  • Hi is there any tutorials on how to make that dog house thing?

  • the shirt that meg is wearing at the end is really kool anyone know how to make it

  • WOOALAH !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice idea. I thought you may want to know that isn't chicken wire that you used, it is known as rabbit wire.

  • I hope they sorted the trash, so as to not have it all end up in the dump! I like the lamp idea.

  • @DavidAngelMedina the dump is alot better then the street !!

  • i like the gray shirt cover up too... :p

  • yeah that jacket is awsome!!!

  • Yes! Outkast!

    "so fresh and so clean"

As always, very inspiring. Keep em comming!

  • omg the dog was crying

    that was so sad

    haha

  • yeah, they got that scene from an old recycling commercial, where people were driving and throwing out trash on the road, and a Native American man(played by an Italian, go figure) sheds a tear. lol

  • I've seen something similar done on top design season 2..but with white paper plates! it would be so awesome if someone did a tutorial of how to make that

  • Earth Day episode!!! Loved the upcycling. And Meg in general, always.

  • i love the jacket your guys were wearing. the earth jacket AWESOME did you make it? how?

  • Make a lamp with stuff found on the street in your neighbourhood?..Who dropped 40 spoons??

  • "who dropped 40 spoons" HAHAHAHA that was hilarious

  • @Chrissyart Me. Sry.

  • @Chrissyart

    She said VIA CRAIGSLIST

  • @Chrissyart who dropped one spoon?

  • @Chrissyart she said neighborhood not street in your neighborhood, she also said she used kraigslist.

  • I love this video when i was a kid I always had some project on the go.....

  • I would have used the spoons to make spoon bracelets. Just heat and bend.

  • Great idea for a lamp!!! I will definitely try that!

  • Be careful! If your lamp weighs more then 3 pounds attach a chain or additional wire to hang it from. It is really never a good idea to hang you lamp from its power cord. Best to suspend only the bulb if you really must. If you use a light switch to turn it off and on wrapping the cord around the metal frame is not a safety issue. If your lamp has a pull chain please attach the socket holder to the shade frame to prevent the power conducting wire from fraying or shorting.

  • Yep. Soon as I saw this design tip it had disaster written all over it. I have Int. Des. professor who says not to use a pull chain cord in any application; pulled too hard the chain can come into contact with the live wire. I hadn't heard this before but people have been electrocuted in their showers so anything is possible.

  • im not crazy about the spoons, but its cool how you can pretty much put anything on the wire... thanks

  • we are building a house in a few years and it is going to be a earth home and we are going to have solar power!! and a wind turbine! I'm so excited!

  • wow.. the spoon lamp is such a great idea! meg is awesome =]

  • Loved this idea, may just copy it when I go to college! It will definitely keep my room interesting.

  • I adore Meg! That lamp was really cute. I especially like the one with the letters and numbers.

  • mmm... I like the idea, but the execution is a little ghetto, and strikes me as a bit lazy. This could have been pulled off far more polished and nice. Much less obviously DIY, anyway. DIY projects shouldn't be obviously DIY for their sloppiness. :(

  • i love the cassette bag that you are carrying. can post a tutorial on that?

    thank u

    -michelle-

  • hey this is cool!i am already starting my own trash project in n. cal. hey it's good exercise too.happy earth day!! <3

  • ...sorry, I wouldn't have anything like that in my house. Don't use junk for the sake of using junk, try and make it look a little pretty!

  • that lamp was cool considering the fact that u are free to style it the way u want it. good job!

  • meg is the cutest!

my family is always inadvertently recycling things, namely the plastic boxes that butter/plain yogurt come in to hold left overs. not really trendy though. though we also save jam jars, and i one time i peeled off the labels and tied ribbons around them and served my friends ice tea in them, and for some reason they were really cute and quite the hit with my cronys

  • Meg!!!!

Decor it yourself is soooo amazing~

  • what an ugly lamp!

  • It would be cute if she had some dangling spoons too!

  • a spoon chandalier...that would be cute

  • I took lover her bag! How does one make one, or where does one by it? xD

  • They have the bag's at Claire's

  • I loved this episode! :D Meg you are fantastic as always! :D

  • i didnt really like the spoons, but the second lamp with the numbers and letters looked nicee

  • I LOVE HER BAG!

  • me freaking too!!

  • what the heck was a milk carton doing on a tree branch?!

  • hey I once found a perfectly good bagel hanging off a branch. The world is just weird like that.

  • ok for these people doubting that you can find cool enough objects just out in the gutters... your right so thats why i had to take it a step further...

i dumpster dived, but not at any old bin at the dumpster of my local fabric shop bike shop and my not so local canvas sign shop... loads of other places have good turn outs too just remember be as inconspicuous as possible because dumpster diving is commonly frowned upon.

  • isn't it illegal in some places too?

  • Meg<3

  • how are spoons recycle treasures?? i rarely see a metal spoon laying on the street

  • Hmmm... maybe if you got a new set of silverware, you can use it for the lamp instead of throwing it away! But yeah, not something you would see on the streets...

  • Actually, you'd be surprised at what you find at estate sales. Silverware is nearly always one thing (my uncle has an estate sale/clean-out business). You can find some neat stuff that people just want to get rid of (and it saves on dumpster diving lol)

  • She got them off craigslist.

The other people didn't want them, so she took them to make something new out of them (that is a way to recycle things)

  • weee!!! Meg is back!!! love this video...

  • haha 11211?

  • The spoons would make a GREAT wind chime too!!!

  • thats awesome

  • those world jackets at 3:02 are real nice tell me where you got them!!!

  • I wouldn't twist that wire too much at the end, go to the hardware store and find a piece that will hang safely from the cord- ask the clerk to help you.

Over time, twisted wires like that can cause fires and shorts, and that's a completely metal shade. Play it green, and play it safe!

    ~Kat

  • those earth sweaters totally rock!

  • love Meg episodes! The lamp shade with the numbers looked awesome. I would probably add something behind the chicken wire to defuse the light more evenly.

  • I LOVE Meg's hip-hop references! "So fresh and so clean clean" LOL! She always catches me off guard with stuff like that.

  • what type of dog is it???

  • Your yellow boots are hot and the lamps are divine.

  • The utencils in the kitchen look so rad.

  • Green Tip:

if you are a smoker, you have without a doubt at some point thrown your cigarette butts onto the ground.

start carrying around a small little tin to put your butts in until you reach a garbage where you can throw them out :)

  • Yes! Great tip. Thank you for the clean-up, team Threadbanger. Cigarette butts are disgusting. If you smoke, please be responsible for them and don't just chuck them on the ground. They get washed into our water, animals eat them and it's just really sad to see.

  • @NekoHWhuT I've found cigar cutting cases to be awesome for that.

  • oOoOoh i liked the street number lamp!!!

  • aww wlittle pup!!! he was crying!!!!!!! :(:(:(

  • That little Gracie is the cutest and most entertaining friend.

  • looks aesome:O

i have so much junk lying around my house i could easily make like 10 of those:D but me mom wouldn't like that:(

    however i love this show:)

  • That Gracie is a natural, I tell you.

    Loved the episode!

  • She is the best!

  • decor it yourself if my favorite!!!! that lamp looks sooo cool!!!

  • At first I was like, "Spoons??" But it looks great in the kitchen area!

  • I love Decor it yourself :)

  • pretty cool idea.

  • TEAMMMMMMM PLANET!

  • I'm sorry, I'm too busy eating soup.

  • i LOVE LOVE LOVE decor it yourself!!! keep 'em coming!!

  • oh wow i love the lamp idea, I'm definitely trying it out

  • oh yeah and meg should totally do way more decor it yourself episodes

  • love this idea..i just got a whole bunch of retro souviener teaspoons.now i know what to do with them..AND where diod meg get that bag shes got in the first scenes???L.O.V.E IT!!!!!!

  • y'all should really use tongs.

  • that lamp is awesome!

  • aw, how cute!!! :]

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS ? I was checking last week everywhere a tutorial on how to do a pendant lamp with forks !! haha amazing

  • *gasp* does that mean with this I could make my dream of having my own disco ball! out of this. oh if you guys could do and ep. on how to make a disco ball that would be awesome!

  • I second that! My friend got a house recently and it has a bunch of mirrors (some broken) he doesn't want. He's just going to throw them out but if I can save them I'll have disco ball supplies!

  • I know right I can get so much stuff around my town like broken beer bottles and make the disco ball different colors!

  • I never thought about using bottles to make a different colored disco ball! What an awesome idea!

  • what's going on with youtube? I've tried to watch this video and a number of others and the videos only get maybe 20 seconds into the video before it stops and goes back to the begining.....

  • Did you make your bag? would you PLEASE have a tutorial for that?!? I love it!

  • If you're talking about the tape cassette bag, it was available at Fred Flare, but I'm not sure if they still sell it. :)

  • Meg, we need you back with an episode every week. Please!!!.

  • cool idea. but..i wouldnt use spoons...

  • If you clean the streets make a game out of it and count the amount of buds you find

  • that lamp is teh shit! LOVE it! tell her i said it's AWESOME!

  • Easiest way to be green: Recycle.

  • love the lamp shade and rob and corinne have to be a couple.

  • Love it!

  • This is a great idea!

  • wow great idea!

  • THAT GRACIE IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!

  • Clean-ups, recycling, wind energy and a killer lantern. Best episode ever.

  • The lanterns are stunning. SO unique. I love this show!

  • As always,great video Meg.

  • you could totally put old jewelry all over the lapmshade too, and like let strands hang down!

  • I really like this idea!

  • Oh yeah!

Like old hoop earings for the -i forget what kind of fancy lamp has danglies all over it- look
