@BlackCobra08: Firstly, 'The Patriot' is not historical, it's mainly fictitious, like most of Mel Gibson's historical films. Secondly, the internet itself is a British invention, so if you hate the British so much, don't be a hypocrite - please boycott it. Please also stop attempting to speak our language, which you bastardise with your brainless 'You suck!' comments. You have proven the point that British comedy is too subtle for American tastes. Go and watch some kid's cartoons instead.
@Aviva2121 LMAO! The internet was anything but an internet invention you dipship just google who invented the internet and you will see every single orginization listed was AMERICAN! You are one dumbfuck brit mate. also the events that transpired in both the movie braveheart and the patriot really did happen and both times it was the asshole british that were the antangonist. William wallice really did exsist and was killed by u assholes. Why dont you go fix your rotting british teeth or somthin
@BlackCobra08: The world wide web was invented in 1989 by British computer scientist Timothy Berners-Lee. And you didn't comprehend what I said about Mel Gibson's film 'The Patriot', that it's based on a fiction of historical events. As for 'Braveheart', the English and the Scottish are BOTH British, so what's your point? Indeed, what's the point in trying to explain basic facts to someone so dense they can barely read or write, and who spends their time watching comedy they hate.
@BlackCobra08 DRY & BORING = is better than the one-dimensional, shouty, arm-wavey humour that seems to be in a lot of American sitcoms. Not all of them though, as the US Office is great, but I think they should call it a day. The US Office was strangled by the network, as David Brent could say "I'd have to do you from behind, cos your breath smells of onions ", or calling a man's withered hand a "wanking claw". Michael Scott had his best lines on the cutting room floor. Cant upset the sponsors
This isn't very noticable at first, but you can tell a lot about Gareths character just by his movement when he says "Got a certificate". This is because he turns and points to the wall behind him to show evidence of his "award". The lame ass put a go karting certificate on the wall of his work! lmao.
what a stupid discussion... @cwhredsox just because the trailer you live in happens to be parked on US soil, doesn't mean that a version of the Office played by US actors should be better... who is "we" btw, you took no part in the making of the series. there are probably people from china more involved in the making of it than you.
just please, stop being irrational nationalist! be proud of your own accomplishments and appreciate others' for what they are, no where they come from.
Either way british people are always going to prefer the british version and americans are always going to prefer the american version. But i have never heard a brit say he prefer's the american version however i have heard many americans say they prefer the british version. plus without the british version there would be no american version so we win. lol

Agreed B, I personally call it The Office but many Americans have no idea this even exists so if you say The Office they will just think you mean the US version.
One question I am not having a go at anyone just asking if anyone knows why this is called The UK Office when this came first, shouldn't this be called The Office and the US one be called The US Office
@8ballsix27 trust me, it is, but we have a rule regarding telly in the UK: doesn't matter if it's violence, sex, or swearing, if it's after 9pm, anything goes!
It must be because im American but i just cant get into this show UK style. I fuckin love the US Office....Best show on Tv but the UK version is way over my head
I do find it odd that JIm (us) and Tim(uk) look very similar and have the same kind of face expressions
@B1Gcountry34 many people would complain about this comment, but I could see why you would find it harder to get into this version. Personally The Office UK is the funniest show I have ever seen, but it is quintessentially English. The US versoin was deffinatly made for a broader audience. While the office UK can be watched by anyone around the globe, it is a dramatzation of a typical dull, mundane UK office. If you havent, try watching it form the beginning on DVD - available at any store :D
@B1Gcountry34 It might depend on what you saw first or what you prefer. I agree with deancorleone regarding the U.S. version working for a broader audience. When I flip through the channels and land on it, I definitely laugh. With the UK version, though... while watching the entire show I laughed until my stomach hurt and cringed until I had to cover my eyes. It's much darker (from what I can tell, but I've hardly watched the American version). Personal taste. (Plus I saw it first.)
The geek is obviously a very common annoying twat.Everybody knows a dickhead just like him.I'm sure there is even a psychological title for his condition eg Obsessive Compulsive Fuckwit Disorder,
@googleisshittoss If you don't think you could become a F1 driver any day of the week if you just wanted to and if you believe that Bruce Lee is dead then you probably don't have to worry. ;)
This is very funny but ofc i am a European and i can see the humor in it. Furthermore i'd like to say that i would hit the first guy that said "it is not your computer" over the head with my company laptop.
@RastaJuggalo87 I, too, am a Yank who prefers David Brent to Michael Scott. My family and friends love the American version but I can barely watch it. It's ok, but nothing compared to the English version. Give me David and Gareth over Michael and Dwight any day.
I used to the think the American Office was shit but after watching it a bit more it does have its funny moments. Not as genius as the UK but still a good show. Enough with the English crooked teeth and American fat fuckers shooting up the place every country has assholes.
@Boschman0 This is laughable. It's called SUBTLE humor, like real life you know? The US is too "in your face" humor which actually takes a lot a way from the show. And no, I'm not just being biased as I'm from the UK, most people agree.

B1Gcountry34 1 year ago
@B1Gcountry34 many people would complain about this comment, but I could see why you would find it harder to get into this version. Personally The Office UK is the funniest show I have ever seen, but it is quintessentially English. The US versoin was deffinatly made for a broader audience. While the office UK can be watched by anyone around the globe, it is a dramatzation of a typical dull, mundane UK office. If you havent, try watching it form the beginning on DVD - available at any store :D
deancorleone 1 year ago
@deancorleone I appreciate this comment. You're giving an opinion, but not being a gerk. I'm planning to go rent it after seeing a few clips.
tessaroo4219 1 year ago
@B1Gcountry34 It might depend on what you saw first or what you prefer. I agree with deancorleone regarding the U.S. version working for a broader audience. When I flip through the channels and land on it, I definitely laugh. With the UK version, though... while watching the entire show I laughed until my stomach hurt and cringed until I had to cover my eyes. It's much darker (from what I can tell, but I've hardly watched the American version). Personal taste. (Plus I saw it first.)

RastaJuggalo87 1 year ago 2
@RastaJuggalo87 I, too, am a Yank who prefers David Brent to Michael Scott. My family and friends love the American version but I can barely watch it. It's ok, but nothing compared to the English version. Give me David and Gareth over Michael and Dwight any day.

I used to the think the American Office was shit but after watching it a bit more it does have its funny moments. Not as genius as the UK but still a good show. Enough with the English crooked teeth and American fat fuckers shooting up the place every country has assholes.
