Fechin is my inspiration and one of the greatest painters, not talked about in this country. I called his museum and after talking to and older women for about 40mins I realize it was his daughter.iya. I had seen several pictures of her in two books I found about him. it was a strange experiance to now be talking to this elderly women, who I felt so close to because of her fathers works.
A very articulate and aware artist, a great pleasure to watch and listen to. Thanks. His videos are definitely on my list of future acquisitions. Lots to see in his work! Besides Fechin, I think of Boldini as well.
The Fechin pieces that are displayed at the San Diego Museum of Art are smaller in size, which made it more feasible to make each abstract individual brush stroke look like and object or shape.
In this video the canvas is so big that it looks like he's doing more 'tiling' then abstraction with his brush strokes?
This question shouldn't be offensive since you are suppose to ask questions to understand the technical principles of painting, per Jeff Watts closure statement.
As the video producer, we are not qualified to answer technical questions about Jeff's painting techniques. Would ask that you direct any questions or comments relating to Mr. Watt's painting techniques to him at his website at "jeffreyrwatts" com

Fechin is such a great influence on so many of these Alla Prima painters. Its a dam shame so many people don't know anything about him.

I appreciate your comments, but I didn't hear you make any reference to Nikolai Fechin. I see him in you.

Jeff is well known for painting in a "Fechin" style. In fact, he owns Fechin's original easel, which was given to him by Fechin's daughter.

Beautiful painting, great message. It truly is a form of meditation and training the mind to remain focused in the moment.
