  • Personally, a Mexican made 50's telecaster, with nocaster pickups in and a 52 style scratchplate will do the job, a great sound and looks near enough the same, just different finishes and cheaper labour costs :)

  • I wonder what perks Fender staff get

  • s there any place to get a shirt like the one he's wearing?

  • @WoWintosh What country was the wood harvested, and what season was the tree cut? How far was the nearest city? was the tree grown with clean air in a green friendly environment? How far from the ocean? was it near a running stream?

  • Simplicity and playability ... just enough ... One of the best guitars ever made ...

  • Aestically I dont really like the look of telecasters. I think Les Paul guitars look the most impressive.

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD come on man

  • @MrJackandEmily I am sure they are great guitars to play. I have heard they are excellent from numerous sources, however they are not great to look at.

  • dark and weak is not the way I hear a Tele neck p/up. Damn my mad ears. De-guassing the magnets would make more difference. You know as age does

  • @Rikk303

I thought the same thing, but then I did a little research, and I think he's talking about the vintage Tele tone circuit. The switching is different from a modern Tele. The three way switch is bridge-neck pickup bright-neck pickup dark. I don't know about de-gaussing though, that might impact sound quality negatively

  • @WoWintosh Was always amazed by the way different players could use the Tele and sound totally different from each other. Country, jazz, rock and blues players all think it's great. Just thought that the magnets losing their strength over the years might be a contributory factor to this "vintage sound" that people rave about and pay mega-bucks for. Weaker magnets might be the answer. Can't be that easy surely?!

  • what amp's he using?

  • @MrUnseenBucket seems like a fender blues junior but I'm not sure *waits for Fender fans to kill me*

  • do you customshop guys also make tuners?

  • MINHA TAGIMA TELECASTER TB TEM UM SOM BOM

  • This isn't a 52 telecaster.

  • This guy never talks about the wood type or wood quality, only the hardware.

  • @Douglasm5

High quality swamp ash and flat-sawn maple. There, happy? Do you want to know the species, or the amount of growth rings in the friggin' tree? Do you want to know how long the maple was kiln-dried? Do you have your panties in a bunch because you would rather have quartersawn maple? Do you think that the 2 piece body impacts tone? He doesn't talk about the wood because everyone who ever breathed within 100 miles of a guitar knows that a tele is just ash and maple

  • Most used phrases by this guy:

    It's kinda cool

    One of my favorites

There's a lot going with this gutar

  • Out of tune...bitchin neck pup though

  • Excuse me, but there's no such thing as a 52 V shaped neck

  • are you in the fact where make the fender?

  • I bet he could just waltz in to the custom shop on a saturday and build a dream strat or tele and relic it... JEALOUS

  • This is a great guitar but fuck the price dude! That is stealing! Just because they make limited numbers and they come up with a couple variations does not mean it can have that ridiculous price.

  • He said "uhm" about 30 times. Great guitar but that was annoying.

  • i want a tele so bad

  • ... do you sell the neck pickups in this beast ... part number please ...

  • such a good guitar player :)

  • The Great guitars!!!

  • IS THIS THE MODEL WITH ABBYS PICKUPS?

  • its always one of his favourites haha

  • fake

  • what

  • Hey, Telecaster experts-- could anyone watch this brief VID showing a very old TELECASTER PICKUP which has been in my garage since the seventies (I took it out of an old Tele and put a Humbucker in) bc I have no idea how to date or value it?? (I will try to post it here)

  • I'll be honest...it sounds like any other tele i've ever owned..

  • @yahoochiewatchie The tele is made for making simple blues sounds, so different pickups and such dosen't really matter

  • @Thehideby Excuse me? The tele can do everything from jazz to hard rock. Check out Ted Greene, simple blues sounds? Think not.

  • The best vintage sounding tele pickups are the Twang Kings by Dimarzio.

  • Where is the Custom Shop? I heard it's in Portland, Oregon

  • be awesome if these companies quit making relics

  • tele forever

  • My American Standard has the flat bridge with the bent saddles. This one has the ashtray bridge and the three brass saddles on it.

  • This guy sure likes his blues riffs!

  • @hippojuice23

Mike is a blues player :P

  • What does he mean by "It's made for the player to sit down and actually use?"

  • @graveljaw As in not hang up on the wall or put in a glass case

  • @graveljaw

that you don´t store this guitar in an tresor like an original 52 telly;-)

With this you can go an play evry evening

  • Damn.

  • all i need now is 6000 thousand bucks

  • Comment removed

  • @kdjfnvjvd I paid $1,300 for mine.

  • Great vid Mikey! Ever since the day I

heard Jimmy Page do the solo on

Stairway to Heaven, (the original album),

    I've been playing a Tele.

  • I played one of these 2 days ago ! It's AMAZING best guitar ive ever played !! Good work fender !

  • Bravo Fender. You guys still operate like Leo was still part of the company. Still homegrown with musicians always number one!

  • A tele will shred if played through a Marshall. Very versatile.

  • anything will shred through a Marshall!

  • I want that guitar so badly!

  • i wanna work in the custom shop!!!!

  • amen

  • PRS is the new Gibson

  • the problem i have with people talking about the shape of a neck is that after everything they always say

" its really comfortably to play" it doesnt even matter which shape it could be a soft V or a C or a D but everyone says the same thing

  • awesome

  • this guy sure likes playing country, I bet if you hand him a PRS he would be playing country on it, lol.

Serriously dude, play some blues, jazz, classic rock, metal, or alt rock, the tele is versitale, not a country cowboy's guitar.

  • ok, I heard him play blues a few times, but still... COME ON MAN!!!

  • if someone handed me a PRS i would tell them to give back my damn Tele :)

well i think you can milk some totally signature sounds from the tele through country, so i think thats why he demonstrates that

  • are you kidding? everyone uses a tele for country.

if you want signature sounds, play metal with a telecaster, and country with a flying V. :P (that wound be intersting)

I actually heard a guy play country on a PRS though, lol.

  • Haha me too man, me too.

  • Nothing wrong with him doing country. The telecaster is hands down the best guitar for country, so expect to hear some country- even though it excels in all styles. I personally can't stand country, but this guy plays terrificly.

I'm sure you don't complain when someone sits down to do a demo and sticks with mostly blues licks.

  • Also, right now I'm 4 minutes into this video and every lick he's played has been blues, but with a country sound. (The minutes don't add up because I was making lunch XD)

  • Great Tele!!

  • To bad its a relic.

  • Fender makes awesome reg. Strats and Teles, but you get into these they over charge to the max.

P.S. - No way that is the Fender Custom Shop. All that's in the custom shop is etching fluid, sandpaper and wood chisels.

  • wow!! awesome sound!!! great guitar! that neck pup sounds sooo round and smooth, and great transition to the bridge pup. sounds like a unique and versatile guitar!

  • i wanna know where i can get one of these bridge pickups

  • This guy is a shame. Every guitar he presents is his favorite or close to the one he owns. Ridiculous and a bad publicity for the brand. It was funny at the beginning, but it is annoying now

  • this guy Mike Eldred has been designing and making guitars since the 70's for van halen, def leapard, zz top, rat, heart and many more bands. he was the head of charvel/jackson for years making all of thier guitars. i worked with him back then, he's a very talented and famous luthier.

  • I am not saying he is not a talented luthier, I am just saying he is not good in marketing because when I see his videos, I am not tempted to go buy one of these models (ironic since I own one of them).

  • I agree. What a shame that he bashes the original Telecaster pickups and stuff. Would be a very bad sales rep for Fender. Leo Fender's original Telecasters are better than Mike Eldred's modern Telecasters will EVER be...

  • Whatz the differance between a Strat and a Tele. That has always got on my mind that. Hot vid

  • Most simply, the tele has two single coil pickups and a fixed bridge, the strat has three single coil pickups and a tremolo bar. They'll both give you that beautiful fender clean sound. Because the strat is hollowed out in the middle for the floating tremolo bridge and the middle pickup, it almost has a semi-hollow quality. The tele is solid wood with the strings running through the body. This makes it more resonant and rugged. I personally play a tele. It's just no-frills pure guitar!

  • Now I get it. Thanx alot mate :)

  • No problem, man. Rock on.

  • Are you serious ?, dingo got your brain ??

    ayres rock/ air head

  • WTF would u know about Australia u dumb irish prick. And its not ayers rock its Uluru. Fuckin retard. Y dont u go down 2 the pub and get pissed off 1 drink k mate. And dont say that I dont know anything about Ireland, coz I have an Irish background and have been to Ireland twice 2 c mi family.

  • I stand corrected old mate, I am a guitar collector, my comment was off hand, you are one of our own . I can't go to the pub cos its 00:30 her, no kiddin

  • Apologies !!,

  • MMM HMM. Thats alrite mate. Me 2.

  • fair play to you.

  • yes you can, its a twisted tele front pickup from the custom shop, its also available on Ebay as is the matching Broadcaster bridge pickup.

  • So what is the front pickup called? And are you able to order one?

  • i think it is called a "twisted tele" pickup. visit the fender custom shop website.

  • he looks like the guy from according to jim

  • haha so true..

  • sounds too much like a strat

  • Has anybody got a comparison between such a CS Guitar and a Warnoth made Tele?

  • I've watched this video so mant time's i've just bought this limited edition guitar!!! i love that front pickup, cant wait for it to get here:)

  • The 52 Tele is like no other Tele out there. You can spot one of these from a mile away. I also love the Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele which they also make in black.

  • they didnt relic the bulge in his pants

  • the amp is a pro junior . . .i think

  • I have a 52' tele that I absolutley freaking adore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aHHHHHHHHHHHHH LONG LIVE FENDER TELECASTER!!!!!!

  • His got a huge bulge down below, well puts me off the vid. Not nice, now that you've read this you know you're going to look. Sorry

  • keith richards tele woohhoo

  • Almost. Needs a PAF in the bridge though..

  • sounds s fucking nice

  • Thanks a bunch for these videos fender, keep it up, and keep makin them!

  • How do you spell the name of that neck pickup? Tallerbobin?

  • It's a pickup with a bobbin which is taller than usual for a different sound.

  • Now we're talking my language. What I wouldn't do for that guitar, Is that like no Hot Rod Tele? What kind of neck pickup is that, like a mini humbucker?

  • What's the difference between this guitar and the custom 52 telecaster?

  • None - Mike's demo'd the same guitar. In the custom vid he refers to it as a "limited release" at the start and then "limited edition" by the end??? When he close ups the bridge pup you'll notice the same relic marks near the pick guard on both vids.

  • Yes, I never noticed before, but now that you pointed it, they have the same specs, same relic marks in the same spots and sound the same hehehehe!

  • i like how they're also putting in that 3 brass saddle bridge

  • I like this alot

But I really didn't their idea of the top pickup.

I prefer the darker sounding top pickup.

  • Best Tele sound ever.

  • would be nice to see a cs tour...maybe a bit more about the jazzmaster?

  • No finish on the back, cool.
