Gee, its been a long time since I visited your page. Nice to see new informative videos... What you working on nowadays? Did you ever get your series published?
I hadn't seen this one before. You're a devious one. Patient, too - I wanted to jump through the computer screen and get him tacked up already, for goshsakes!
I think it has a LOT to do with your energy. Animals feed on that so much. I guess what Cesar Millan would call it is Calm Assertive. Your like the popular person that everyone wants to be with but won't take any flack and everyone knows that. lol! That's what I think the animals feel with you. They know your in charge but they know your not going to be a predator.
Hi Paul, nice starter. I've just watched your naughty or nice vid where you said that the horse was beefed up on feed... Do you think that the lack of feed in this night starter here could be the reason for him being such a sweetie ? Just wondering !
trained as she gave more when I asked and when we were three quarters around the track I just barely touched the reins and she slowed. She was the smoothest ride I have ever had at a gallop. I LOVE THOROUGHBREDS! Hopefully I will one day have the chance to meet Paul and his wife.
I boarded my first horse at a Thoroughbred breeding farm that was owned by an old couple. They would send their youngsters off, race them and then bring the mares back to have babies. I was 14 years old when I started jumping on them bareback from the fence and finally got permission to ride them. We had a really nice track there, not sure how big but it was one of the biggest in Ontario. The best ride I ever had was on a 16.2 hand gorgious chestnut mare. She must have been very well
I thought we were going to see some fireworks at first but WOW..Up and off you go. Your the best. I believe that. I truely enjoyed your story. Oh, the stories you could tell. I'd bet you have a million of them. Looking forward to the new page. I hear the excitement in your voice just talking about it. If Dea puts out a web page anything like that video of Japan she just put out there, SHE ROCKS....Thanks for helping this little horse out.
And incidentally: dark night, lightening, thunder, black horse--you have a little dark devious side to you--and we DO hear you snicker as you introduce this Vid. You are TOO MUCH FUN, my friend! lol
Had to watch this again. Watching your young staff work with this colt really makes me want to see some clinics by you. REALLY! I PROMISE to save my icecream money lol. I am feeling so inadequate at the Training Center when I try to handle my own horses. Also, if you could do something about trailer loading. There has to be a better way than sedating my filly to load her.(note to DEA) good luck to you on finishing the site since THE ENDOBOSS has already announced its upcoming completion(lol)
I don't know anyone else who'll just jump on an unstarted and virtually untouched rascal colt and ride it like there's nothing to it - AND have the colt enjoy it too! I just wanna say that you rock.
Oh, "thanks" for the honourable mention.. If that's not pressure, I don't know what is... Ok, I'm on it, I'm on it! Holy Flamingo...lol
THANK YOU! What a wonderful surprise for today--a new vid by you. Curious: do you have any thoughts as to why the colt had reversed on the other riders? Also, it was kinda fun to see you put your boys to the task. It would be great if you could do that again, and allow us to hear (in english captions if necessary) your comments or coaching. Hmmm sounds a bit like a clinic!
I rode a horse like that once. I was 15 or 16 and new to the barn, but I was good with horses and the "problem" horses didn't bother me. Some ladies had a mare that they said bolted, reared, and bucked people off that they asked if I could ride for them. They had their hands up by her ears and had constant pressure in the horses mouth. I got on, gave her her head, and she tried to get me off twice, but after she realized what was happening she was perfect in walk, trot, canter.
Like our red horse Endo. Everyone called him psycho. He's da BEST all he wants is for YOU 2 be his leader take all that pressure of making decisions off his mind. Nothing makes him happier than feeling steady hands 2 show him the way. Now if someone ever *hurts* that horse he'll be lost forever, but with a calm handler he's such a trusting soul. Just show him what you need & you can count on him 2 try his BEST. Definitely NOT PSYCHO he's a text book dream horsey. Respectful & honest as can be.
its funny how a sweet pokey pony can become a terror in the hands of someone having a panic attack 24/7. Nice vid. Its great being able to watch somebody work so well with horses, thanks for taking the time to post it.
Another great vid Master Paul, I just love to see you work. I still cant make it look this easy. But every time I watch you I learn more, thanks for your vids.
great work! i cant believe noone else was able to stick to him, and you made it look like a piece of cake! good on ya! bet it put the other riders there to shame lol!
Thanks wolfy, the story I was telling between 6:43 and 7:55 was when I was riding freelance at Randwick (Sydney)back around 1988. Thems were the days..lol
oh yeah, i checked out your site, thats the one that started it all huh? that trainer mustve been stoked! how old were ya again? ( i had to watch in mute, coz my daughter's asleep in my lap :-p ). man, im totally gonna be doing the same as you in a few years, if i can find a decent trainer to get cred with, that is lol. you are without a doubt my 1 of 2 heros (the others mr horseproblems, thats y i was stoked when he helped with the tap 4 noobs lol)lol, now i sound like an endo-groupie! lol :D
you don't wanna be a trainer sweetie, trust em. Start your horses or your friends once in awhile, do it for fun, cuz u ain't never gonna make much money at it. Do something that pays good money so you can send ur little girl to university...

The horse was only looking for a lader, or alpha.
Safety and comfort.
Someone who CAN look out for him if any tigers try and attack.
An dhe knew thoses kids weren't reliable leaders, he didnt feel safe.
But you cold see a COMPLETE change as soon as you held the rope, he knew you'd look after him.
So listening to the stories then doubting the horse is the worst thing you can do, and you done an AMAZING job. :)
