  • How come everybody has grease in their hair?

  • @planetcheck it's 1959

  • @planetcheck LOL That was 1958.

  • Love these great clips

  • Dick Clark's grandparents were from Rochester NY...and moved to Utica

  • Do you know, the show where some lady, some kind of singer or theatre actress. Who was going to be honored, gave an award to Ralphn Edwards before Ralph presented her with the This Is Your Life thing?! Forget her name and used to be on Youtube but, Youtube took it down.

  • God Help Poor Mr.Clark..being manipulated to appear on this tv surprise party hosted by that obnoxious, disruptive and arrogant pest..Ralph B-!

  • How wonderful to see this program again. I wish they had something like this on the air today (after all, this is a reality show right?) Would love to see many many more of "This is your Life"

  • @dancingbutrfli Thank you :)

  • At the time this was originally televised, Ralph was trying to get younger "honorees" to appear on the program [Jayne Mansfield was another example] to appeal to, naturally, a younger audience for his sponsor, Procter & Gamble. In the fall of 1960, Richard Hudnut beauty products became the show's new sponsor (opposite "WHAT'S MY LINE?"), and Edwards promised them more "youth-oriented" subjects appealing to those who were Hudnut's biggest customers..."THIS IS YOUR LIFE" ended after that season.

  • I agree but little did they know that this was only the beginning for Dick. I am surprised though to see that - greasy kid stuff- on his hair that he didnt use later in life.

  • I'm surprised that they did a This is your life on Dick Clark, I mean, his career, his nationwide fame was just beginning at that time. I thought This Is Your Life did shows on people who have had a long LONG careers with resumes that would be as thick as a telephone book.

  • A little surprising. No shortage of big names to pay tribute though. Imagine the show they could do today!
