Almost all police officers, soldiers, FBI agents, ect have personal guns at home they dont only use their issued weapons. I felt like reaching into the computer screen and strangling you lol. Maybe if you said my neighbor the pizza boy said buy that gun it would sound a little better.

The first time I went into a gun store I was looking for a weapon for self defense becauseat the time I was scared via a threat on my life. I told the clerk I wanted something for self defense and asked for recommendations and he didn't bother to ask me about ANY details concerning what I wanted/needed. The only thing he REPEATEDLY told me was "it depends on how much you want to spend." I didn't know jack about guns then, but it was the worst service I've received ANYWHERE IN ANY SITUATION!
I am impressed with your knowledge purchasing firearms. After watching your vids I have learned a lot. Also the debate about what caliber to buy I've learned as you've said , choose the highest caliber one feels comfortable shooting and then you mentioned calibers such as the 22 that you don't recommend for home defense etc; Thank You I like your vids very professional.
This is an eye opening vid for me and I really appreciate how honest you are about what you know. It's obvious to me that I need to listen to what you have to say, esp as a soon to be new gun owner! I learned a lot. Thanks so much!
Unfortunately not all shops have respectful knowledgeable sales associates. I know of one shop that have the most condescending, rude, arrogant, chip on the shoulder attitudes. Total arm chair commandos. NONE of these clerks know much about firearms, they just want to "show off" with open carry. This specific shop a clerk pointed the muzzle at me and when I shouted at him to "watch it" he asked ME TO LEAVE. I never went back even though they are the only Nighthawk Dealer in my state.
LOL...how many time have you heard about a guys "friend" that has had an AD/ND with a Glock? Sure, I've never actually met anyone who has, or had one myself...but those Glocks are dangerous!!!! My friends friends room-mate says so....LOL
yea..... all i have to say is i was told the guy couldnt sell me a gun because i had tattoos.. what the fuck is that? i walk in one gun store from work he says um i cant sell you a firearm because you have tattoos. what did i do? went down the road to dons guns and walked out with my new judge night court 410/45 i hate the owners who look you down and judge you befor speaking.
@reconjake Throughout the olden days people with tatto's were usually criminals etc. they had them as a stamp for going into jail etc.
The stigma, shamefully, still exsist...
I'm only 18, and have no tattoos, my mother ALWAYS tells me, "When you go for a job interview and you have visable tattoo's they'll frown upon it... I know i would". See my point?
Just hold your posture, be polite, and don't be a tool... They'll soon see you're a good member of society. :)
@reconjake That's ridiculous. Maybe it's just because I've hung out with too many Marines but tattoos don't bother me in the least (even though I don't have any of my own). As long as you are courteous and respectful you will get treated courteously and respectfully by me.
if i go to a gunstore and i dont know the clerk (in iceland, we only have 6 in the capital) i allways ask questions that i know the anwser to, so i can see if the clerk is making a sale og giveing me good info. (now i only shop in 2 of those stores)
I worked in a gun store after serving in the Army. The other clerks at the store had never fired a handgun before in their lives. Their experience was confined to video games and anecdotes from online sources.
Suffice it to say that I wasn't impressed. Do your own research and remember that the person selling to you may have little to no firearm experience.
Many years ago (probably 30 some years) US swimmer Mark something (forgot the name) won 7 Olympic swimming gold medals. His coach can't even swim. So, if a guy never shot a gun in his life, if he studied or did researched, he could still be an expert of guns.
@peichengc This is true. One of my managers at the second gun store I worked at knew A LOT about guns in general. He could tell you when things were made and vintages and prices and all of that but that was his job... he freely admitted that he had no interest in guns other than business and couldn't remember the last time he shot one. He was a good source when it came to general knowledge but when asked about recoil or feel or concealability, etc, he was useless because he had no experience.
As a minority I've had the displeasure of walking into gun stores and getting the condescending attitude of, "You're not from this country" because I didn't fit their image, and they tried to convince me into buying stuff I didn't want. At the same time I've also been to gun stores where the staff treats people well as long as they were civil and were helpful with any questions I had.
I agree with the comments at 11:00+, I have so many people trying to tell me to get a Glock or a Sig, I have nothing against both of those companies but I just love my HK USP Custom Combat, it just feels that perfect in my hands and it shoots exactly how I want it to. I can't complain and I can't come up with a reason to go buy a Glock or Sig since I've got everything I need in my handgun already.
I had a clerk argue with me about a gun. Then I pulled out my employees badge for that particular gun company I worked for. He shut the fuck up and called me "sir" after every sentence. Clerks can be full of bullshit.
Once again, this is excellent advice! Some of this is a bit frightening that it needs to be said, but you get all kinds in all places, that's for sure.
@satchboogyfan Also my experience with rental guns is that they tend to run dirty, so take the function and reliability of a rental with a grain of salt.
As a lady, I have been in some great gun stores who were so helpful, patient, and gave me great info. I have been in bad gun stores who would not even give me the time of day for being female. My money and my feet went to the good store.
@katiatomsk It's happened to me before too. What's funny is that to this day, when I go to gun stores and shows I get people who will literally skip right over me and ask the guy behind me if he needs any help. It really.. and I mean REALLY pisses me off.
I'm lucky. Great gun shop. Run by one of owners. First name basis now. And he'll take all the time in the world to let me look at anything whether I'm buying today or not. Better prices than Cabella's on firearms. Lit'l higher on ammo and accessories but I'll pay it just for the top notch customer service. And he'll let me do "layaway" type transactions, often more than one at a time, because he knows I'm good for it. Screw Cabella's and the "take a number" system. Support your local gun shop :)
be sober. oh my god.lol thats like holding the customers hand and gently telling them be sober. be a good boy.lol... i always researched which ones were candidates. which ones i want to handle. that always made a visit simple and fast. yes. definitely ask to dry fire. police dont know everything about firearms either. many first fired a gun in the academy. same with some military personnel. first time using a firearm in bootcamp.
@limalife weird strange ^-^.is there a organization no eh am stuck.if you have a gun store do you have to belong to a organization where you can maby check a gun store out .? or can anny one starts one
@koioo2 Not really. The best thing to do is to research the store on the internet via internet discussion forums for gun enthusiasts in your area. The problem with that, however, is that sometimes a single bad customer with a grudge can spew a lot of crap that isn't true because he was at fault.. so take whatever you read with a LARGE grain of salt.
good videos and good info from your experience...I had to laugh when you said the bit about the military person recommending the m9...lol as an army guy I have yet to hear anyone say that. I personally own an m9 only because its the service pistol I have to be proficient with and such is the case with a few army buddies I know. But as an owner of a firearms business (FFL) this is good info...keep it up!!
@customgsxr600 It's happens. Some of these gung-ho, fresh out of boot camp kids come dragging in their brothers or friends and rave and rave about the superiority of the M9 because "That's what we use in the military!" and the friend swallows it hook, line and sinker and they walk out with it because "if it wasn't the best the military wouldn't have it." That's when you just sigh, take their money and wish them well.
@limalife IMHO the whole 9mm debate for self defense(is it enough) it widely talked about but lets say it is the perfect caliber...I know for a fact there is a better platform for it than the M9. it's a good laugh though to think that people think the M9 or 92fs is the end all be all. have a good one....great series and good for new gun buyers. @noquie1 Like I said, if someone is in Law Enforcement and/or the military and has knowledge and advised well and the individual has been careful to consider all of the options and made their purchased to fulfill THEIR OWN needs then I am perfectly fine with it.. I'm gonna call you out about the military/law enforcement guys. YES. Many of them like what their superiors have programed them to like but many of them have personal knowledge in their own right.
