Aside from the fact that there's no biological mechanism to enable toxins to be absorbed through the colon into the blood, surgeries and autopsies revealed no fecal accumulation. Colon cleansing quickly was relegated to the realm of quackery.

@akima57185 What were the demographics? Was it a place like America where people have a high mortality rate due to diet and lifestyle? Or a place like Japan or Thialand (my grandfather's home for 4 decades now) where they outlive Americans, eat a high nutrition, high fiber diet and llive active and well into old age? I'm a medical assistant and have seen the drastic difference between elderly people who nourish their bodies with a high plant diet and those who don't. Peace and blessings.
