Dude that looks like NCVC.. there is a guy that can jump that high. They look exactly alike. Oh! Does it really matter on how high he got. The point is he can jump and he got a good hit.
lets not forget this is the junior olympics. this is much far beyond what 80-85% of the volleyball players can reach. in reality, they're at that level for a good reason so theres no point in ripping on the hit.
just throw away everything we both said. forget about it. this is the sequence of volleyball: pass set spike if you dont admit tht you shouldnt play volleyball. but all im saying is offense (spike) relys on deffense (pass). im not saying you dont need offense cause you def do but im simply saying offense does rely on defense. even if an offensive player passes the ball he is still relying then on defense first. if cant at least admit tht then your stupid because tht common knowledge in this game
Im really anoyid that you keep saying im stupid! I have newer said that defence is useless in volleyball! I have just tried to think like you and see what the first thing to do in volleyball is! You said it was Defence, so nothing could be more important! I said that the first thing would be a serve! Of cause you need all aspects to be a good team! I mean, we havent even discussed the setter who is also quite relevant!
You all keep forgetting about service! If you make 5 points on serves in every set you are pretty well going!
Maybe its because you are all small young and fast, and serves dont come that fast, but belive me! The serve is the first attack and can really you the game!
i agree with defense being the most important everyone can jump and everyone can hit the ball there not much skill in tht but being able to read the direction of the ball and controlling it to get a good pass is alot harder than jumping and swinging. im 5'8" and i can hit pretty good and block and im not even a front row player. if you dont have defense you dont have offense so ultimately defense is the base
Bad excuse for being short and bad at hitting! Defense is important, yes, but does the defence score any points? By your logic the serve would be the most important in volleyball, wich in many cases are the trouth!
@SirHeinrich1 and does offense keep the other team from scoring? no retard without defense there is no offense. if you have a team of all defensive players versus all offense the defensive team would win (hint blocking is part of defense).
Your logic is way of! The service is the first offence, so if you dont have a player on your team who can get the ball over the net, how are you ever gonna make points and win? Maybe you have good defence so you recive 22 service, but on the remaining 3 you make mistakes and the offence is the winner!
@SirHeinrich1 serving is a minor part of offense anyone who plays high school volleyball can serve. from there on you just need to be able to defend. heres the scenario for you, my team serves against yours. with a great defense we block you for 10 straight points you then serve we use 3 bump passes to just get it over the net then we block and receive the serve. we go on another 10 point run you finally tool our block you serve we do the same thing only this time we just need 3 blocks.
Or... My team serve 25 points in a row without you being able to pass it, since you cant block the serve. If you manage to get the ball over the net, i will just hit a touch-out on the outside of your block! If you get a point, you serve the ball into the net, and i get to serve again! so i win with at least 20 points in each set!
you really are a complete moron. you do realize that when you serve the defending team PASSES the ball meaning if i have perfect defense i will be able to pick up every serve you throw at me. then i simplely pass it over and proceed to block you. plus you have no defense to pass to the setter to set your hitters. your situation is completely flawed
If you can just assume that you have perfect passers, i quess i can assume that i have perfect servers, so i will make a few aces pr set. And if you assume that my defence is so bad they cant take a free ball, i quess i can assume that you cant serve the ball over the net. That means that youll lose!
You call my situation flawed? - Its based on your stupid logic. I would have thought of this scenario myself, because its so redicilous, but you showed me the way!
@SirHeinrich1 serving is a extremely minor part of offense. and besides if youre relying on only serving for this arguement then your only proving my point because you realize that you can do anything else to get points. so if you can come up with something other than some minor serving offense to show your point, then id love to hear it but you have shown no proof to beat my team other than serving which every volleyball player knows if a minor skill and any player can pick up any serve
- Im starting to doubt that you play volleyball at all!
Ive already told you that you can do nothing to stop my attacks! If these "any" players of yours who apparently are som kind of superhuman, is anything below 6 feet ill probably hit over the block everytime, if they really are blocking, ill probably hit a touch-out every time, so you really, really wont stand a chance!
@SirHeinrich1 im simply stating that picking up a serve is one of the easier parts of volleyball and can be achieved simply by practicing and if you disagree that anyone tht plays volleyball cant learn to pick up any serve then i seriously doubt you actually play volleyball anyways you keep sayin your gunna hit the ball.....how will you get set without passing...? you cant anwer tht question because theres no other anwer you need passing there are other ways of scoring points other then hitting
You say that anyone can learn to pick up any serve!? Why is there aces at the Olympics then?
I know i need someone to play the ball to the setter, what i say is, that i think offence is more important, since you cant make points without offence!
@SirHeinrich1 well im over this arguement cause you literally didnt listen to anything i said. there are other ways to score without offense. (im talking about reality now) blocking and if you team makes a mistake like serving error or hitting into the net for example. my final statement is the basis for volleyball is defense because defense sets up you offense to attack without it winning games would 10 times harder if you do not agree with tht then you dont know anything about volleyball
... and you didnt listen to anything i say... I just keep saying that defence is the only thing that matters in volleyball! I know that you can probably win if you have a slightly better defence, and the opponent have a slightly better offence. But you really cant MAKE points without attacking! For that you need the opponemt to make mistakes and how often will that happend if cant put them under pressure?
Defence is important, i agree! - But without offence its worthless!
@SirHeinrich1 heres my proof. a kid from my high school team was the number one recruit for a middle at stanford, his name is Denny Falls from Providence Catholic if you think im lying you can look him up. our coach talked to the coach from stanford (which is number one ranked team) and he said "colleges dont look specifically for hitters, anyone can jump and hit. they look for passers and setters. if they look for hitters they look for middles mainly"
Im not from USA, so i dont really know much about your system, but i know about talent! The reason they dont look for middleplayers at age 15-16, is that any good passer at that age, can learn to be a good middle player! You say that anyone can learn to pick up any serve! But Denny didnt get to stanford because he couldnt! An outside does everything a middle does, and more. A middle must just be able to read the play, and block! - And be 6'4. Almost noone at age 15 is that!
@SirHeinrich1 yes offense is important but defense is more important whether its by alot of a little. i dont know how old you are, how you play, or if your even good, but if you can not admit tht without defense you have no team then you dont have the knowledge you need for real competitive play. the equation for a volleyball game is pass set spike. you take pass out and you have nothing else. you can go to any college coach or olympic coach and they will say the same thing.
...And what if you cant hit ball over the net? Every defence starts with a good offence! Its not like i think a volleyball game can be won without defence! But it seams like you think a game can be won without offence! Im just trying to say that you need both!
@SirHeinrich1 tht was one of the stupidest statements i have ever read about volleyball "ever defense starts with a good offense" you do realize offense has no effect on their own teams defense what so ever. defense does not depend on an offensive play. besides how could you say tht if your team does not serve first? if your receiving, the offense has nothing to do with how the defense will play. and i dont think a game can be won without offense im just saying defense is slightly more important
@SirHeinrich1 and were back in reality here now not some made up world tht we created. when you get to high school level every single person on tht team can get the ball over the net some way even though everyone makes some mistakes some times and accidently hit it out or in the net. offense is important yes they score 90% of your points. but with out the defense there would be no offense or a very poor offense. and dont ever say tht statement again cause you sound idiotic
I guess its because you only know about high school volleyball!
If you dont put pressure on your serve, then the opponent will recieve it perfectly and win a point on a smash 1 on 1. If you make a good serve, the setter will be easier to read and you can have a doubble or tribble block and maybe win the point!
I dont see passing as defence! In my "stupid" statement i didnt think of a pass as defense! Passing is passing! And i still stand with my statement.
And i dont know what you mean about, when you get to high school level. As far as i know, high school volleyball kinda sucks! They even have speciel rules i think!?
he's got a good vertical, people on Youtube are just hard to impress. Proly not quite 45 inches, but it is impressive. Too bad you have to be one in a million to play at a high level when your that short.
Also, It's not really correct to say it's all about defense. Especially at the high level, where a perfect initial pass will get you a kill more often than not, even against great defense.
If you're talking about professional level club teams, then Yes, everyone can jump. But if you're referring to 16's club ball, then No, most people can't jump more than 32" or so (even thought they'll all tell you otherwise).
Well passing is defense, and if, like you said, a perfect pass gets you a kill more often than not, then it IS all about defense. Offense gets you points, defense wins you games
for the record, 45" was a guess. I don't even know this kid.
it's too bad the video quality got ruined when I uploaded it onto youtube a few years ago. I've since had to replace the computer and hence lost the original video. But in the original you could pretty clearly see that his right shoulder was well over the net at the point of contact, and his feet are about 1 foot below the net (which is generally 5 feet above the ground). so I stand by my guess.
Oh yeah so you dont have to jump to block... If I was on your team Id leave wherever you were in the back row open so people can bounce on you then laugh and asked what about jumping and defense?
The kids is 5'8", and he gets MAYBE 6 inches over an 8 foot net on his jump (and I'm being generous here). Simple math tells us that's 34 inches of vert.
Unless you guys are watching a different video where the kid's head reaches a foot and a half over the top of the net?
I'm 5' 6 and measured my max mertical to be around 33-35 inches... with freely jumping upon my exact 8 ft vball net side to side... my head is only about 2-3 inches over it...
well.. the math itself... if he's 5' 8"... and he jumped this one as a 45 inch vert.... for sure his shoulder/arms should be on top of the net as well...
But forget this stuff... he still can jump HIGH as fk... lol... and I'm sure he can get 45 vert freely jumping or randomly on his hits...
agreed :) last match i played the oppositions coach came up to me and was like 'you got a massive jump its all about them fast twitch muscles' he kept saying it over and over then he stopped looked at me and went 'daaaaaaamn man your about 5'7' i was so ashamed :P
but then once teams get selected (like regional, or national teams) US teams win because there is a larger talent pool and it is unfair (anti canadian conspiriacy)
Im from puerto rico and i know this guy. inthat juniors he play from pitirre and his name is wilfredo marine. I play last year with him and he has 42 vertical inch.
hey vbmason8 do you know what club it was? pitirre, borinquen coqui, torrimar ... plz let me know cuz if it's josejuan, he really does fly lol and i want to show him the video
vbmason8 it is borinnquen coqui..here in PR boriqnuen coqui is known for a good vertical training program..it is very common to see players with a high vertical from this club
haha we had the same problem last year at JO's. I was on the 14's team and a puerto rican player was 5'3 and we played on a regular guy net, got higher than our tallest player who can get elbow above the net, and our tallest player was 6'2. But this kid could jump and was ripped. but then we shut him down. but ya the puerto rican players are really good.
I have a 30, which is decent, and I am 5'10 this kid def got WAY higher than me.

would be a total pound to the ground if he was taller... stinks to be short in volleyball..

The bottom of the net is 5ft and his feet are only about a foot from that. So stop hating on this jesus christ. It is 45"

Hey XxDecrepifyxX, I hear that people can bend their knees these days?
gatewaydrugs1 2 years ago
pause it, those knees are straight.

but then once teams get selected (like regional, or national teams) US teams win because there is a larger talent pool and it is unfair (anti canadian conspiriacy)
eggsandham2 2 years ago
stupid middles cant read anything but what else do you expect from americans our canadian teams would kill you

haha we had the same problem last year at JO's. I was on the 14's team and a puerto rican player was 5'3 and we played on a regular guy net, got higher than our tallest player who can get elbow above the net, and our tallest player was 6'2. But this kid could jump and was ripped. but then we shut him down. but ya the puerto rican players are really good.
