Dodd didn't put an amendment in the stimulus bill. The bonuses were approved and sought by Bush when TARP was first conceived. Wyden-Snowe put an amendment in the bill against the bonuses. We don't know if Dodd removed it or not, but we do know that Geithner at Treasury pushed to get it removed. We don't know if Obama knew of that or not.
But we do know that Cantor had a vote that day, came on tv to rail against something, but couldn't answer a simple question. Your comparison isn't valid.

The Wall St Journal reported today that in changing the language hem ironically, made some of it tougher on bonuses and then some of it weaker. The parts made sharper might be able to be used to get them back because they can nullify contracts before the passing of the stim bill. It's unfair to say he wrote an amdt to give them bonuses, that's just not true.

It's not about the money. Seriously, it's not. AIG has received in the neighborhood of 170 billion here. These bonuses, at a little over 165 million amount to less than one tenth of one percent of the bailout.
So I don't actually care that AIG makes some token gesture of returning 0.1% of the bailout money, while keeping 99.9%.
I care that the assholes that created this shitstorm are getting even one penny of my bailout money, instead of being fired and shot at dawn.

It was ridiculous the idea that the administration allowed them to get their bonuses. But what's all the outrage about 160 million dollars. AIG was bailed out with 160 BILLION dollars. how about outrage about that. They shouldn't have been bailed out in the first place. Furthermore even though it's a sham to give incompetent exec a bonus it was a result of a contractual agreement. Contracts should always be honored. I know in the new america we don't want to honor our contracts.

Dodd didn't put an amendment in the stimulus bill. The bonuses were approved and sought by Bush when TARP was first conceived. Wyden-Snowe put an amendment in the bill against the bonuses. We don't know if Dodd removed it or not, but we do know that Geithner at Treasury pushed to get it removed. We don't know if Obama knew of that or not.
But we do know that Cantor had a vote that day, came on tv to rail against something, but couldn't answer a simple question. Your comparison isn't valid.

That's what you're referring to. His amdt limited exec pay and bonuses, it wasn't to give them bonuses, they already had that from TARP. The Wall St Journal reported today that in changing the language hem ironically, made some of it tougher on bonuses and then some of it weaker. The parts made sharper might be able to be used to get them back because they can nullify contracts before the passing of the stim bill. It's unfair to say he wrote an amdt to give them bonuses, that's just not true.

i know what u mean, but right now the ones suffering is the layman, i know people are pissed. but because the usual support for regular guys jobs is money being in the banks. the "fat cats" then create incentives for other "fat cats" to invest in based on the money in the banks. which creates more jobs. they invest in business, which to make them money hires people. when people pull money out of the banks, they removed the money that supports them.

It's not about the money. Seriously, it's not. AIG has received in the neighborhood of 170 billion here. These bonuses, at a little over 165 million amount to less than one tenth of one percent of the bailout.
So I don't actually care that AIG makes some token gesture of returning 0.1% of the bailout money, while keeping 99.9%.
I care that the assholes that created this shitstorm are getting even one penny of my bailout money, instead of being fired and shot at dawn.
