@kevrachel1, thats the procedures for a real spiral approach, its not a normal procedure for commercial airlines but in the military they do spiral approaches to stay within safe skies.

I am a new-comer and I don't know what I've said is correct or not. But I think you've extended the full flaps too early that the aircraft is too high. Since the flaps can create a lift force for your aircraft. I think you've found that it's quite hard for you to decend when you are approaching and that's the result of extending the flaps too early.

WOW! That bank you did before landing was horrible, exceeded the limit by all means. In the PMDG 747 it would of given you like every single warning during your entire flight.

Dude! What were your system specs?

As far as I know there were no systems upon the release of FSX (which was in 2006) that could run it with the kind of frame rates and graphics settings that you are achieving in this video. You seem to be running "all sliders right," because each gate has a Jetway, and your water effects are stunting! And you're doing it at least 30 frames per second! In fact, I don't think there is a system, even now in 2010, that can do that!

You're exceeding your flap limit. Thats what that beeping noise in the cockpit is.

If your realism settings were up, this would cause an overstressed aircraft 'crash'.

The beeping noise is only a reminder that the gear is up, when retarding the throttle below a specific point, only when flaps are at "landing" configuration.

This is done to prevent rocket proppelled grenade fire and enemy AA guns, during your decent in a hostile territory. you greatly reduce the risk of enemy fire in a controlled space then flieng low for 100nm above enemy territory. you can record flight by downloading for example "fraps". start fraps, go in-game, at the end of your landing hit ALT and go to "Instand Replay". then you can record your landings.

Because Auto Brake is for... the brakes! You have to physically arm the spoilers in order for them to deploy upon touchdown.

Just to give my 2 cents in backing this man. I think his technique was perfect.

-Turns have to be steep (sharp) when performing a spiral approach and his turns did not exceed 60 degrees.

- The wing on a 747 will get pretty close to the ground on a spiral approach. The key is that he did not hit it...good piloting.

- Flaps would have been just fine. He extended the flaps to 10 degrees at 250IAS.

He has probably used something like FSRecorder (you can google it) or the Flight Recorder built into flight simulator. Then after the flight, you can play the whole flight back. I am just taking a guess though.

your flaps are way set down to far for that high of an altitude.

But you have to remember that the technic used in that landing is a lot different to most landings. And I normally just put my flaps down one notch then when I feel I need to lower them more, continue to do that. I don't know the real rules for lowering flaps. I regually put them down in one go when I start my approuch which I shouldn't and I will confess that. Good landing though.

Yeah it was a good landing, but his flaps were full at FL30. That's not good for the plane. Plus, since flaps create lift, why create lift at FL30 when your trying to descend.

Yea, it might be because of speed. I know that personally I put full flaps on straight away. I know I shouldn't but I don't really know when to move to the next flap, I know on final is normally when you put full flaps on the aircraft. I might try and find guides for it though to see when to apply flaps.

If you look on the kneeboard... then on the aircraft info page, it tells you the speeds to apply each flap detent at and try adding flaps one at around 6000 ft above and then continue from there as you slow down

When flaps are lowered, a horn will buzz if the throttle are below a certain position, to remind the pilot that gear is not down for landing.
