  • Wow, over a year and no one has yet mentioned that if they had a time machine they would rather be back then, again! Ahem, well I would.

Teriffic job at editing, I could watch them real girls a go-going all day long. Yep, I am part of that crowd that says the women were better back then.

  • Phil "FANG" Volk was extra-cool with his VOX "PHANTOM" bass.

  • Said it once but gonna say it again, these are the best Go-go dancers I've ever seen..

  • When I saw this video, before you corrected it ,I was shocked by the disrespect for the band, especially, cutting off Mark's head, while the credits were running. Very immature at best. Was someone jealous? Thank you very much for the re-edit. It was great!

  • This is an excellent re-edit especially of Lada Edmund Jr. (Go Go dancer on the right cage) She still gives me a hard on...Definitely a 4 notcher!!!!

  • one of my favorites

  • I had a Mosrite Ventures model too but it was a show piece only due to terminally out of tune because of warped neck. Neck was too weak with insufficient supports for the heavy body. As I am sure you know it was made of bowling ball material. They did have a good sound until they went out of tune. Got 50 bucks off on a purchase of a new Fender Jaguar in 1969. Sold the Jag at a loss 10 years ago and now I have neither guitar. Very cool to hear people talk of them.

  • This was one of my favorite songs ever because it was the first great, great lead guitar segment in the middle.

  • The Raiders still are putting on a great show. Used to see them in the lounge in Harrah's Reno and Tahoe.

  • Awesome reedit. I had no idea until I read your remarks.

  • Back to Mosrites: Although relatively heavy, there necks were slim and smooth which provided fast ease of playing. Another unique characteristic were the pick-ups; which were "hand wound" using special wiring. An obvious trademark was the headstock...with it's "M" carved at the end. The other visible destinction were the color schemes; the most popular being the "sunburst".

  • Speaking of Mosrites...two of my uncles (Don and Marvin Stanley), along with friends Jim Hall and Bill Gruggett (VP Operations and Chief Luthier) worked for Semie at his Bakersfield plant during the height of Mosrite's popularity. In 1966, Jim Hall departed to start his own business (Hallmark Guitars, Inc.) in Arvin (about 30-35 miles south of Bakersfield). Shortly afterwards, Don and Bill also left to join Jim at Hallmark. Within a few years, Semie closed his Bakersfield operations.

  • FANG RULES!

  • Go Go girls are AWESOME!!!! Great song.

  • Great song . It was also a great show, I couldn't understand (10 yrs old) at the time how they could jump into a POOL with electric guitars. Well now I know LOL. I loved these guys and their (very kewl) wardrobe. I have a lotta clothes like that I wear on stage if someone ever looks at the Bassplayer lol

  • great screaming punk vocals!! alot of bands these days would kill for a mark lindsey, believe me. it's like mark could sing for any type of music and sing it better! i've been in many bands, includind hardcore, punkjazz, hard rock etc.i would of killed to get this guy in those bands! mark you are that damn good, and it's uncommon to find such an immense great, great ,great vocal talent. MARK,you are one of my favorite singers, and one of the best.

  • @desamator11 I totally agree buddy. They were so great in their day. Did you know they had a show? Kinda like "

"The Monkees" but it was "The Paul Revere & the Raiders" show. Also great stage name I thought.

  • @desamator11 I agree 100%! I've always said that Lindsay was one of THE BEST singers in Rock, period!

  • You've done an excellent job on the editing!

So glad you posted this video! Love this song!

  • Was that one blonde girl the same go-go dancer from the Sonics music video, Psycho a go go?

If so, I think she is great. I dance like her, but she was the queen of it. :)

  • In 1965 this was the heaviest, most bad ass song I new of. The only thing close to this was the Kinks.

  • Holy mother of God.

Paul Revere and the Raiders invented punk rock!

  • @JohnFordDanceTroupe ....along with scores and scores of other mid-60s American bands that mostly never made it out of the garage. The term "punk rock" actually first came into use in the early '70s and it was being used back then to describe those very bands.

  • This video is going in fast motion! That's why the dancers look more like possesed souls rather than dancing. Could someone please upload a live performance?

  • @historiadorderock Wrong. This video is not speeded up.

  • Great editing to me, I couldn't tell where the cuts came in:)

  • looks like the beatles

  • i love paul revere and the raiders. i say to my friends hey you've heard of the beatles right? and they say sure then i say have you heard of paul revere and the raiders and theyre like you mean the guy and his army who yelled the british are comin? comn!

  • It bears repeating...you just can't have enough Go-Go Dancers!

  • Who are the 2 morons who hit "Dislike"? How can you not like Paul Revere & The Raiders? I mean, come on, now!! We're talking about Mark, Paul, Drake, Fang and Smitty! My favorite band from the "60's. LOL

  • THIS HAS A VERY STRONG PUNKROCK FEEL AND SOUND TO IT,VERY INTENSE, VERY LOUD, VERY ANGRY, VERY GOOD! PUNKROCK BANDS CAME FROM MUCH OF THIS TYPE OF POWER DISPLAYED IN SONGS LIKE THIS.COMPLETLEY AWESOSOME.

  • @desamator11 Thank you--I've also felt that the Raiders had some prehistoric punkrock cred, at least in their earlier recordings. As a matter of fact, I remember hearing a cover of "Just Like Me" by a punk band in 1981, so that shows that some punkers themselves considered this a good song.

  • Great to see Drake and Mike especially on this.

  • i love the go-go dancing.

  • dick clark was the

raiders manager ,had them on his show quite often and that led them to Happening 67 which was the Raiders own tv show ..have all their albums

  • @trukman333 Happening 68.

  • Sorry for all the repeat posts. And I am sorry for offending you. That was not my intent. I was actually agreeing with you about the show 'Hullabaloo." I enjoy your videos very much!

  • @515linda No problem and no offence taken - misunderstandings happen easily on the web. Actually I'm iterested in the history of the Hullabaloo show(s). As someone who obviously takes an interest in such things I wonder if you know if Hullabaloo, Hullabaloo A Go Go and Hollywood A Go Go were related in any way?

  • @pernicketty Hullabaloo a go-go was simply a segment of Hullabaloo showcasing the show's dancers. I believe that Hollywood a go-go was a local show from L.A. that went into syndication, but I've never seen it.

  • Comment removed

  • @515linda You've just described the basic format of every popular music TV show that ever there was from any era. What's so special about Hullabaloo? If shows like that had never existed there would be almost no footage of these bands for anyone to look at now.

  • @515linda So sorry. I do apologise profusely for forcing you to watch it.

  • @pernicketty Well, no need to paint them all with the same brush. American Bandstand, Lloyd Thaxton, Shindig, Where the Action Is, were all way better than Hullabaloo. Hell, the super square Ed Sullivan was way better than Hullabaloo. The only good thing I can say about the show(other than the bands) was that it lasted barely more than a year. Seriously, it sucked ass. And you said yourself that the Raiders were treated like dirt.

  • @pernicketty No need to apologize. I like watching the Raiders and you said yourself that they were treated like dirt on the show.

  • 1965 was the BEST year for go-go dancing. These gals are the best I've ever seen. Great song.

  • Nothing can beat the 60s

  • GO-GO Dancers! This was awesome!! Thank You Comrade!!!

  • one of the best bands ever way under rated

  • Nice double-neck Mosrite being played by the guitarist! I used to have a Ventures model (single-neck). Cool guitars for a cool period in history. And PR&TR were a great, great band! I still love their version of Louie, Louie (admittedly not as much as The Kingsmen, but right up there!).

  • @squidlycarmichael Yea, I love Mosrites too. Did you know that Semie Moseley got the body shape for the Ventures model by tracing the outline of a Stratocaster and turning it upside down?

  • I think this is my favorite Raiders song. Most of the performances on Hullabaloo were live. Looks like they replaced the original audio with the recording.

  • @bluejazz51 Well spotted. In the original clip the song was interrupted halfway through. This is a re-edit using the audio from the record.

  • Fantastic song; fantastic group; fantastic times....

  • cant stop listening to this song, LOVE IT! and the GO-GO chicks rock!!

  • cant stop listening to this song, LOVE IT!

  • To all the posts about the go-go dancing...the dancer in the right cage is the one and only Lada Edmund, Jr.

She is now 63 years old..still gorgeous and a sweetheart.

    lada-st-edmund d o t c o m

    (I'm her PR director.)

  • @kevinvanmeter Thanks Kevin, good to hear from you!

I've found 3 other clips of her on YT (apart from all the Hullabaloo clips she's in), they are 'Lada Edmunds "sings"', 'The Sonics - Psycho A Go Go' and 'Lada Edmund Jr., Tribute video!'. You must know everyone's gonna be asking you about her and Mark's little escapade don't you Kevin!

  • @pernicketty That's what I'm here for...Lada is going to be Part of "Super Mega Show." It will be held on the weekend of July 9th in Fairfield, New Jersey.

Mark Lindsay and Lada will be there.

    Go here: supermegashow d o t c o m

  • @kevinvanmeter Looks like one helluva show, Kevin!

  • awesome guitar solo :59-1:30..... wish i could do that

  • my mother can wrap around a pole like a 16 year-old

  • @link71711 ...

  • An awsome, supremely powerful pop anthem if ever there was one.

  • why can't go-go dancing come back???

  • @link71711 The dancers are all in wheelchairs now.

  • Comment removed

  • OMGosh, now I'm happy

  • Great song! Love the bangs Mark!

  • I am so diggin' the dancing girls in the cages. They are HOT!!!

  • If anyone at YouTube is listening, why are my comments not appearing and how do I protest the removal of a video?

  • @pellmj1

Listen to Freddy Wellers song The Legend of

Paul Revere and you will find out a lot more

    about the band.

  • you mean mark was a rock n roll bad boy?it helps my enjoyment of this garage masterpiece.thank the lord he wasn't some goody goody.maybe he also handed out leapers to his band mates before the show.

  • Leapers?

  • Mark always said he banged the chunky go-go dancer in the white dress after the show - the one swinging her hair and looking like an epileptic having an orgasm.

  • @franklinrocks1

Oh, really..THAT is Lada you are talking about..and I doubt seriously it was HER that Mark "Banged." Lada was only 17 years old at the time. She was still under supervision of her mother.

And I know Lada...she was raised right...she NEVER slept around..ever!

And Lada was NEVER chunky..David Winters challenging choreogrphy who keep ANYONE slender.

Like to know if Mark REALLY said that...I will ask him that when I see him at Super Mega Show.

  • @kevinvanmeter I totally apologize - I saw that comment on another board and passed it on which I should not have done. Please accept my apologiesto you and all concerned.

  • @franklinrocks1

Just to let you know..I am having my weekly meeting with Lada today (6/16). I will ask her about this supposed episode with her and Mark Lindsay. If it turns out NOT to be true, you have some apologizing to do...to Lada and Mark Lindsay. I will NOT stand for anyone defaming my client...period!

You can save me that trouble right now.

Did mark Lindsay really say that to you?

  • @kevinvanmeter Again, my apologies. This was something I saw second hand and should not have posted. I am truly sorry. Stupid thing to do.

  • @franklinrocks1

Apologies accepted. Hope you'll come to Super Mega Show...I'll personally introduce you to my Lady Lada and I will make sure she gives you a hug and a kiss!

    KV

  • @kevinvanmeter Forget meeting her - I wanna meet Mark Lindsay! PR & TR were my first fav band growing up in York, PA - I still remember them from Where the Action Is in 65-66. Amazing talent. I LOVE them back in the 60s!!!!

  • @kevinvanmeter Does that mean I can meet him or that you like me? LOL

  • @franklinrocks1

Get kissed first by Lada..THEN you meet mark!

  • @kevinvanmeter Im 53 so Lada might like me!!s this show coming to Pittsburgh?

  • Great song. Mark is the best.

  • Love this song!!! And need more GO-GO dancers!! The ones on there are great but theres always room for more!! ha ha ha!!

  • Good job! You can never have too many go-go girls!

  • good job!

  • Ha ha! Thanks. (Why don't YOU) 'Get a life' doesn't have a subject of course but command structures are an exception to the rule that a clause must have a subject. Hope I didn't bore you to tears.

  • @pernicketty This is funny:)

  • You seen to have incorrectly assumed that 'Just Like Me' is a clause, which must have a subject, when in fact it is a phrase - which does not have a subject. If you had been correct then the object pronoun 'Me' should have been replaced by the subject pronoun 'I'. You can tell that 'Just Like Me' is not a clause because it has no verb. The subject pronoun is actually the 'it' in the clause 'It's Just Like Me', which we know from listening to the song.

  • is "get a life" a clause?

  • Indeed it is and I take your point . I just couldn't tell him why he was wrong in fewer words.

  • @pernicketty Yaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn.......sorry there was no subject there.

  • Sure, correct English would be, "Just Like I," but it just wouldn't be the same!

  • gogo dancers.!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh god i love the gogo dancers. Great song, great clip. Thanks for posting

  • This takes me back! I used to dance like this! I loved Paul Revere and the Raiders!

  • You danced like the Hullabaloo Girls, Claycat4? —Whoa, that's hot!...

  • LOL! Well, I tried to dance like them! I was young then. I still dance to rock, but I don't let anyone watch me now! :-)

  • great job on a true classic sixties tune i think paul revere & the raiders best song. loved the fashions back then. go go dancers and all !! i dig it !!

  • Bring back Rock n Roll like this!!!

  • That's some pretty frantic go-go dancing....

  • Man i wish i had NEVER sold my Mosrite. That Guitar was almost to easy to play,I used Ernie Ball extra slinky 008s..Talk about feather touch action. This band NEVER gets old, sounds just as fresh today.

  • Just plain ole........GROOVY!!!!!!

  • Wow- a Mosrite double-neck!!

  • Another Mosrite fan! I love 'em too. One of my all-time favourite guitars.

  • The rthymn player in my old band had one of those (may even be the same one, actually) it sounded great, but man, it was heavy. After about 3 hours he was wore out.

  • Solid Sixties

  • Thank You! Ya did a great job.

  • won't play right this moment, but i love, love, love it

  • great, I know if it would just play

  • Jesus - an amazing talent like Drake Levin dies at 62 and STD-ridden, brain dead, no talent wanna-be hacks like Jessica Simpson and Britany Spears will live to be 100. Life aint fair.

  • Are you trying to make a connection that doesn't exist? If you reread your post,I think you will find it kind nonsensical. Life isn't about being 'fair', fair is YOUR concept. That kind of thinking is going to make you very unhappy and unappreciative of the 'Great Show' But life is true. If you can appreciate Drake Levin, someone I bet no one knows, then you might appreciate this process, it is deeper than you can imagine and it's later than you think. Good Luck!
  • introduced by bill and bobby, right?

  • Treated like dirt is right. Without those matching uniforms, they look like a usual mid-60's band.

  • i love these girls dancing!!

  • those girls dancing were the 1st go go girls ever seen on TV in those days

  • I loved them back in the day and remember this on Hullaballoo! Mark was my favorite, but Drake and Fang and Smitty were great musicians. RIP Drake...

  • I noticed the boys were without their stage duds, too. There very well may have been a mix up with the laundry, luggage lost at the airport, etc. Maybe the act scheduled to perform last had to bow out at the last minute and the boys had to take the stage FAST and didn't have time to change? Stuff like that happened back then!

  • Ha ha! maybe the Army took the uniforms back!

  • Naw, just a different look for a little while during this time. Look at the cover of the Midnight Ride LP.

BTW, God bless Drake Levin who passed yesterday, July 4th, 2009 at the age of 62. No Raider guitarist ever really completely filled his spot.

  • Nice to see Drake Levin in a clean, clear performance clip. Absolutely killer double tracked guitar solo by Drake.

  • Adam Lambert should do this song on American Idol and it would be a hit all over again. Mark Lindsay is great in his performance of the song. That is a PRO.

  • Hippies

  • Smile when you say that!

  • mods!

  • I must say that Mark Lindsay was a looker.

  • Great tune and the dancing was a WHOLE lot diff. then. Excellent

  • HaHa, good one. They look ed so much more professional with the matching outfits than without.

  • Say, what happened to the matching (revolutionary war uniforms) wardrobe?

  • Maybe there was a mix-up at the laundry?

  • Great video! I miss those days!

  • Wow, the dancing is great! If we tried to dance like that now it'd mean a trip to the ER. No wonder people didn't have problems with their weight back then. :-)

Great fun, thank you for posting this!!

  • To Pernicketty..you are quite right!! But I rally appreciated the dancer footage..You HAVE to have some of that!! It was all good and great..many thanks..

  • If a time machine is available, I will go back to 1966-67, maybe 75 and 76 too..

  • '66 was a magic year - but mostly because of what was happening in the US I think. It seemed like the Yanks got the British sound and then added something of their own. There has never been a period in the history of Rn'R when styles changed so quickly.

  • This is vintage 1966 to the Max.Great stuff..

  • real 1966..with the go go dancers and all of that..pop but real good stuff...

  • And real girls too! LOL!

  • Hey thanks! Great clip! Washington crossing the Delaware and a real horse on the set even!

  • Wow! Sounds like a cool clip. I'll do searches every now and then to see if it comes up and of course I'll let you know if I come across it. Thanks for the tip-off!

  • Sorry, I don't have it or know where you could get it. I wasn't actually aware that they had done 'Kicks' on Hullabaloo but just like you I would love to see it if anyone out there has it.

  • Thanks for your comment. I am actually to blame for the excessive amount of dancer footage in this clip - it was the only way I could think of to spin the clip out to the full length of the song. I searched out all the clips from Hullabaloo shows I could find that used that set and then borrowed all the dancer bits that seemed to fit.

  • Thanks for editing. All of the Hullabaloo shows I have watched are annoying because they focus on the dancers.

  • The way the dancers are located is fine. I have seen clips which have the dancers are in front of the performers. thanks!
