    michelle

    louisiana

  • there is a roomer going around that one weekend a month will have a sequil I hope it does but i hope it's different actors or at the very least not renee.

  • Good form on the pushups!

  • HI! love this video! could you put italian or english subtitles?because it's a little difficult for me to understand all the phrases without them..

  • HI! love this video! could you put italian or english subtitles?because it's a little difficult for me to understand all the phrases without them..

  • Renee is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! she shines in any role that she plays =D

  • Great video. i'm assuming it's just because it's on youtub,e but the sound quality is horrible. The first half of the video before I turned it way way up I couldn't hear a word anyone was saying. Hope I'm not going deaf.

  • I'm enlisting in the National Guard soon and I pray to God that I don't have any children should the possibility of deployment be presented......

  • @kirbaeus...we had a two week notice. We may have been on the boards for a time, but weren't notified until two weeks before we left. And it was just this crazy. Bravo to Renee for such an excellent portrayal.

  • In response to why join if you have a kid ...if you joined the ANG before September 11 hit when we were in a relatively peacetime setting chances are you wouldn't get called up (at least not with that short of a notice) When Sept. 11 happened and the proverbial "shit hit the fan" the ANG and Reserves were called on more to serve. Recruiters will "usually" not flat out lie but they will tell you what you want to hear and often gloss over the harsh reality. Love the film!

  • can anyone tell me in three words what happened?

  • Wow, I really felt the emotion. The actors were superb and Renee gave an amazing performance, she was really inside the character's head. Xx

  • wow renee est tres bonne actrice elle est parfaite ,je l'adore .

  • This was nice man. So what happened??? Like I don't care if it's not a true story (might be somewhere out there). What was your ending? Really left me wanting more. Haha

  • Man, you know, you did something realy cool here. The play all on the off space (i have no idea what the term wiht be in english, sorry if i sound like tarzan), it's a great idea, wiht some friends we just shot a shortfilm base on the same idea, it's not done yet, but we are getting in there. Hellos from Argentina.

  • i dont see what she's worried about, Females are not in the infantry.

  • @TexasDistortion shes worried for her kids

  • @TexasDistortion

Did you watch the video retard? It's about her kids.

  • WHY did that lady join?? lol

  • Approximately how much dies it cost to film out a 10 minute film with an Arri Laser II? How much did it cost for you?

Thank for the help. I just finished principle photography on a short film. We filmed on a Canon XH A1, with a Letus 35 mm adapter and a set of Nikkor lenses.

  • I don't get it--do these people that sign up for National Guard or anything part-time not understand that it's not just a paycheck? Lord have mercy--people are unbelievable!!!

  • 09:20 "Fuck buddy" - hahaha

  • this is so gr8

  • This short is amazing, it shows people not only that the brave men and women fighting are not only risking thier lives and have to leave on short notice but its also about what they have to leave behind.

Renee was perfect for this role.

  • awesome,but what happens next?

    r u going 2 make a part 2?

  • SO glad I found this, It says she starred in it on IMbd and Ive been lookinf 4 sum Renee O'Connor films/movies/tv to watch besides xena!

I love Xena, but Ive seen all the episodes about a hundred times and I love renee o'connor.

  • Why is it called "One Weekend A Month"?

  • If you're reserve you are active one weekend a month.

  • in australia, the reserves only train 1 weekend a month but they can be called on to serve at any time. id say its the same in america

  • Because Gaurd & Reserve use "We work only one weekend a month" as a recruiting tool.

  • you train for two day's a month and usually a FTX or training exercise that can last for 2 week's which is usually once a year, hence one weekend a month two weeks a year.

  • national guard is supposed to be a weekend a month after basic training and each unit gets deployed every 5 years. but its bs... they activate u whenever they want. they tell u that u wont get activated for 5 years from the day u enlist

  • @jlgpaintball333 the national guard is one weekend a month two -three weeks a year as well as when the governer activates you and every unit and division was placed on the three year rotation, when i enlisted my unit was mob'd every other year and people were ok with that and PLUS who doesnt like the money haha

  • Renee is fantastic in this, as always. When it's possible you all should definitely check out the short film she wrote and directed, and briefly appeared in, called "Words Unspoken". I don't think it's online anywhere just yet, but watch out for it!

  • My Government teacher effectively called the National Guard a bunch of wussies. I told him he can tell that to the families of the 400 Guardmen/women who have been killed in Iraq.

  • hooah

  • Renee is really talented!! She's such an amazing actor! thanks for posting this

    -Tilde

  • hey is this a movie or what? i would like to see the rest. please let me know! :)

  • just shows how talented renee is i love it and it gave me a better understaning of what these soldiers go through

  • Whole units get "the call" months prior to MOB. These days maybe even up to a year. Two weeks? Unrealistic, unless it's right before the Iraq invasion and you were in a critical needs unit. They also *usually* make huge provisions for single parents who have sole custody of their children. Sometimes this does prevent someone from deploying. The National Guard is great with family readiness groups and the like. But good acting, just alittle unrealistic scenario.

  • Not in 2004 when the film was made. :(

  • Kirbaeus is right about the family readiness programs, but things don't always work out as smooth as we'd like. The scenario isn't as off as it could be. It's not like the National Guard broke down her door and dragged her onto a plane.

  • What did you shoot the film with? What camera? What aspect ratio? What did you edit it on?

  • Panasonic Varicam with a Pro35 Adapter with a set of Zeiss Super Speed Prime Lenses. Aspect ratio was 16x9. Filmed out to 35mm with an Arri Laser II.

  • Wow! What did you use to cut the film? Final Cut Pro? Avid Film Composer software?

  • One of the Sergeants at our RSB detachment got 3 week notice of a deployment. It sucked. Otherwise I'm with you.

  • @kirbaeus idk man we got called a month out that next week we were at lame ass shelby

  • there cpild be several more parts to this movie

  • ....horrible ending. Everything else was actually pretty good...a lot better than I thought it would be when I first clicked to watch this video.

I just signed with the national guard, and my first weekend drill starts in about 5 days.

  • If it is in 5 days you do not have to report you have an 11 day period where you dont have to report

  • Well one of the people she talked to did say a week or two, but that's not the point. It's the fact that she needs to make arrangements for her kids to stay with someone while she's deployed and do it on short notice.

  • Where those kids adopted because they look nothing like her

  • They were born out of a mixed race relationship. The film also implies that they are only half siblings.

  • why did people give mnbutch thumbs down for saying that? It's true, isn't it? Anyway, great film.

  • is this a movie or what? cause I would like to see the rest of it.

  • Good storyline and very realistic, editing and directing was good too and Renee was simply AWESOME. She's got so much talent...

renee was truly outstanding in this short film.

great story, and great acting all around.

  • Wow!! That was so intense, Renee O'Connor was amazing in this. I was nearly crying while watching it, she had me actually believing that she was really in that situation! Love Renee!

  • wow that was amazing!! Renee is fantastic in this, she is just an awesome actress!! She actually had me shedding a few tears myself, she had me believing that she was really in that situation. Love Renee O'Connor!!

  • I luv Renee she is such an underated actor and this short film just proves how much a person can "really" shine on such a simple yet extreemly emotional piece... Eric Escobar s a genius massive thumbs up from me...

    x x x emie194 x x x

  • wow renee is amazing

  • shes a talent alright, but i wanna know whos gonna look after the kids, hehe.

  • renee is great. i liked it. thanks for posting. it was interesting. i like the whole one person against the world thing.

  • renee is a great actress, she should get more big roles in movies, shes so talented and beautiful!!

  • just love what renee was wearing ;)

  • i like this. Renee always manages to add something unique to what she does. She gives the character so many layer and nuances, for people to notices.

The idea for this is clever, and problably a little dark if you think about it. As far as quality, goes, considering how fast they shot this and the tools that where problably at their desposal for editing, this is pretty good. good on ya, renee.

    great,depths, great improvazations.

  • wow dis is sad

  • Simply stunning, captured the emotion perfectly.

  • this was absolutely awesome. I loved it. I really wanted to cry with her.

  • Oh Renee I love you so much. You are great actress

  • WHO IS RENEE??? HOW DOES EVERYONE ON HERE KNOW HER? Is she an actress in independent films?

  • Renee O'Connor played Gabrielle in Xena Warrior Princess

  • Okay I have to say...that little girl (who plays the daughter) is AN amazing actress. Wow she has a bright future ahead of her!

    Renee, as always shines!

  • wow - just wow

This made me tear up... Amazing... By far one of the best short films I've ever seen

  • great acting, great cinematography, could have used a more realistic phone filter for the people on the other end of the line it didn't sound 100% believable, editing during the phone conversations could have been a little tighter. but these are all minor things this is a great great short film

  • wow, great short! amazing how much emotion you can capture through conversations on the phone.

  • reneé shines on this short film (as always).

    she's amazingly talented.

  • always love renee...funny...was thinking about the National Guard...

  • Reene O'conner = talented as hell!!!!!!

  • renee is just amazing

and that lil girl omdzzz she was a fab lil actress

  • If the character knows she is in such a precarious situation, why sign up in the first place?

    Love, love, love Renee.

  • maybe she thought the gaurd wont go to war like that she wanted to do some thing for her country it was sad that her bf her mom wont help her i think they should have kid care for people fightin over sea like that they giving there life give some thing back so they wont have to worry about there kids

  • because people can sign up, being told that they'd only serve for one year, and then be forced to be serve many more times than they were originally told

  • Renee always shines.

  • @postpunk260 I think she's grown a lot over the years. She also seems to do well in those "tough women" kind of roles. Place her with the right people/writers/project and you have something. I think it's rediculous that she hasn't been chosen for something bigger. Maybe she's not into that or ready for it personally, I don't know. But I think she would do well in a major role.

  • wanna save it on ur computer then go here reneeoconnorfanclub dot com/video.html

  • She is soooo talented! Love her. :>)

  • great actress

  • Wow... so sad. Great job Renee. I absolutely love her!

  • i love renee so much

    *_*

  • God Renee is amazing.

  • what is the outline of this story i really don't get it??:S:S:S

  • It's about a single mother who is "on call" in the war in iraq, but has no help for her to take care of her kids. It is the sadest of sad but also the truest of true.

  • brilliant.

btw do you know where I can download it?

it will be great to have this short movie in my pc =)

  • I think it's on renee's official website, reneeoconnorfanclub dot com!

  • This is the whole movie. It was a short film done for a festival. Sry there couldn't have been more :(

  • Was this the only part off Renee in he movie?? there must be more? Can someone upload the whole movie? Or can some upload more parts with Renee?? Please?

  • Renee O'Connor is amazing !

  • Wow, this gave me the chills. It brought back a lot of bad memories from when I was got "the call" and things really were just...turned upside-down. This felt soooo real. Awesome job.

  • if she already had the kid why join the reserves. it sucks for the soldiers. but... Isn't the reason you join the armed forces to represent our country in whatever way called upon. Yeah, the president is a shit head and we probably have no business being involved in someone elses battle. I do remember quite a few people calling for blood after 9-11. And the presidents approval rating wan't so bad when the war started. Hillary backtrack. .

  • Who says she wasn't in the guard before she had her kids? And you can tell by their ages that they were born BEFORE Bush sent troops to Iraq.

  • I agree with Bengeary, this really was moving! It's so great seeing Renee in this kind of role. She did a wonderful job! This really hit home for me. My best friend's baby is due in September, which is the same time her husband is getting deployed back to Iraq for the 3rd time. Just another reason why I am completely against the war...

  • wow am against the war and all, but I truly support our troops. your movie was really moving! i was on the verge of tears. Very well done!

  • when i saw this it was so disturbing that i was not normal for like a whole week it really hit me where it hurts

  • man thats amazing. i really liked it alot!!

  • wonderful job. I know first hand what a phone call like that can do,but no matter what you can get through it.

  • Great job Renee O'Connor.

  • good acting, great cinematography, good topic...the pacing is a little too slow for my taste, but overall good work.

  • wow. that was so moving. i didn't know that Renee had it in her to play a role like that.

  • Wow. That was heartbreaking.

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • This is the best short film I have ever seen, hands down.
